  1. Shoot, I had an epic idear for a thread, but now I forgot what it was.
  2. HOW could this car survive so long without soft-touch dash materials?
  3. What's offensive about Garage Man's Companion?
  4. It's always a nice shock to see something so out of the ordinary.
  5. First off, apologies to caddycruiser and regfootball. Earning a living can be difficult at times, I know... I stopped @ the local Ford dealership this afternoon to check out a new Escape, it was an SE AWD 1.6, priced at $27k. Usually this dealership lets ppl browse, but today a salesguy came out and started pitching. He said "yeah, how do you like it?" I said, "Yup, the new Focus wagon," and so the tone was set. He said with the automatic liftgate, Ford is cautioning ppl against waving your leg back and forth to open it because you can fall down. Just one kick straight ahead is the preferred way to do it. I asked if there will be a warning label to avoid lawsuits. He got the key and let me start it up. The interior seems lifted directly from the Fiesta and Focus. I told him that. He seems to think that's OK. I looked longingly over at the 2012 Escapes. He said they'll really have to start discounting the old ones once people see the new one. I said "Really? You think so? I like the old one better." He said "REALLY?" I said "Yeah, they can't all be home runs I guess". I gave him the key and he let me go, all the while he was very timid with me. When I pulled out to leave, I noticed an interesting silver automobile at the Subaru dealer across the street... OMG it was a silver BRZ Premium. This car is a tight little stunner in person, WOW. Saleskid was walking with a co-worker outside. He walked over and started his schpiel. From his first words, I was impressed with his professional demeanor and his knowledge of the vehicle. Subaru sent them to a demo school for it in which they got to drive it on a road race course. He let me sit in it, and I have to confess, I caressed the dash pad, ha. We talked about the FR-S and the differences between the two. He didn't have to tell me the Subaru is the nicer twin. Two lamentable things about the BRZ: the engine cover reads "TOYOTA" and below it "SUBARU". I asked him if he had any duct tape to cover up the "T" word. He agreed it was not good. Also, they have $1000 markup on them, for a price of $27k. We talked about the decision to limit production in order to keep prices up. I told him I know every dealership wants a car they can sell at MSRP, and that's fine, but markup is the devil. He remained professional as he stated "we'll get it because they're so rare." He gave me a brochure with his card attached to it, told me of future allocation, but did not pressure me to give my contact info. A very good presentation on a SWEET little car.
  6. That coupe is nice, man. So glad to see it. The GT will not match the Touring, it's a different animal. Touring people will be disappointed... yet another wagon gone.
  7. A more appealing package than the Focus ST, sorry, but that gape up front on the Ford is just not nice.
  8. I'd rather have a Yukon SLE than the current Acadia Denali if I had that sort of moolah. The reskinned Acadia is night-n-day nicer though.
  9. Advertise the Verano turbo carving some canyons and then pulling up at a country club. Show the driver shifting while the muted, refined growl of the Ecotec engine assures a timely entrance. Aww, Mr. dfelt... it says on the decklid of the turbo model "Verano T" if you look at the gallery. It was another of my lame "jokes".
  10. I can think of Sixteen reasons to give such a car the Ciel of approval.
  11. It's no doubt a sweet little machine. I'd have one with a Subaru badge if there were a way I could afford two vehicles.
  12. A beautiful, almost impossible situation having to choose. But I like the Chevy.
  13. I wonder if a GMC motor home weighed any more than this Toro...
  14. Chunk of bondo falling out at RH quarter end cap/bumper area, and ahead of wheel, same quarter. You can see it in cross section.
  15. Cool yes, but even today, GM at times puts some style-over-function bits into their trucks that don't serve them well.
  16. ? uh huh but it will be a USED spring, pre-stressed with miles, not brand new...
  17. ew Moltie yes reg we SHO nuff know sporty Tauruses have been FWD/AWD all their lifes.
  18. Your C6 thread notwithstanding... Yes, DF's done a hell of a job with his car.
  19. Well I'm all for size comparisons. I sawr one at the local dealer, black. Didn't stop, but would like to go back and investigate when they're closed. Also, the Subaru dealer is right up the road from them if I want to see the real version. I hope they have one.
  20. I like that front, actually, but the Falcon bodyshell is cursed with that otherworldly, dated/parallel universe situation that afflicts the Commodore. It's a long-running trait of native Australian cars in relation to their American cousins I cannot quite put my widdle middle finger on. Does anyone know wut I mean?
  21. It started out with a two points heaven.
