  1. Actually, I saw an Intrepid in a salvage yard that had the all tan Interior, in really good shape. Looked good! Too bad the rest of the car was toast, but...the interior was really nice. Chris
  2. Sometimes even a small thing working on a car can be fun. Cleaned the glass on the wife's crap box this afternoon, inside and out, streak free and spotless. Go do something, dude! Chris
  3. Really hopeing the Mercury serves you well for the winter...and that you find a Job in Wyoming, or somewhere else far away. Chris
  4. Looks like a nice mod, DF. Glad to see you continue to make progress on the Intrepid. Chris
  5. My fav. TA's are the Dark Green 4th gen cars. VERY sharp, IMHO. Would LOVE to own one of those. Chris
  6. Actually if I lived in the southwest, I think I would like Sante Fe. Plan to visit there sometime. Sounds interesting. Chris
  7. Had a Co-worker who had a nice one that sadly was stolen. They are hard to find...but I remember them new. I've always wanted one of those. Chris
  8. ...yet another car. Saw this and thought of you. http://www.productioncars.com/vintage-ads....smobile/Cutlass THAT is what you need, my friend. Chris
  9. It is nice to know that these cars are becoming so affordable. Good luck, Whitenight! Chris
  10. Savannah Georgia is really cool, and I almost moved there from Atlanta a few years ago. Problem with Savannah is that there is only a very small middle class. Savannah is a small number of well off or fairly well off people living with a bunch of people who have no upward mobility or chance at upward mobility. A lot of Savannah looks like Cleveland...and not in a good way. Kind of run down, kind of funky...but the parts of it that are beautiful are spectacular. Of the places I would live if I could...Savannah is still on the list. But I'm with Bob on this one...new York and New England. WOW...like he said, esp. in the fall. I love older homes an architecture, and this place has them in droves. Sadly, a whole lot of New England seems really hard hit by the "rust belt" and as such, don't know how easily I could make a living there. Chris
  11. ...and Caddycruiser...I am jealous. Wish that I could trust someone local like that. But I distrust most of the local dealers, as most of the people I know have had bad experiences with them.
  12. Go to http://www.tdiclub.com and check around. See if you can find a local VW "guru" that can do a timing belt change. Good luck! Chris
  13. +1 pretty much. I will farm major stuff out, but small stuff is just too much fun to do myself. Manual tranny gear oil change is like $85-$125 at a dealer. Can do it myself for $15, why not save $70 And I hate chains of any sort with a purple passion. Costco isn't bad, but I hate Walmart and such. Plus I don't trust them. Had a room mate once take his car to walmart for four consecutive oil changes...for the 5th oil change, guy took the car back to his mechanic. Mechanic points out that it's the same filter mechanic installed 5 changes ago. Chris Chris
  14. Not that much of a Dylan fan, but like Hendrix. Chris
  15. NOT a CUV fan, but these are growing on me somewhat as well. But I do like the Gold Mist Metallic better than the Mocha Steel Metallic, BTW. The Mocha Steel makes the design look a little to heavy, while the Gold Mist seems to lighten it up some. Chris
  16. I like the red one, myself, the one with 114K on it. But I agree on a flush...you may want to flush it a couple of times using cheap oil. For older motors (don't flame me, please!) I use Shell Rotella, which seems to be good oil, reasonable cost, and works fine in gasser motors as well as diesels. If nothing else, maybe the cam is wiped in the Buick motor. If everything else checks out Okay...time for a perfromance upgrade perhaps? You Buick is acting a bit like my 66 Mustang Fastback did , when the cam had issues. Change of cam and she ran great for 5 more years. Chris
  17. I like 'blu's idea. I've known people to do that...and you could control an actual under dash stereo with a remote. Seen it done in vintage cars to keep a vintage radio in the radio slot and the dash uncut...but bring in modern tunes. Chris
  18. It will be a hot car...do wish it came 6MT. Chris
  19. Reality and cars seldom go together. Really beautiful 4th gen LT-1 car went for 6k here...but had a salvage title. But it was in just amazing shape, and the accident it had been involved in had been fairly minor. It was about the same color as the Bonneville I was talking about in the other thread... SWEET car. I can see why you guys love that car that much. Chris
  20. I think closing Saturn will work well for GM, although I am sad to see it happen. Somewhere in PA not far from you is a closed Olds dealer, forget where... looks like a time capsule from the 1970's...when I drove past it I had very fond memeories of Cutty's from my youth. Chris
  21. Wish an Aurora to our Intrepid leader on his birthday! Have a good day, guy! Chris
  22. Just turned around again...to watch a 1970ish Blazer go into a lake...ouch!
  23. Kind of interesting, kind of sad. My wife and youngest daughter (christina) are sitting here watching some old movie from the 1970's. Just heard tire noise, turned around to watch the tube...and watched a 58 Chevy ragtop go over a cliff. Wild how many cars have been wrecked in movies, eh? Chris
  24. http://www.sccaforums.com/forums/thread/387381.aspx MY kind of Firebird!
  25. I would agree with you 100%, Camino. What I was sharing were my thoughts on the ideal 'bird... ..mild suspension upgrade/tuning and enjoy as is. Chris
