  1. I actually thought the reviewer should have been kinder to the Chrysler product. they seemed to have some below the surface doubts about the G6 but still put it in first place. Chris
  2. As an aside it is amazing how much we waste environmentally by building big flashy buildings and then tearing them down. In ten or 15 years those buildings will be "dated" and they will be torn down to build the next white elephant. Chris
  3. There is a 70 Cutlass ragtop for sale here in Columbus with those stupid 26" wheels and 4 tv sets and all the other Gangsta crap...I want so bad to go buy that car and save it. But the $13,000 they want for it is too much for a project car. Chris
  4. Enjoy the HHR. Great vehicle, can't beat a small wagon like that with a family. Chris
  5. Ditto on the brake thing, otherwise pretty bulletproof. Chris
  6. Mobil 1 it may well be. The dealer inspection thing makes sense also, they would know what usually goes wrong. Thanks! Chris
  7. Find someone who can weld-it doesn't need to be pretty. I wouldn't drive the car long distance, however. Chris
  8. Being a fan of GM, Mazda and MINI I thought it was a great month. Was really glad to see Hyundi and Kia down bigtime. Chris
  9. Again, diesels would make great sense in the HUMMER lineup. Fuel costs will be huge for truck owners, and there are lots of people who need trucks for buisiness reasons. the sooner GM can get more diesels to market the better. Chris
  10. When it comes to spin from the automotive media I never understimate the products of my bowls. Chris
  11. I think you hit it 100%. The economy is in the craphouse, and people aren't buying cars like people had hoped. Glad to see GM has cut back production and fleeting, they may be the best positioned of the domestic big three to weather the storm. Chris
  12. I think the farmer that drives it is the same guy who raises all those little ears of corn you get in Chinese food... Chris
  13. Our 97 Safari has 132,000 miles and after almost selling it I've decided to keep it. Other than fluid changes, keeping it clean and clear of Ohio road salt, and making sure it gets regular excercise what do you suggest to keep this thing "on the road?" Chris
  14. Visit your local Nissan dealer. There will be no shortage of Horse Manure, even if it is in a large city. Chris
  15. Maybe I need to hang out on church street then. Chris
  16. One of the things Oldsmoboi, Balt, Sixty Eight and others here are making me aware of is how Japanese "luxury" cars don't really have the feel/features/heritage of a real luxury car. I can put up with a cheap interior if I spend $5k on a used 96 Miata for a weekend car. In a $35k "luxury" car like Lexus or Acura or Infinity the Japanese (I am finally seeing) really can't compete. Also realizing how cheap/featureless the interiors of other "upscale" cars like the EVO and STI are also. Wondering if maybe some of youyr Canadian comrades are feeling the same thing. A Toronto Lexus dealership would not be high on my "to own list" right now. With the dollar so weak though, why would Americans go to Canada to buy a car? Also, aren't there a million legal and tax issues for moving a north of the border car south? Chris
  17. Off topic, but... My son is looking at an automotive related trade school. We went to an open house and the local Chevy dealer had a nu bu there and I got to spend some serious time taking a look while Joel talked with the school's teachers. The nu bu is probably one of the hottest new cars in the last 5 years, maybe even the last ten. And I ain't even a midsize sedan type of a guy. The dual cockpit feel of the interior is just perfect-it is similar to the cadillac CTS. Have always liked dual cokcpit feel interiors since the early Vettes and early Mustangs. Nice to have GM back on top. Chris
  18. The restored example that Tulsa had on hand was a nice looking car. Let's see what this looks like when they are done. Chris
  19. That's the other car I regret not buying. About 9 years ago i had a chance to buy a 74 Vega GT with a seriously built 350. Car was one of what must have been 3 rust free Vegas left in the world and would run 12's on street tires. I had a foreign exchange student living with me from France who kept talking about European cars. Had my buddy show up at the house and give the kid a white nuckle ride in that Vega. For some strange reason Oliver never mentioned European cars again. He did smile a lot getting out of that Vega, though. Chris
  20. Son of my friend Lee has a very nice restorable 74 442. Scott picked it up at a grage sale for $700. Some guys have all the luck. Chris
  21. I can drive a Miata without loosing manliness, does that count? (but I still like Camaro) Chris
  22. Would hate to see Ford go away. But I agree, and will donate my Remington to the cause if you will kindly round up the arch-idiots from the design studio who penned these wonders in the first place. Chris
  23. The vintage Mustang guys swear by it. And as everyone knows, the 60's mustangs could have been built out of stainless steel by Ford and kept in a climate controlled garage in Arizona...and they still would have rusted. Seriously, I doubt the Shadow is gone. Find someone who can weld and you probably can be back on the road pretty easily. Shadow is a tough car, even in salt. Brother-Sister in law live in Buffalo and theirs went forever with only minor rust issues so unless your parking yours out in the Atlantic I doubt very seriously if it is "gone." Chris
  24. Be glad to see the real 'volt come out. Chris
  25. Anybody who drives the Kia van and buys it deserves what they get. We drove a new one several years ago when we bought our GMC Safari. Even though the Safari was a refreshed 1985 design it still seemed much better than the Kia. Really not impressed with any of the Kia lineup. Chris
