Buick News: 2019 Buick Regal Avenir Is Putting On the Ritz

Would be nice to see the wagon offered in this trim, without the TourX fender arch trim. -
GM News: Tripower Making A Comeback At GM
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Considering it's been over 50 years since the name was last used, Pontiac has been gone about a decade, and carbs have been gone for a couple decades, makes sense to repurpose the trademark..- 31 replies

Oddly, I see more Aleros around the Cleveland area than the other N cars of that era. I rarely ever see Grand Ams or Skylarks...

I saw somewhere yesterday was National Mutt Day....have two of them--a Chi-Terrier mix (Beardsley--gray boy) and a Terrier mix (Raine--red girl), in addition to the purebred Yorkies.. love 'em, had them almost 4 years... Adopted as a pair from a rescue in AZ.

The styling makes me think of a mix of the old Mitsu Lancer, first gen Chrysler 200, and some random Toyota and Hyundai parts. And it has that deplorable, lazy stylist touch that I loathe—the pointless little bit of C-pillar trim that goes behind the door upper with the little black wedge of despair surrounded by chrome.

Take off the Subaru badging and you would hard pressed to tell what it is. Looks so generic and old. Like something from 2005 rental car hell.

Toyota News: Toyota Double Downs Investment On Hydrogen
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
Yes...given how huge Toyota is, I'm surprised they haven't gotten into the commercial van space in the US like Nissan has done w/ the NVs... A US market version of the Hiace would be cool. And imagine how badazz one of these would look w/ the Lexus predator grille, sharp angles, squinty lights, and 22 inch wheels..(though the JDM Alphard van looks pretty Lexus-ish these days..) -
I like the retro two toning and white wheels... not sure how it would work on the new generation with it's really weird styling, though..

I've always wanted one of those Eagles, with the straight 6. The Sunchaser convertible is way cool, IMO.- 11 replies

Land Rover News: Land Rover Trademarks Road Rover Name
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Land Rover
And some Subarus have frameless door glass, so totally a coupe Who knows, if SSCs (SUVsedancoupes) are the Next Big Thing, maybe Jeep will do something...like a modern descendant of the Eagle sedan. How about a AWD Chrysler 300C based model w/ more ground clearance and the 7 slot grille...too bad they don't still make the Dodge Magnum...an updated version w/ fender flares and more ground clearance, could be Dodge or Jeep's answer to the Buick Regal TourX, etc..- 11 replies

Interesting...only short bed and standard bed w/ the 1500 double cab and crew cab variants...no long bed. Saving that for the regular cab and heavy duty, I assume.

So is there going to be a 2nd gen CLA or does this more or less replace it for the NA market?

I assume all the 2019 specs will be available in the 4th quarter since they say 'available late 2018'... I haven't read anything about it, but I assume they will give the current style the 'Classic' treatment and continue it for 2019 for some configurations as they have done in the past?

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Drops A New Turbo-Four Into 2019 Silverado
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
It's funny, on the 19 Silverado preview site, they don't mention that the 2.7 is a 4 cylinder. They list 2 V8s and the 2.7 Turbo. There isn't much of a power or torque gap between the 2.7 and 5.3, so I wouldn't see them doing the V6 except maybe as a value leader for the base fleet trims (since the current 4.3 has lower power and torque than the 2.7). https://www.chevrolet.com/upcoming-vehicles/all-new-2019-silverado -
Regular cab with short bed is probably one of the lowest volume (and lowest profit) configurations?

I have little interest in hearing engine noise when driving, the quieter the better. How about automakers do something about quieting HVAC fan noise? I like a quiet interior so I can crank up the audio and hear the music...

Industry News: "Auto Shows Are Dead" Says Volkswagen's Chairman
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Went to the Cleveland show this year for the first time in 25 years, it was pretty good. Was packed w/ people the rainy Saturday I was there, they had the Jeep indoor obstacle course, most all the cars were unlocked and some had to get in line to sit inside. For a regional non-car premiering show, I thought it was pretty good..better than Phoenix, IMO. And as far as new cars premiering at shows, that's usually of only interest to the journos I would think..- 5 replies

Supposedly, First Energy rate here in the Cleveland burbs is about 5.25c/KWh. Summer, when the electric bill is higher from running the A/C a lot hasn't been that bad so far.... my highest was for July, $235...in comparison, in Phoenix running the A/C 24/7 in July for a house 1/2 the size was usually $450-600/month from June-Sept.

Seems like government policies from the current corrupt, unstable government led by the orange cretin would be more likely the cause of a new-future economic collapse.
