  1. I just realized the turbo, if you read the decklid, turns the car from a Verano to a Veranot. What has been seen cannot be unseen.
  2. I like the looks, generally, of the new Malibu. A silver one passed me the other day and it looked good rolling. The outgoing one was elegant with no trace of sport, the new one is sporty of line, a trait of successful Chevy sedans of yesteryear. I want to see what they do with the turbo model. The public is not stupid. They know eek-Assist is junk. I just hope it's not too late for this car to be a success when the real engines arrive. The new Fusion is very future-think in style, where the Malibu plays on nostalgia and emotion. I like them both for different reasons, but wonder what Ford will do with the Taurus for the next go-round since the Fusion is good-sized. A new RWD Taurus would be like a Boss 302.
  3. When's the Hemi-in-a-crate due to arrive???
  4. I can still carve things wif it.
  5. A fork has been stuck in SAAB so many times it's a joke, and the final taser shot of electricity is unfunny.
  6. If it was Ackerson's decision to bring this car forward when it was not ready, he effed up big time. A large majority of these will be sold with the 2.5L engine. By bringing it out with eek-Assist only, real potential customers are going to forget about it by the time the 2.5 is out. It will have to be re-launched with an expensive marketing campaign. That's money GM could be spending on R&D for new products that people WANT.
  7. uh oh... is "honeycake" a euphemism for something disgusting?
  8. Just cut the other three, invest in some spray cans of black primer, finish it off with scallops, and RIDE LO IN THE VOLVO YO
  9. A Delray is the cleanest, by virtue of its base model status. Biscayne was next, with just a little bit of decoration. Darn it I had a nice YouTube video embedded but I can't find the button to enable HTML. WTH.
  10. I had to look closely at both side by side when told that the '58 Impala had a lot of different sheetmetal from the lesser models. I know that Chevy is ubiquitous to some, but a '58 Bel Air, Biscayne or Delray is a prime candidate for Cleanest Car Of The Year. I especially like the Chevy and the black Cadillac in these shots.
  11. Those Forenzas and Veronas were two major reasons Suzuki lost what few customers they had here in America... and they were not Suzuki products, they were GMDAT products forced on Suzuki by GM. "Real" Suzuki products were not nearly as utterly horrible. I remember reading that the Suzuki chairman was very angry with GM for ruining their reputation in the US over those two models... and after Suzuki supplied GM with the plucky little Sprint and Metro...
  12. Anyone want a triple green '74?
  13. Don't get me started on the honeysuckle pie VW Polo and Up...
  14. Yeah Riv, I know what they're doing with this. They're maximizing profits per unit. I guess it might weed out young and po folk who are in to speed.
  15. Good Lord I wonder if the part number is the same between Pontiac and Chevy for the hood that year. They look damn close. Probably not, because the Pontiac hood was likely drilled for the lettering. Thanks fer the full frontal shots, balthy. You've become the C&G Porn King between these and the Curves thread.
  16. It'll prolly be tuned for similar EPA mileage figures, but with at least 50 more horses.
  17. My very short (3 months!) ownership of a 2012 Cruze 1LT 1.4T 6 speed manual was in no way reflective of the car itself. If someone came to me and asked which compact sedan to buy depending on their budget, I'd say Cruze or Verano in a heartbeat of America.
  18. Any given Denali package is prolly 95% profit with economies of scale factored in. They're blingy, imo, and do not add functional value since the demise of 4WS on the early Denali pickups.
  19. If I were your landlords and the car had a good inspection last round, I'd just locate a used spring, have it installed with an alignment and call it a day. It could be kept there at the big house for the occasional run to and fro.
  20. Are those parts prices OE or Carquest/NAPA/Autozone/Pep Boys? Can you do it for them and just send it out for alignment afterward, or have they made a final decision? Shoot, if it's a broken spring on a car that passed inspection, why not just snag a spring out of a junkyard... do you have a spring compressor?
  21. It amazes me to see how tall I am when standing next to a double-wishbone Honda product, pre-MacPherson strut. The cowls are so sweet and low. Now everything out there's so high-cowled it's ridiculous. Crash/pedestrian standards, or just fashion? If some maroon steps in front of my vehicle, wouldn't it be better to have my bumper hit 'em in the ankles so it flips 'em up on the hood, or in the midsection so it knocks 'em down and underneath (bleh, I just made myself sick).
  22. I think I posted an Ecoboost MKS drag race vid after the car had been tuned. I think it was in the 13s, but I forget now, it's been many moons. Question: if you have to stay out of the throttle, what's the point in springing for the better motor? I'd buy it precisely for the fun factor. You can buy a Sonic with the granny 1.8... or you can step up to the 1.4T with 6 speed manual... I know which one I'd want. I was able to thrash my little Fiesta with 1600 motor and still get stellar mileage. What're folks getting out there in a Sonic 1.4T, I wonder... When we're speaking of trucks though, a simple mule of a V8 is the real deal.
