  1. It was Railroad Engineers Car of the Year for 1992, from what I understand.

    Winter

We were so spoiled here in SE PA right through December. Now winter is hitting us like a freight train. Not much snow here yet, but Monday is supposed to be 20 degrees for a high with hellacious wind chills. I like snow, but I prefer a nice, gentle snowstorm, about 25 degrees with no wind. I hate winter winds the most.
  4. Gaps are nice and tight. The doors, hood and tailgate shut with a reassuring "thunk". Paint has very little orange peel for a factory job. Perhaps it is my imagination, but this color could look pretty dull on a GMT800, but for some reason on the 900s it seems more lustrous. Not sure if any paint shop improvements went into the factory changeover. I haven't found any fit and finish problems so far. I'm very pleased at the 600 mile mark.
  5. They may be rare, these 50's GMCs, but I'm willing to bet there is a much higher percentage of survivors than any Asian truck of the same vintage.
  6. My dad, retired from his career, has a part time job delivering tires for a local distributor. Mostly, he drives an early 90's Silverado. With 450k miles on it. GM needs to publish, and push, as many of these stories as they can get ahold of. This is excellent advertisement, imo.
  7. Yeah, I saw this in Top Gear or Car magazine a few months back, and I thought it was a cool idear.

  9. Here's the Telltale Heart girl. Can someone tell me which model this is? It's big and sweet, but nothing fancy, it appears to be a base model:
  10. Leveled-out, wider tire pics from the car wash today. Much easier for a vertically challenged guy to reach the tailgate handle now:
  11. This interior is flash-in-the-pan. It will be over within a week. Who would want to look at something like this over the life of a car loan? Junk.
  12. Problems lately, lots of 404, when I can get somewhere, buttons stick, then rush to open. Is it only me?
  13. And no pesky teeth to get in the way.
  14. O RLY? You guys think it might be "a goof"? :AH-HA_wink:
  15. It looks spunky, like those 60's van-based, cabover pickups from Ford and Dodge. Neat in a nerdy way.
  16. mom walked in
  17. An almost impossibly happy ending to the story. Glad she's back home, Marc.
  18. Thanks for the photos, guys. Good ones.
  19. I am going to shut my mouth until I see this car on the dealer lot and on the road. My fear is it will suffer from "not quite right" syndrome like the underappreciated GTO, but I have sketchy evidence to base that fear on. As we've all learned, photographs distort reality. I do have faith in Bob Lutz' judgment, and realize the GTO was done on a shoestring. I want so much for Pontiac to succeed with this car. So I am opening up my mind.

  21. His list of likes includes going into the girls' locker room after hours and sniffing through the louvered locker doors.
  22. Happy Birthday to the lot of you!
  23. Well, I conned my friend Ryan and his sister's bf into helping me install my shackles tonight after work. The truck looks 100% better, nice and level. The weather is crappy here tonight. I want to put up another pic or two to show the improvement. It seems to ride even better now.
  24. "Dateline: Tampa, FL, June 10, 2010. Oldsmobile Aurora not quite totalled when a sparkly new Toyota Kamikaze (God's gift to personal transportation needs) innocently dives out of the sky and slams into it. President of Toyota Motor Corporation of the World demands an apology from Oldsmobile owner."
  25. Yeah, uh, sexy.
