Cadillac News: 2021 Cadillac Escalade Leaks Out
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
Yeah, I think those vents have the same function as weird louvers on the Silverado, but not as crude and ugly.. Silverados unfortunately look like the front fender doesn't fit properly.. -
and given Hennessey's reputation for shady business I'd be surprised if their modded stuff would last 10k miles...

The 50s saw quite a few changes in industry-wide styling trends from the beginning of the decade to the end of the decade.. maybe moreso than many other decades.

Yes.. XT6. I think I still prefer the strong front vertical lighting elements of the current Escalade. The horizontal lights look rather small... -

Nice..glad they didn't put horizontal elements in the taillights. The front looks like it has a lot of XT6 detail scaled up... -
Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM

And note the logo clearly implies trucks. Unless they are going to sedans w/ vertical rear windows and long decklids ::) -
Looks like I have a random unplanned road trip I have to take this weekend. Wasn't planning on going anywhere this weekend..

Lincoln Introduces the Corsair Grand Touring: Comments
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in LA Auto Show
I'm sure one could, but it would be a lot of work. I like vehicles that come with warranties, predictably start, have working A/C and don't require hours and hours of wrenching. Get in, drive, enjoy..I need another fun car..(I don't really want a Tesla, though, lots of ICE vehicles that are quite appealing to me). -

Those aren't for real world use, though, right? ...stuff built for drag racing has no bearing on real world performance cars. I don't think people are necessarily building drag racers out of a Model S..definitely too heavy for that use case..I'm talking about real world performance...a Model S in ludicrous mode is 2.4 sec 0 to 60, .that's very quick for a real car with a warranty, working A/C, cup holders and all the essentials... -

I'm sure someone will ICE an EV at some point, but it doesn't really make sense... seems pointless. With a Tesla, for instance, no performance advantage would likely occur from a lot of work to ICE it, since it's so fast the way it is in ludicrous mode. -

You are thinking about cars with normal unibody structures, though...the Tesla doesn't have that..it has the giant battery pack and some simple aluminum and cardboard tubes attached to it with glue and spot welds, it sounds like.. I could someone doing some redneck engineering and mounting a Model S body on top of a truck chassis, though... -

From what I've seen, the frunk area ahead of the firewall is very tiny in the Model S...no room for a radiator, engine, etc. maybe a transverse 4 would fit. More Cruze or Sonic sized up front. -

I think that was a joke, not sure if it was ever finished. I recall seeing a video where someone was scoping out fitting an LS into a Model S and there wasn't nearly enough room for it... -

Just like there will be 'EV junkyards'...no one is going to keep an EV for 10 years or 150k miles...they will be obsolete and expensive to repair, just lease for a few years then junk/recycle... -
Rivian seems like it has the most potential to succeed, esp. with it's Amazon and Ford deals and having a plant...moreso than many of these other electric truck startups, a lot of them seem to be smoke and mirrors, more hype than substance..and anything with Chinese funding I'm skeptical of..

Saw a black late model Range Rover Sport with huge custom wheels, a custom body kit and custom grille, no RR badging, only 'ASPIRE' across the hood. Googled it, apparently Aspire is a UK brand of Range Rover aftermarket customization. Sitting in a Walgreens parking lot, I guess even the local Ukranian gangster soccer moms go to the drugstore...

Working out of the house with a 4x4 in the garage I usually don't even bother to shovel the driveway....but if it's not too bad out I'll shovel a path up the driveway to the front door so the USPS and Amazon can deliver...

Neat how the oil, fuel and temp gauges are set in the lower half also. Reminds me of how the first generation of the modern Mini had the gauges in the big central dial.

Tokyo Auto Salon sounds like a SEMA type event...that Suzuki off road van is pretty cool.

Looks like the new Trailblazer excels at driving through parking lots.

Was sitting behind a current Hyundai Santa Fe this morning in a turn lane and realized they have the rear turn signals down low in the rear fascia..not in the main taillight cluster. They are so low I couldn't see them over the hood of my Jeep, only saw the repeater on the driver's door mirror making blinky-blinky.

Yeah, I don’t care about outside noise, it’s quiet inside I like. Tire and wind noise is unavoidable, but can be minimized.
