Audi has long been about AWD, while BMW and MB have long RWD histories. Audi doesn't have a RWD heritage. And Audi's key strengths are their interiors and subtle, crisp exterior styling.

Buick News: Buick To Drop Name Badge Beginning in 2019
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
I've noticed it's been happening with car grille badges also..the newer Hyundais have huge H badges in the grille, for example.. -
Anyway, back to the original topic..I like the idea of a CT6 w/ a twin turbo V8. Looking forward to seeing it in person. Not sure about the taillights..

I have a buddy in Denver that had a G37 coupe in a silver blue, was a sharp car..of all things, the manual transmission failed and had to be replaced under warranty.. The Q60 I saw looked like this.. Edit: this color is Iridium Blue. They also have a light silver blue called Hagane Blue.

One way I do think that a Cadillac midsize RWD/AWD SUV instead or in addition to the current XT5 CUV could work is if its platform were shared w/ GMC. A Grand Cherokee competitor would fit nicely at GMC..picture a GMC Trailhawk competitor and 'Denali' (Summit competitor).

True, I used to have a coworker that had a BMW 5 series, that when I was talking to him about his E39 his eyes glazed over...'what's an E39?'. Wasn't a serious BMW fan...

Yeah, I remember all the idiots over a decade ago that thought the GTO was a Cavalier.

Interesting...I would think of the XT5 as a midsize luxury CUV, while the GLC is a compact.

A Genesis coupe would be interesting. I saw a Q60 up close and personal in a parking lot the other day, they really are sharp in person. It was a medium/dark blue...lots of interesting contours.

The depth of stupid of the masses can't be underestimated. I know a guy that thought his Avalon had a V4.

Maybe a RWD/AWD XT5 would be taken more seriously by the press and favorably compared to BMW and MB, rather than just being a lowly FWD/AWD generic lease appliance like the Lexus LX, Lincoln MKX, etc...

Actually, Cadillac doesn't have any rebadged Chevys, but does have platform sharing. The XTS shares a platform w/ the Impala, but isn't a rebadge. Though Escalade shares the large SUV platform, it has significant differentiation from the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon. The XT5 has similar dirty bits to many Chevy, GMC, Buick FWD/AWD crossovers. The problem for the XT5 is a FWD/AWD transverse engine platform is generic and common; it's not the material of a proper luxury SUV, IMO...esp. compared to the serious RWD/AWD platforms used by BMW, M-B, etc. It's ok for near-lux/entry-lux crossovers (NOT SUVs) from Acura, Buick, Lincoln, etc...but Cadillac should aspire to be more. Though maybe I'm looking at this too much as an enthusiast rather than a generic lux-car leasing normcore resource unit.

Yeah, his obsession w/ full size SUVs and slagging on cars about rear seat room gets so one-note and tiresome...

Neat... I like how the Charger had bucket rear seats. IIRC, I've read the early Barracuda fastbacks also had a fold down rear seat w/ trunk access.
-
They were going for a consistent rear end with their other 4 seat 2drs--E-class, S-class, AMG GT all have similar rounded tails with horizontal lights, for better or for worse...

We know, you can only appreciate vehicles that can seat NBA players or NFL linebackers. You can't seem to comprehend that not everyone wants or needs a 6000lb SUV.

And BMW and M-Bs SUVs are RWD/AWD SUVs, not generic FWD/AWD transverse engine CUV appliances...(not talking about the entry level shit like the X1 and GLA, but the good stuff). GM doesn't even have a RWD/AWD SUV unibody platform; so Cadillac gets stuck with the FWD/AWD transverse engine CUV appliances..

Considering M-B is generally perceived as the world standard of the luxury market, comparisons will be inevitable..

A RWD 2dr convertible has 'no passion'?? BS. Cadillac needs something like this...something fun instead of more boring, bland transverse engine FWD CUV lease appliances....

The 6 window greenhouse with the quarter window in the C-pillar is the easiest way at a glance to distinguish a CT6 from a CTS in profile. V-series models usually have blacked out grilles. Makes sense for the V-Sport trim. I'm sure the regular CT6 will have a bright grille. The 6 window greenhouse with the quarter window in the C-pillar is the easiest way at a glance to distinguish a CT6 from a CTS in profile. Cadillac has done 6 window greenhouses before; in the 50s and early 60s, so it's not unprecedented. It's simplistic and conformist to say the quarter window 'belongs' on the rear door.

That's GM. I assume future Cadillac crossovers will use the generic platforms Chevy, GMC and Buick use for their crossovers...Cadillac should have a dedicated RWD-based platform for its CUVs, and leave the commodity FWD crud to Chevy, GMC, and Buick.

I got through my first Ohio winter in 24 years without more than a cold, no ear infections or sinus infections like I used to get. But my joints have felt the wear and tear of living in a multi-story house for the first time in almost 30 years...

Yes, but it's still built on a transverse engine FWD-origin platform, nothing special...

Yes, but Cadillac's reality is different than M-Bs; Cadillac has to use GM platforms, which means FWD crossovers...
