  1. Depends, I live in Columbus, own a 91 mazda MX-6, 97 GMC Safari, 05 Scion xB. All of them have been on the road in Ohio there whole life and none of them have any outer body or frame rust. Toyota simply screwed the pooch on this one. chris
  2. ...and actually I think you are right about the J-Body Cavaliers devolving over time. My wife and I had an 85 Cavalier when we were first married, two door type ten coupe. 43.5 mp.g. once on a trip, thing was one of the best running carsa I'vce ever owned. Like my old RWD Cutlass, I STILL miss that car. Chris
  3. M30, Sir. The Cavalier isn't worth fixing up...IMHO. Unless by Solid you mean no rust, in which case I would say go for it if only to flip it for some cash. But seriously, M30. You won't go wrong. Chris
  4. Kenny, my college room-mate my sophomore year, drove one of these. 7.5 miles per gallon is about right. Chris
  5. Saw a G8 in white at the Pontiac Dealer down in Circleville. God what a car! Chris
  6. Actually best dashboards.... Really liked 60's Pontiacs better. Much nicer IMHO. Also liked the "dual cockpit" of the old Mustangs and C-2 Corvettes. Those were sexy. ...but Chrysler had some great dashboards also. Chris
  7. Maybe instead of a key you need a brick? Chris
  8. Actually I own one of each...Toyota it is rumored copied the Astro-Van for the xB. Apparently the Astro van is a popular vehicle in Japan, and supposedly Toyota had an Astro in the design studio when they penned the xB. Don't know if this is true, but the resemblence is uncanny. Chris BTW, Funny thread guys, thanks!
  9. +1 Great!! LMFAO Chris
  10. The Cobalt and Malibu are great cars, both seem to really be selling well around here. Glad to see the six speed and the xfe. Chris
  11. Really nice early 50's chev pick-em up, and a nice black GMC truck from the same era. Chris
  12. They do...this is a major F.U. Off topic story though about GM frames. Our Safari was hit behind by a damned SEMI TRUCK. My wife was sitting at a red light and she was hit from behind by a truck doing about 25 m.p.h. It pushed the Safari THROUGH the intersection and about 30 feet beyond. When the body shop went to fix the frame, they pulled the Safari onto the frame rack and pulled a few measurements....still to perfect factory specs. That after being ass-ended by 80,000 pounds of fully loaded coal truck. The body guy just backed it off of the frame rack, and the body shop issued a credit to the insurance co. Now THAT is a damned frame! Chris
  13. Cool site, thanks! Chris
  14. Who makes the best Heavy duty shocks for a Safari van? I use it for hauling and I may soon be using it for some towing, and I need an upgrade. Chris
  15. How much dead dinosaur juice is your G6 drinking? Trying to talk a friend into buying one, and would like some real world numbers from owners, please. Chris
  16. ...and Oh, yeah, I am at the Library writing this now. As soon as I leave here I'm headed over a few blocks to the Pontiac dealer to see this thing up close. Chris
  17. Jesus, it is so amazingly good to see the American car back on the road. Big, comfortable, V8 power, style, presence...even if it is built in Austrailia. I am the resident C&G small car fan and this thing has me in a sort of automotive lust I haven't known in a good 25 years. Chris
  18. I've found that in large, flashy dealerships I usually get treated like crap. In smaller stores in outlying areas or family owned type buisnesses in Urban areas I'm treated pretty well. This A.M. I got the Safari Van serviced at Firestone. I had a WONDERFUL talk with the African-American women who was getting here Hyundai serviced at the same time. Angie, the woman at the counter treated us both with a lot of respect. It's cool when things go well. Chris
  19. While I am voting Democratic in the fall, it pains me greatly to think that I could be furthering the union cause by doing so. I also am sick to death of unions. Chris
  20. ...agreed. let them sit home without pay for six months and we'll see how well they feed their kids and how well they make their house payments. Chris
  21. Cool! $1000 Cash towards the Astra or the G6. Now if my Scion xB were only paid off, I would be in the showroom in a heartbeat. Chris
  22. Here is actually to keeping the B-59. That car is really unique and cool, and I personally would be very sad to see it go. Chris
  23. From the front, and in that Color, that Acura is a sweet looking car. Chris
  24. Off topic I know...but, ...and another rare MT Chevy I think I've told Ya'll about before. Back in 69 my friend Alan ordered a new 69 Camaro, red on red, with a 350 4v and a Close ratio 4 speed. He chickened out on the 350 and ordered a 307 instead, but forgot to change the tranny choice on the order form. That was probably the only red on red 307 4 speed 69 Camaro the general ever built! Sadly, Alan went blind a few years later and had to sell the car. Interestingly, he learned to play chess after he was blind and went on to play in the national blind chess championship several years in a row. Great guy! I'm glad he got to enjoy that Camaro before he lost his sight. Chris
