  1. The current 1 is the only BMW I really like. I can appreciate its pugnacious stance and its very tidy size. The new 2 looks to improve on the current car. I'm interested in seeing more of it. But I also like the CLA, and I am usually not a 4-door kinda guy.
  2. We've already seen spy shots of the new 2-Series that replaces the 1.
  3. Best looking car in its class. Expensive as heck though. Loaded ones go for like $27k MSRP. And we haven't seen the Speed3 yet!
  4. No pedigree.
  5. "Akerson also reiterated a call he made earlier this year for the Administration and Congress to create a new, consumer-driven national energy policy from a position of strength and abundance." Sounds like one of the smartest things I've heard him say. It doesn't work when it comes from the top down, it must come from the bottom... up. CAFE sucks!
  6. Nice. Good idea. Does it have a trunk?
  7. Welcome news on both fronts.
  8. An ELR with body panels that double as batteries would be pure genius... and it might be worth $76k. Pretty cool, what Volvo's working on.
  9. I agree, you keep your beloved Intrepid looking good, but these photos look familiar. Are they new?
  10. We got in a "stripper" 2014 Mazda 3 hatch in black. $19,710. Plastic wheel covers, no foglights, and a funny little radio sticking up, billboard style in the dash where the retractable screen goes on the higher end models.
  11. They are renting them for the fantasy. Returning them early in the contract time for the reality. There are an infinite number of reasons why someone would rent a car in the first place. For example in my line of work, the majority of people don't drive the rental far at all, while their car is in the shop for body repair. A big percentage of Enterprise's business comes from bodyshops.
  12. The point of the article, in case you hadn't noticed is... people are returning electric rentals and exchanging them for something useful for the duration of the time they need a rental. Because they don't want to be stranded. Hello.
  13. Lovely how electric car proponents in this thread are talking about everything except the posted topic of the thread.
  14. Oh ye of great automotive peril, jacket, have a good one!
  15. My uncle has a black on black '62, it's a real nice bridge between first gen and second gen, with the duck tail.
  16. Cool, Mr. dfelt. Good luck at the show, and we'll be waiting for the photos.
  17. Yo. Welcome aboard, James.
  18. Hopefully you've had a good day, sir.
  19. Yeah, emergency call "jokes" aside, it would be a Cayman for me... or, in a perfect world... an El Miraj with a gasoline V8 engine.
  20. Yeah, if I had that kind of money, I'd much rather call 911.
  21. Available in like 4 or 5 unexciting colors, with a choice of two wheel finishes. Not exactly "bespoke", is it?
  22. Malibu is on Epsilon II, I believe, and Cruze is on Delta II. The Cruze Eco is a simpler concept than e-Assist. e-Assist is a conglomeration of components designed solely to reduce trunk room, add complication under the hood with a giant alternator, and produce vaporous fuel economy gains. It is a junk system. Cruze Eco achieves its higher mileage ratings through thinner sheetmetal, lightweight wheels, low rolling resistance tires, active grille shutters, underbody shields and (afaik) different transmission gearing. Nothing hocus-pocus (or complicated) about it. However, even the Cruze Eco, with its simple formula for success in the chase for higher mileage ratings bragging rights, is not that much more economical than a normal model Cruze. The new diesel model is the way to go if one is interested in meaningful mileage gains... if only it were available with a six speed manual transmission... Not sure what is on the list of modifications for the '14 Corolla Eco v. a normal LE model, will have to read up on that. I am sure it is nothing groundbreaking.
  23. Thanks for posting this again. It's very enthralling, at least for me.
  24. I am at a loss here. I just do not understand the ELR's pricing strategy.
