Wow...NJ is notoriously high for taxes, isn't it? Probably higher valuation also. To put it in perspective, the 1200 sq ft house in Phoenix was valued at $320k, my Ohio house at $165k.
-
Higher in Cuyahoga County...I have a 2700 sq ft house on a quarter acre lot and its a little over $4200/yr..

Don't think I've ever seen a steel house before, though have heard of them. 1240 sq ft might be fine for two people--my Denver condo was 2 bedroom and 1000 sq ft. My sister's 1952 house in AZ was 1200 sq ft, 3 bedroom and was cramped for 2 people w/ dogs and too much stuff (we still had to have 2 storage units), with no garage (2 carports, 3-4 cars). My 1967 house here in the Cleveland 'burbs is a 2700 sq ft split level, 4 bedrooms, finished basement. Size and storage space is good but I'd like more garage space (the 2 car garage is a bit on the small side). Property tax on the Phoenix house was about $4500/yr, about the same has my house here. Property prices in the Cleveland area are lower than Phoenix but taxes seem higher. My family farm in Ohio (150 acres, 1857 house, guest house, barn etc) has taxes about the same...my older brother is always bitching about the taxes (but he only has to pay 1/3 of them--he & my sister and I own the property).

Ok, checked Auto Trader for local/semi-local used cars at $36k or less.... I kept the list realistic and late model, didn't really want older cars to have to deal with (that could be a separate list). I wanted cars recent w/ low miles that I could drive a lot...a Jeep for the practicality and winter use, the Challenger and Chevy SS for fun (picked the SS over a Charger for it's uncommon uniqueness), a CTS for a modern comfy luxury sedan (it and the Jeep would alternate as daily drivers). The last choice was hard--I wanted a sports car, something small and nimble and a convertible. I thought about a Miata (I do like them--they are on my other DCG-MSRP lists), but I've long liked the Boxster, esp. in S form. a modern Porsche in it's simplest and purest form. Great handling for those weekend trips south toward the Ohio River.. Except for the Jeep, these aren't necessarily the colors I would want, but what I could find w/ a quick search on Auto Trader. 1 '15 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit 34k miles $34,000 2. '15 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack manual 15k miles $33598 3. '15 Chevy SS manual 34k miles, $30500 4. '16 Cadillac CTS 18k miles, blue $34800 5. '10 Porsche Boxster S manual 31k miles, $34000 '

Cadillac News: Spying: 2019 Cadillac XT4 Discovers Physical Buttons!
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Good point. Since the article doesn't have the spy photos of the XT4 dash, I wonder is the XT4 dash has different styling cues than current models ( I assume that is the XT5 or another current model in the pic). -
Cadillac News: Spying: 2019 Cadillac XT4 Discovers Physical Buttons!

Can't let the XT5 have a lesser version of CuE than the XT4...I'd assume they will roll out the new version of the infotainment system with MCEs or NG refreshes across the line quickly. -
Looks like this Ferrari has more than enough torque--look at the numbers.. 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds 0-124 mph in 7.6 seconds

US CUV/SUV sales still seem pretty strong..I see a lot of Jeeps, lots of GM models from Equinoxes to Tahoes/Burbans/etc around...plenty of Fords also. Was the same way in AZ--saw a lot of domestic CUVs/SUVs amidst a lot of import brands..

Strange days we live in.. a rise in mass ignorance and stupidity in an era of great technological and scientific advancement...

Don't know how a post about a new Ferrari veered off into vintage Pontiacs....anyway, this is the latest iteration in Ferrari mid engined models like the previous Challenge and Stradale models, of which there are race versions in one-make series (though variations of such models also compete in IMSA and WEC racing)... The tired old DOHC vs pushrod debate inexplicably popped up again, how is that remotely relevant? GM is the only automaker left that has V8 engines in international competition that I know of...(Ford's GT is DOHC). What works in NASCAR or drag racing has zero relevance to road racing, which this car is for..

Hyundai News:2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Becomes Boxier, Adds Diesel
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Hyundai
The front strongly reminds me of the DS7, rear is kind of BMW-ish around the taillights... sharp, definitely looks more premium than current Hyundai CUVs. -

Back in 2000, I remember a buddy of mine accidentally let the plates expire on his Suburban...he took the back plate off his Porsche 930 and put it on....leaving the airport parking garage at Denver, the guy in the booth commented that his front and back plates didn't match...my buddy, was like 'Really? I didn't notice..'.... I think he eventually re-registered the Suburban, but he drove around like that for at least 6 months. I was with him when this happened, we had flown back from a tech conference in San Francisco..

I love the boattail Rivs, esp. the '71-72 with the oh-so-cool offset rear license plate..

IIRC, the CC is on the Euro Passat platform (not the current US one) and the Phaeton was on the Bentley Continental platform (maybe also shared w/ the Audi A8 from 10 years ago?) A former boss of mine had a black on black CC, nice car...used to ride to lunch it..was tight w/ 4 people inside, though.

I didn't see the grille, only the side and taillights, so not sure of the year...

Probably all a financial decision... couldn't make a profit with the investment that a new platform would require to build a midsize pickup that is price-competitive in various markets...so they leveraged an existing platform from their partner..and if it tanks in the market, not a big investment loss.

Got home and took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather (14 degrees warmer here than Phoenix today!)--walked a couple of the furs up and down my street...while walking I hear something rumbly--like an older car coming down the street--and turn to see a '79-85 Toronado roll by...silver, dark red top..clean shape as far as I could tell in the gloaming.

Kia News: Next-Generation Kia K900 Begins To Tease Us

They still have the Credenza also...not sure why they need either, since Genesis is the luxury brand... -
Been in an early 80s mood lately...had Roxy Music's 'Flesh and Blood' and 'Avalon' albums playing alot at home and in the Jeep. And also some listening to some Phil Collins--my favorite track of his--1980's 'In the Air Tonight'.

In 30+ years of driving, I've had 2 hatchbacks (1 3dr, 1 5dr), 4 cars w/ trunks (3 2drs, 1 4dr), and 3 SUVs (1 2dr, 2 4drs). Other than the '69 Mustang I inherited, the oldest was an '84 and the newest a '14. My Dad usually always had a full size 4dr when I was growing up...I was too little to really remember much of the '69 and '73 Mercury Marquis 4dr hts, but I do remember the '76 and '79 Continental 4dr pillared hts and the '80s-90s Town Car sedans. And the odd pickup here and there (like the '79 Power Wagon I learned to drive in), or the Vega, Chevette, and Escort in succession--'dinghies' to tow on the back of the ever-increasing in size RVs. My Mom usually had a Cougar, Thunderbird or Mustang...they would get new cars every 3-4 years, but also had some oldies they kept like the '69 Mustang and '67-68 Cougars. I don't have much experience actually driving '60s-70s cars--I just find I can't get comfortable; I guess I'm too used to modern cars with all the amenities, adjustability and modern brakes. Though I would like to have a '70s car as a summer toy if I had the garage space---a '69-70 Ford XL coupe or convertible or '71-72 LTD coupe or convertible...love the styling of them. Anyway, on the subject of car shopping, since I got my CPO Jeep last year, I'm out of the market for a while, unless I get the itch for something fun for my 50th birthday in a few years...a Miata or Challenger V8 would be a lot of fun, IMO..
