  1. The Highlander, Rav4 and RX were tiny in the 00s... mostly 4 cyls.
  2. Hummer drivers seemed to be a different type of douchey than European premium car drivers, though...it was faux macho, faux redneckery mixed with doucheyness... ? It's funny, I have a few friends that are veterans of Desert Storm and the Gulf Wars that absolute hate the military HMMMWWWW (what ever it was that became H1)--said they were unreliable and junky in the field, and hate the street Hummers--said they are posermobiles...
  3. Fake news. In the oughts the only full size gas guzzler type SUVs Toyota had were the Sequoia, Land Cruiser and Lexus LX and GX. 4 models compared to GM’s 8... Toyota’s midsize models, the FJ Cruiser and 4Runner probably got better mileage than the GM GMT-360s.
  4. Well, the H2 was hideous looking with a nasty $5 rubbermaid interior.... .so it's a brand known for garbage...the H3 was the same crap in a smaller form factor. Not some of GM's better efforts, best forgotten. Also the owners of them had kind of a douchey image.
  5. Interesting...it's not April 1st.... would be interesting to see if they can revive a tainted brand name..
  6. Nah, it's got the 3 pointed star...
  7. Definitely an E-class...very distinct taillight shape and side creases...
  8. It is interesting...don't think I've ever seen one of the irregularly state plates in person...it would be easy with Colorado and Wyoming--both are rectangles, more problematic with long narrow state shapes like California, Florida, New Hampshire, etc... and Hawaii would have to be one piece...
  9. Yeah, with working from home some weeks I don’t drive at all Monday-Thursday. Or I drive a few miles some days. I think my sister’s hooptie STS uses premium. I drive it occasionally to keep the battery strong and the tires round.
  10. Reality is complex. Everyone’s use case is different. I fill up when it’s down to 1/4 or 1/8th of a tank. Maybe every 2 to 2 1/2 weeks, more often in summer. About $60 or so. It is what it is. The Jeep is fine on 87.
  11. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo-Hydramatic_180 Interesting detail is in most markets, it was used in small RWD 4 cyl models (like the Chevette or Fiat 124), but Holden put it in larger 6-cyl (and maybe V8) models.. Looks like they are still in use, in those funky little Grumman postal trucks that I see skittering around..
  12. Odd...I would have expected Mitsubishi near the bottom rather than the top...
  13. Makes sense in Sunnyvale, though..heart of Silicon Valley. I bet it's a different story at rural Ford dealers in East Dullfield, Indiana or Shitstain, Alabama..
  14. Toyota has a similar color currently, maybe a bit darker. That tan reminds me of a color Ford used in the 80s, as a solid and as part of a two tone. I remember F series in tan and a brick red, tan and green, etc.
  15. It's not a rebadge, totally different platform. This is on a RWD platform..
  16. Terriers are often that way... my pack follows me around the house like an entourage, can't go to the bathroom or watch TV without them being close.
  17. Surprised to see the Escalade and Canyon/Colorado way down there...I wonder if there are a few specific common trouble areas with those... no surprise about Land Rover; they've been known for poor reliability for decades...
  18. I think so..it's weird, but the lower the CR score, the more troublesome I think...Alfa, Land Rover and Fiat are down there, they are traditionally known for unreliability...
  19. Oh yeah... I-40 from Flag to OKC is pretty flat and straight, that's where I got my best mileage...
  20. That's good mileage...on my trip had my Jeep pretty loaded, couldn't see out the back window. I averaged 22-26, even saw a 28 average at one point (on I-40 across Texas and Oklahoma, flat). Not bad for a 3.6 V6/8 spd auto and 5000+ lbs..
  21. The exterior images are so vague and without detail that it looks like a mid size-ish crossover with a sleek roofline .. the taillight makes me think Dodge.
  22. Nice...reminds me of my drive from Phoenix to Cleveland (2100 miles) w/ 6 dogs in June 2017 in my '14 Grand Cherokee. Did it in about 50 hours straight through (about 5 hrs of stops for gas, food, getting the dogs out, dozing). I-40 was so boring going across the void... I'll never do a drive like that again without stopping to stay in a hotel for a full nights sleep each day. It was physically and mentally exhausting. My sister is currently on a 1200 mile drive from Cleveland to West Palm Beach, Florida for a 4 month contract gig down there (she's done with the weekly flying for work, just too worn out from it).
  23. I like the lighting treatment... a clean and subtle design, even with the large grille.
  24. That said, I do still have a lot of print books and magazines. Subscribed to multiple car magazines in print for decades before switching to digital editions. I used to buy heavy $50-75 soft bound books to learn specific software technologies before switching to PDF editions. I do miss strolling through computer bookstores ( RIP Computer Literacy, Englewood, Co) and physical bookstores (B&N is still around, but I was a long time Borders customer)....
  25. Interesting..didn't realize encyclopedias still existed...good to know they have a digital edition. I love reading and learning, but have long moved beyond the need for paper..
