There's something about a sporty, All-American big car that really hits the spot. Didn't Olds also have a few years around this era of Holiday 88 coupe models, with bucket seats and floor shift? Then there was the LeSabre T-Type, with a chrome/black trim package and those classic Buick Road Wheels. Odd that Pontiac (to my knowledge) didn't have a sport-trimmed Bonneville coupe after the successful downsizing of '77.

Bob, you are such a master baiter. Why does it seem like you were looking for a fight? Yes, pushy salesdudes can be annoying, but your "smackdown" was overkill. A simple smile and a firm "just looking", repeated for emphasis, would have sufficed. I know when I went to the Toyota dealership to "look" at the Tundra, then insulted the POS to the salesgirl (I posted about it here), I felt so immature afterward, even though I was right... it is the ugliest truck on the market.

Oh man, AmRev, that would be so sweet. Stick a later model SFI Turbo 3.8 under the hood and watch out! I like the '78-'80 Regal coupes. I'd really like to find a '79 Century Turbo Coupe (the fastback one) one day and stick a bad-ass later engine in it out of a Grand National.

I agree about the Grand Marquis. I actually had an insane idea before I ordered my Sierra: a new Grand Marquis in light blue with black interior, a Flowmaster muffler with dual cat-back pipes and 18" rims. That would have been badass.

Nice looking cruiser, AmRev. I have a soft spot for this gen of big Mopars. My grandfather had quite a few Chryslers in his day, his last was a '77 New Yorker Brougham in bronze with black velour and an off-white vinyl top. The Monaco is decidedly more sporty. -
Could you please take some pictures of Coneheads while you're there and post them?
