Genesis News: Genesis Releases Images of GV80 SUV

It's not a rebadge, totally different platform. This is on a RWD platform.. -
Terriers are often that way... my pack follows me around the house like an entourage, can't go to the bathroom or watch TV without them being close.
-
Surprised to see the Escalade and Canyon/Colorado way down there...I wonder if there are a few specific common trouble areas with those... no surprise about Land Rover; they've been known for poor reliability for decades...
-
I think so..it's weird, but the lower the CR score, the more troublesome I think...Alfa, Land Rover and Fiat are down there, they are traditionally known for unreliability...
-
Oh yeah... I-40 from Flag to OKC is pretty flat and straight, that's where I got my best mileage...
-
That's good mileage...on my trip had my Jeep pretty loaded, couldn't see out the back window. I averaged 22-26, even saw a 28 average at one point (on I-40 across Texas and Oklahoma, flat). Not bad for a 3.6 V6/8 spd auto and 5000+ lbs..

The exterior images are so vague and without detail that it looks like a mid size-ish crossover with a sleek roofline .. the taillight makes me think Dodge.
-
Nice...reminds me of my drive from Phoenix to Cleveland (2100 miles) w/ 6 dogs in June 2017 in my '14 Grand Cherokee. Did it in about 50 hours straight through (about 5 hrs of stops for gas, food, getting the dogs out, dozing). I-40 was so boring going across the void... I'll never do a drive like that again without stopping to stay in a hotel for a full nights sleep each day. It was physically and mentally exhausting. My sister is currently on a 1200 mile drive from Cleveland to West Palm Beach, Florida for a 4 month contract gig down there (she's done with the weekly flying for work, just too worn out from it).

I like the lighting treatment... a clean and subtle design, even with the large grille. -
That said, I do still have a lot of print books and magazines. Subscribed to multiple car magazines in print for decades before switching to digital editions. I used to buy heavy $50-75 soft bound books to learn specific software technologies before switching to PDF editions. I do miss strolling through computer bookstores ( RIP Computer Literacy, Englewood, Co) and physical bookstores (B&N is still around, but I was a long time Borders customer)....

Interesting..didn't realize encyclopedias still existed...good to know they have a digital edition. I love reading and learning, but have long moved beyond the need for paper..

I look back on the late 90s as a period of adventure and growth with good and bad memories..I was in my late 20s, it was the end of my PhD dream/nightmare, breaking it off w/ my fiancee, moving from Michigan to Colorado, the beginning of my corporate career, the death of my father...all in a span of about 30 months from mid 97 to late 99... followed by the early 00s with a period of career growth and adventure in startup companies (that both failed), my first experiences at consulting, etc.. Looking forward to what the next decade brings..
-
Yes, a decade is 10 years...so 2000-2009 and 2010-2019 are two separate decades, at least in this reality. It is fascinating to realize that we are two decades into this century, and that 1999 was over 20 years ago...the last 20 years feel like they have gone by fast...

For my usual use cases, I find Wikipedia quite useful. It's definitely lacking in detail on certain subjects and I've seen factual errors. But I don't have to go to a library and dig through encyclopedias or specialized books when I need to quickly find facts like the wheelbase of a 463 series G-wagen, Robin Trower's discography after 1973, the engine choices on an '89 Regal, facts about the towns on Lake Constance, or the county seat of Knox County, Oh...
-
Wikipedia usually does that starting around Giving Tuesday (Tuesday after Thanksgiving) every year... I usually drop them $20 or so every year as they are a great resource I use everyday... I don't really get any email from them the rest of the year.
-
I read that the 88 had only the 125hp Chevy 2.8 V6, ‘89 gained the 3.1 as an option, the 3.8 added as an option in ‘90. Pretty disappointing after the turbo V6 Regal era. These did have neat dash designs, though.
-
Nice..those were a 2 year only model with the whale Caprice body, '91-92.
-
Sharp Flex @surreal1272. Always liked them because they are so distinctive looking...kind of a modern traditional station wagon form in a world of CUVs.

My ‘14 Grand Cherokee has 20s, and I’ve been happy with the Michelin Defenders I put on it a couple years ago. Been very good the last 3 winters. Beautiful weather today, 65 degrees. Took a drive up the coast this afternoon to a beach and stopped at several parks along the coast on the way home.
-
Studebaker GT Hawk...I think that is a '63...some subtle differences each of the 3 years it was in production ('62-64). The '64 didn't have the aluminum trunk trim.
-
Had a good Christmas, low key..great weather here, 60 and sunny now...unseasonably mild for Cleveland. Unfortunately, fighting a cold and sinus infection. Not fun on a week off... but getting a lot of rest...
-
The white Caprice appears to be a '95-96 with the revised quarter window and opened-up rear wheel arches. The blue wagon is a '69-70 full size Chevy, and the AMC is a '64 Rambler Classic.
-
The Galaxie had aluminum trim there and my favorite was the LTD w/ a taillight there. Earlier big Fords had a cove area between the taillights also, though...'61-64 in particular...higher trim levels had bright trim, lower levels had painted metal there.

Another sunny, mild day in the 50s, another little road trip...250+ miles round trip down to Steubenville along the Ohio River to Ft Stueben to see the memorial brick we bought for my Dad (he was the school superintendent there in the 70s). Had some delicious local comfort food from my childhood (DiCarlos Pizza and meatball sandwiches from Capris). Drove by my childhood home, steep streets w/ brick houses, looks so much like Pittsburgh neighborhoods. Saw a beautiful sunset on US 250 driving along Tappan Lake...love rural Ohio even in the winter.. another day w/ a New Wave soundtrack..

The '67 GP cove panel is very similar to the '67 GTO...I've seen some '67 GTOs with that panel painted black, but I don't think that was factory. Love the tail treatments on the '62s... I love the tail of the '68 Catalina with the taillights dipping into the bumper.
