Yeah... they went to the trouble of federalizing the SS sedan, giving lip service to their enthusiast base... then kept it a deep, dark secret. When it did not sell on par with Charger (I guess "production constraints" or whatev prevented this... Aussies bought all of them as Commodores?) they killed it unceremoniously... and used it as an example of why RWD enthusiast sedans from an iconic American brand known for performance since the mid-50's don't sell. I will always say the Commodore/G8/SS did not sell well enough in the USA for two reasons: generic styling that could fit any GM brand with a grille change, and MARKETING. It certainly was not because of a lack of performance ability.

Chevrolet News:Corvette C8 Almost Sold Out Already
ocnblu replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
Even if it starts out on the topic of puppydogs. Or submarine sandwiches. Ad nauseam. I think Chevrolet is surprised at how well the C8 has been received. Feedback ahead of the reveal was a bit negative toward the ME layout. But the car won the world over when it reached the light of day. I also read that the biggest reason a manual transmission was not engineered for the car... is lack of take rate on the C7 as of late... something like 20%? I would think in the scheme of things these days, with all the ninnies who never learnt, that 20% would be a good percentage. Oh well. -
Chevrolet News:Corvette C8 Almost Sold Out Already

How are these companies trying to force EVs on a disinterested public? By stopping the manufacture of everything else. It's gonna look more and more like Mad Max out there... or Cuba. And whether these obstinate CEOs (BARRA) realize it or not, they will suffer for it. Sigh... no dfelt, that's not what he is saying. Here, take my hand. Let's go for a little walk and I'll explain it to you. -
Chevrolet News:Corvette C8 Almost Sold Out Already

I already posted my loving comments about the new Corvette in its introductory form. Ram's e-torque is a scam that does nothing. -
Any electric replacement for the Malibu will sell at a fraction of what the Malibu sells now.. .and the current car is not exactly setting the sales charts on fire. Guaranteed.

Well, with Chevy you could get a WT regular cab in any other color, and put in a white grille from the Custom model, then paint your bumpers, mirror caps and roof white. Dodge has the same possibility (white Express grille...) hmmm... and I guess Ford does too (white STX grille, etc.) I have no photoshopping skeels though, so I can only visualize it in my head.

Don't just chime in for the sake of it, surreal. You know damn well it would never work, and it was posted purely to troll the thread. "Progress" can only be termed as such when it actually changes something for the better.- 38 replies

What a lameass statement. Clueless. Would they intentionally wish to drop midsize truck sales by 98%?- 38 replies

I was behind a person who was driving 5-10 under the limit on a 2-lane. Passed him and settled back to the posted limit. He then proceeds to ride my butt for like 5 miles. I hate him.

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Silverado Diesel Gets 33mpg Highway
ocnblu replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
Hard to believe the 33 MPG number. Do beef curtains really enhance aero THAT much? The truck is massive, some would say unnecessarily so, and brick-nosed. But I do trust GM and their MPG testing. 33 MPG is for 2WD of course, with 4WD rated at 29 MPG. Still rather drive what I have. Would have strongly considered diesel if it were available in a non-ZR2 extended cab. Uncle says his neighbors are reporting 18 MPG with their crewcab ZR2 Duramax.- 38 replies

I don't know, maybe with the 10-speed, the midsize twins with the 4 cylinder diesel could eke out a better MPG rating?- 38 replies

? How is the supplier relevant, when the supplier builds to the manufacturer's specifications. To the "T". Dana comes to mind.

Hyundai News:Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Revealed with Solar Roof
ocnblu replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Hyundai
When it's $550 for a grille emblem, $1550 for the front radar unit on a 2018 Sonata Hybrid, I am wondering how expensive this roof unit is. There's gonna be a boatload of totaled Hyundais in a few short years with minor structural damage. Plus I am sure I'll get to see them in our mechanic shop. Not a matter of like or loathe, more of mild amusement. And dismissal. -
How ppl ate on road trips, before the plethora of fast food joints made everyone fat.

Waste of water. Get out of the shower, spray it down with cleaner. Next time you're dirty enough to need another one, jump in with your scrubber. The warm water melts the crap and makes it super easy to clean. You and your shower end up squeaky.
