  1. The economy really sucks right now.... Sorry to hear about your job loss. Chris
  2. Me too, always had a soft spot for Malibu wagons 64-65. If you ever get to columbus, one of my neighbors (okay, guy lives just outside my development) has a really sharp 64 Malibu that is dark blue with old style Crager SS wheels. He ran out of gas just down the street from me coming back from a car show and I got a good close up look at his car. VERY nice. There was a well redone 65 wagon running around Columbus for a long time and then the car just disappeared. I like the two door wagons and esp. the El-Camino of that era, myself. Didn't Chevy also build a few panel vans based on that style 'bu...or am I wrong? Chris
  3. VW builds some nics cars. Too bad the dealer network sucks so badly, esp. in regards to service. That being said...all I can say is Wow! But I like the GTI even better myself.
  4. My daughter Joanna works as a volunteer teen at Pets Without Parents, a no kill animal shelter. The building is right next to a repair garage, and a C4 corvete sits along with a second gen Camaro, rotting away behind the garage. I count six C3 Vetts and an equal number of Second gen Camaro's rotting away within walking distance or short biking distance of my house. The amazing way that second gen Camaro's were destroyed would make a very long, sad and strange novel. Even in 1981 when I started driving, these cars were rusting badly in the midwest. I remember cars less than 10 years old with shot trunk floors and rockers...and visible rust bigtime on cars less than five years old. Guy who lived behind me when I was 12-13 had a pristine 73 RS/SS (Yellow, IIRC) that he traded in. Next owner beat the $h! out of it and drove it to an early death. That was just common with the era. Personally I'd just love an early second gen... Chris
  5. Being 43 years old and actually having spent time in Junkyards when I was a kid and wrecked examples of these cars were everywhere... Yes, even though they may suck in other ways...cars of the era were not that safe. Chris
  6. Mid Ohio Vintage is the twenty eighth. Let me know if you'll be there...I'll try not to be on call that weekend. Chris
  7. Lucas electricals
  8. To me the 55 has it all over the 68. That 55 is one of the best pontiac designs ever...the 68 is just another old vette imho. Chris
  9. Cancelling that truck was just profoundly stupid. Chris
  10. Pull the trigger and buy that car. Seriously. Chris
  11. How far from Philly are you? Dropping my daughter off for a summer job in Scwenksville, at Camp Joy. Chris
  12. I'd like to have some C and G get togethers. I am actually driving to Philly tomorrow...if anyone wants to hook up late Saturday or early Sunday. Not sure where you live 'blu, or Viper, or Oldsmoboi, or.... But yeah, we could have get togethers. I'd like to have a few guys out to Ohio to see the Air Force Museeum in Dayton (which is fabulous) and autocross with either our local SCCA group or the Buckeye Miata Club. We have a few good places to eat around here...there is a great redneck biker bar just a few miles from my house that is a lot of fun to go to and they have great cheap food. We could also have a get together here in Ohio sometime and link it up with a race at Mid Ohio. Chris
  13. A good friend of mine has a father who bought a 340 Dart new in '68 with a 340 and a 4 speed. He ran down his share of Mach 1 mustangs with 428's, SS396 Camaro's and 442 Cutty's in that car. Saw a dark green 68 GTS coupe for sale on a car lot in Washington Ct house, Ohio awhile back. I have a soft spot for these cars. The 4 speed just makes it that much more my type of car. Chris
  14. Nice looking truck, good price, wonder about the miles. Nice that it hasn't been modded or abused. 1994 would be the first year for R134a right? So it wouldn't need R12 to charge the system....hmmmm.... (although I fix refrigeration and can buy R12) Wish had a space in the garage for it...really, as 'blu said...a nice looking truck. Chris
  15. Clams Chris
  16. Camino, I just hate you...not really...but I'm fighting a serious urge to raid my 401K of 25K and driving to Philly to buy that Monte. Everyone here knows I have a fetish for green cars...and being that clean and an SS 454...OMG. We used to have a tan on black SS454 that ran around my old hometown of Muncie, IN. When I was a teenager. Nice, mellow aftermarket exhaust...that car just sounded right. Chris
  17. The car is just absolutely the cat's ass in the Black Cherry. I like what your thinking, Von. Chris
  18. I almost pulled gthe trigger to buy one from Whiteside Dodge a few years ago. The truck was red, 4wd...NICE product. Would have pulled a formula Ford on a trailer quite nicely, I think. But that was before the economy went dead. Chris
  19. Glad we've got more cool cars in the Cheers and Gears Family. It's be even better once GM4life and Camino get their rides home. ...and Mustang 84 is looking like he'll get a better car also. Maybe we can hire the Mafia to steal Satty's Prius and torch it...then we'll be all set. Chris
  20. ...and in answer to Food I'm going to say Lobster.
  21. A friend of mine in college got circumcised when he was ninteen. Not fun. One of my sons is circumcised and the other is not. Painful to watch them do that to a newborn...a penis is a horrible thing to mangle. Chris
  22. the 48 Chev and the 51 Ford are sweet also. I love old pikc-em-ups... Love the Patina on that Ford. I'd just get the flathead going and drive that puppy. Chris
  23. I am right there with you...although I would keep the 350. Perfect car for a warm summer evening. God, I miss my Chevelle. Chris
  24. Love the really clean underhood vibe...NICE! Chris
