  1. I really wanted to be there this year. Looking forward to the pics. Notice any tasty Vette parts?
  2. I do still respect the Mini.
  3. I heard this was coming a while back - great to have it confirmed. NASCAR who?
  4. In all honesty, I'll never look twice at any of them. Saw a Fiat 500 today - if that is the future, you can count me out.
  5. Bite yer tongue,Olds!
  6. Exactly what I was referring to there, Perv. The implications could be widespread.
  7. Much ado about nothing. The only way that Kia ad is offensive is to the intellect. It really isn't all that great as an ad. Now that Toyota ad, on the other hand, makes quite the impression... or two.
  8. You have no idea how ugly those were in person. My uncle's was white where this one is that mustard color, had a green viynl top, and "turbine" wheels. He dyed the top black, and painted it an inoffensive tan color. It helped... a little. This one model is the low point of El Camino history.
  9. I'd like to see a new Monza (sans Towne Coupe) - I don't recall any substantial problems with the original either. As I recall, it fixed what was wrong with the Vega.
  10. Found a pic:
  11. This car looks so much better as a wagon, it isn't funny. That said, while I appreciate Ocn's nostalgic request, I've always hated the fake woodgrain thing. Did you guys know that an "Estate" version of the El Camino was offered for a breif time? My uncle had one - it took ugly to new heights.
  12. Late second gen Novas show how to do this properly.
  13. I am primarily with DF on this. However, I will say that this ruling creates more questions than it answers.

  15. Congratulations, Lamar! A beautiful name for a beautiful little girl. All the best to you and your wife.
  16. Whatever guys, I don't buy that. Anyway, the tire is finally fixed. I'm now three days behind for something that should have only cost me an hour.
  17. Oh, and still no return call on the tire at 20 of 2:00 in the afternoon...
  18. Yeah, it's gotten pretty bad here. I'm just going to throw-in the towel on this one and wait. BTW, the hole is likely too large of a diameter for a plug, the steel rod that punctured it is bigger than 1/4" in diameter(closer to 3/8"). Still trying to figure out what it is. Given that it is about 3-4' in length, and pointed like a nail on one end, I'm guessing that it was a grounding rod for something at one time.
  19. Meanwhile, the tire still isn't fixed. My local John Deere place is all but worthless. They bought-out and closed the only good one in the area a few years ago. They've had the tire since first thing yesterday morning, and finally called me to say that they can't get the tube for several more days. So, I ask if they have a tire in stock: No. So, I ask if they can just patch the tire without the tube (it is a tubeless type): Maybe they say, but they won't even check until this afternoon. It is so hard to get anything real accomplished in the suburban hell this area has become.
  20. Did a little cruise night research, and it looks like the '78 seats won't work without modification. The earlier seats have the seat belts running through them. I also saw a '72 at the show done up with a 502 and dressed with Baldwin-Motion stripe work. Black and white, and 100% right. It is pushing me in a non-stock direction.
  21. pfft! So what? Juries routinely award absurd amounts to the undeserving in such cases. More likely though, a settlement was reached on the advice of self-serving liabilty lawyers, with no jury required. That, in turn, led to the absurd policy I encountered. This sort of disruption to normal commerce is what such lawyers give us as their legacy across the spectrum. They need a leash with a choker collar.
  22. Hope it's a good one.
