  1. I drove a similar car (it's Chevelle brethren) through high school. Chris
  2. Actually our local library has regular tournaments. My eleven year old son regularly beats adults who have been playing for quite some time, and can beat most of the teens in the library chess league. I'm going upstairs to take an after work shower, after which I'm going to probably get owned by an eleven year old. And hell, I was on the Chess Team in high school. Chris
  3. Anyone else interested in a Central Ohio get together? If you can't make it Thurs or Friday, I would like to meet any other GM fanatics that want to get together and talk about cars and life. As the old saying goes, let's do lunch! Chris
  4. We may wish to close this thread and start a new one in the politics section. Thank you everyone for your concern and response about my son. He's had a rough summer... But he's doing really much better at the moment, so I am pretty happy for him right now. Chris
  5. You might try Chess and like it, Cubical... About to play a few rounds with my younger son. Chris
  6. Nice Nice Integra pic...LOVE IT! I don't mind Integras per se, but some of the ricer boys can be idiots. Chris
  7. ...so I'm talking to a guy I know who runs a MINI Cooper S and was at a track day at Nelson Ledges, which is up by Cleveland. Anyhow, kid in an Acura Integra comes up to him before the open track event and says in broken english "you...very old man...you fat...have very...very slow car...you see me...you get the phuc out of my way...you hear old man..." About ten laps into the session the MINI driver laps the modified Integra. About antoehr 7 laps and the MIMI laps the Integra again. After 5 more laps, the MINI passes the Integra to lap it a third time. After the hot lapping session the guy I know goes up to the kid and says, in mock broken english... "What's wrong with your car...is it brokee?" Kid was PISSED! Chris
  8. Kids...when they are little they step on your toes, when they are big they step on your heart. Just don't blame yourself. I've said this before but... If you think your a good parent...have another kid, you'll think otherwise. If you think your a bad parent...have another kid, you'll think otherwise. Children make their own choices, sometimes there is nothing that you can do about it. Just like my son's friend. Chris
  9. Not holding my breath on the Cruze. HHR has the advan of being 4 doors. Aside from racing, I don't like sunroofs because they leak, dammit! Doesn't matter if its an Audi or a Porsche or a Nissan or a Honda or a Chevy. A sunroof is a deal breaker for me because I don't want water in the car. If I wanted water in the car I would buy a vintage Mustang Convertible. The VW GTI thing has the disadvantadge of having a rather immature owners group in some ways. Go check out VW Vortex and the Car Lounge and you will swear that you are back in 7th grade. Chris
  10. Not just yes...but HELL YES to a boat tail riv....beautiful car! Chris
  11. reg, there are no good answers. MINI right now has a problem with a cold start knock in their motors. Go to Northamericanmotoring.com. to read about it. Until they solve that...meh. Hopefully they solve it...but they are on their 4th "fix" now. Focus...if they come out with an SVT version...hmmm...but your right about the kinetic angry fish thing. I would have to really talk hard to get my wife to buy the styling on the Focus. She is not a fangirl of it... HHR SS...I would have been tempted for 18K in blue. Too many in red and black, Hyperv6 and I have already had that little talk. Perhaps a little heavy up top for a track day or an autocross. Plus...you can't delete the sunroof with an HHR SS, can you? That would be a deal breaker for me as I do not want a sunroof or an automatic for any reason or under any conditions. A new GTI at four grand for the whole car with the DSG would still be a big "no" for me. Methinks I am heading for GTI ownership, which is slightly problematic...but may be my best choice... Chris
  12. Don't worry, 'blu. I've already arranged for those Camaro's to be crushed because they contain too much black plastic in the interior. Chris
  13. I don't know if I would disown. However, let her face the music for what she has done. That has worked wonders for all five of my children. As the leader of my eleven year olds Boy Scout troup says, Never do for a boy what he can do for himself. Sounds like the same advice could go for your daughter as well. Chris
  14. Better words were never spoken! Chris
  15. Last one for right now...has there ever been a car that has said "get in and drive me" like this car does? Chris
  16. Has there ever been a car that can pull off so many "looks" from any other carmaker??? Ever? Again, a racecar look from a totally different theme, and it still works. Chris
  17. These things just look so damned good as race cars, also. This one just has "the look" Chris
  18. The houndstooth interior on these cars is great. Really a nice detail that "makes" the car, IMHO. Chris
  19. Love the "Hockey Stripes" on these. Chris
  20. New Camaro looks good as a Sunoco car as well. Chris
  21. Crappy pic...we talked about how good the new Camaro looks in white, the 69 isn't any too shabby either. Chris
  22. Be done post slutting in a minute, but I love the C pillar, spanked down roofline, and tail light treatment on these cars. Neat old mopar next to this one also.
  23. Love to see project cars coming together...
  24. This is my fav. 69 Camaro pic of all that I have posted...
