    Earth Hour

Yeah, they're fast-growers. I bought 3 for my mom prolly 8 years ago, they were 2 feet tall when we planted them, now they're like 25 feet tall and fat. Come to think of it, I think she goes out there with a long stick and knocks the snow off of them if she thinks it's getting too heavy. What other kind of soft-needle evergreens would be fast growers and suitable as privacy, besides those Leylands? I need something hardy. I think Dogwoods are pretty slow growers, so not sure if I want to plant a pair of those for the center of the back yard, or just get two more ornamental pears, like I put in the front yard. It has grown pretty fast.
  2. Chris did you get your bumper fixed? If so, what was done to fix it?
  3. I am having a hard time comprehending how quickly the Korean manufacturers are improving. If it's really as simple as they seem to make it, then WHY is everyone else so "status quo"? Are these vehicle honestly as good as they appear?

Well, when in Rome, do as the Romans do, that's what I always say. ORRRGY!!!:AH-HA_wink:
  5. Nice retrospective, Ted. Look how far, how fast...

    DODGEFAN

Whoa, Dodgefan is 23 today. Happy Birthday to one of our favourite "Double Agents".
  7. I used to love to sit on the couch in my jammies and watch Speed Racer as a kid. Now when I see "artwork" in this style, it's always borderline pornographic. It is vaguely offputting, but I guess I haven't been exposed to enough of it to form a fleshed-out opinion.

    Facebook

Well after my 25th reunion last year, the girl who organized the whole thing set up a page at Facebook for classmates to keep in touch and stay posted on upcoming reunions. So that's why I joined. This one girl I sort of had a thing with in high school found out I was on there and emailed me yesterday evening... she's a widow... and so she's all excited to "catch up". So I'm glad to hear from her and all, but I am not sure how I'll answer certain questions. The "search" function has turned up a few surprises, as well. Since I just joined, I have no reference as far as earlier iterations of the site. It does seem to have a lot of rather useless features.

    Earth Hour

I forgot about it. Yup, part of the Earth Day tradition was to plant a tree. Arbor Day is another opportunity to adhere to tradition (as if any day wasn't a good day to plant a tree). I have two trees in my backyard that grew wild, they're too close together and they have intertwined themselves, a maple and...something else. I want to cut them down, grind out the stumps, and put in a line of Leland Cypress as a privacy fence, wind break and habitat. I also want to put some sort of tree in the middle of my backyard, something that will stay relatively small.

    20 hour days

I love thunderstorms on a summer night lying naked in bed, but it is a bit odd to hear that soundtrack in March.
  11. "This Bird Ain't No CHICKEN!" Actually, it's a phoenix, a mythical bird that rose from the ashes <=== paraphrase from the latest issue of Pontiac Enthusiast magazine. A cool thing: those iconic snowflake rims are available, reproduced, to fit 4th-gen Firebirds in 17x9, they look so gorgeous in the ad on a black Trans Am. And they're advertising the old-school size of 15x8 as well, a set of 4 for like $650... it makes me want to buy a '78-'87 G-body Pontiac (LeMans, Grand Am, Grand Prix), just so I can put a set of those on...
  12. Well, the thing is, everything she says is correct... I haven't heard her say one thing wrong yet. And as far as the GMT355, I was very pleased with my first-model-year example. If I weren't such a kid in a candy store (HAD TO HAVE a GMT900) and held onto it, I'd have had it paid off in January of this year, a very solid and reliable truck in my experience. I'd own another one, easily.

  14. Sixty8, you bring up a funny point. Wasn't there an ad campaign for that car with the tagline "Wanna Ride My Pony?"
  15. Agreed. It's also annoying the hell out of normal ppl who are on the roads because they actually have to be somewhere, they're not in their own little world, distracted by their video game dashboard, trying to amass points. Ugh. NERD CITTAY... Mr. Swordfish, when it comes to that anime (sp?) stuff, I've seen some pretty racy material.

  17. GM Lover Heaven, right there.
  18. Oh smallchevy, that is a horribly sad story.
  19. PCS, nah, I used Wawa gas in the Sierra. This nice old lady works at Tom's, another local spot. It does seem funny that this little lady knows so much about GM vehicles and their features... I am wondering if her husband is a car salesman.
  20. I get my gas at a local convenience store. There is a lady at the counter in there, about 60 years old. Every time I go in there, she asks me about my car. Does it have Onstar, I need to try the turn-by-turn, is it an '09, it's a nice looking car, she has a Torrent, same as the Equinox, but she likes it, her husband likes Cobalts... etc. etc. When I had my Sierra, I always went to another place to get gas, but before the Sierra, with my Colorado, I used to go in there, and she would always tell me her husband had a Colorado, and that mine was nice looking. It's kind of amusing, especially when she repeats herself every time I see her, but it's also kinda nice to hear. Does anyone else know a sweet, dotty old GM Granny?

    Brilliant idea

Well, apparently it's a potency issue. All those chemical plants giving off noxious fumes, and they gotta pick on li'l ol' me.
  24. Yeah, I'm glad I have a narrah ass. BTW, good review, Satterfield.
