  1. Anyone have any sales figures for the current-gen Mondeo (Fusion) in Europe? Wonder how it is doing there.. I know it didn't come out until a year or two after the NA version...
  2. I've dabbled in building and collecting model kits (and die cast) since childhood. I've got the latest releases, as well as kits that are 60 yrs old in my collection. I have a spare bedroom full of them in my house and more in my storage unit.
  3. Nice to see Cadillac making a DOHC V8 sedan again.. interesting change in the taillights and deck lid trim. I like the brown seats, but hold the carbon fiber trim. I wonder if we will see this engine in the CTS-V or whatever the next midsize performance sedan is called? (CT5-V?). Since it's being built at Bowling Green, one can speculate a variation of this engine will power the next Corvette..
  4. Pretty light 2nd MCE...new front fascia, grille and lighting.. yawn.
  5. Different niche, though.... the Mercs and BMWs are serious RWD/AWD SUVs as opposed to appliance FWD/AWD CUVs like the XT5, RX, and Nautilus.
  6. The XT5 being a commodity lease appliance doesn't need a V8; competitors like the Lexus RX and Nautilus don't have V8s..
  7. The key to owning something like the Continental is a lease...I wouldn't buy one. Drive it 3 years then move on. Or maybe a CPO w/ extended warranty. I wouldn't want to have any modern electronics-heavy vehicle out of warranty and aging. I've learned from experience never keep anything from the 21st century past 100k miles, that's when the electronics tend to go to shit...
  8. I like the Continental, it's one of those cars I like a lot more after seeing in person than looking at just in pictures. I've sat in them, seems like it would be a nice comfy cruiser.
  9. I have a few Skylines of various generations in my 1/24th kit stash.
  10. Of the vintage Skyline GT-Rs, I like the KPGC110 mid 70s generation and the R32.
  11. The current generation Skyline is sold in the US now, it's just badged as an Infiniti...(Q50/Q60).
  12. Which no doubt led to a lot of confusion over the years. Odd that they went with a nonstandard labeling scheme.
  13. I just don't get why Kia is making models that are redundant with Hyundai and Genesis models..it's like as a company overall, Hyundai-Kia doesn't seem to clearly delineate their 3 brands. The Kia Stinger is one that stands out, but so many of the models across the brands seem redundant.
  14. It's like Kia doesn't know what their place is..why are they trying to compete w/ their sibling Genesis? Very confusing...
  15. I went to a couple of concerts during the middle of the week a couple weeks ago--2 guys I've liked since the 80s--Steve Winwood and Howard Jones. Winwood played a lot of his '60s Traffic and 80s songs in a jazzy style--his backing band was solid. Howard Jones was solo with an electric piano, not all his synthesizers. His current tour was 'stories and songs'--him talking about the stories behind his songs, was fun in a small venue in the Cleveland Flats. I've had both of their 80s work stuck in my head the last couple weeks, been listening to them both a lot at home and in the Jeep..
  16. That illustration (European source?) has a lot of Jeep styling cues to the sides--the wheelarches, greenhouse, etc. will be interesting to see how it turns out. It will be interesting also to see what the next 4Runner looks like..the current one is so ugly IMO.
  17. In a world of generic sedans and CUVs, a stylish 2dr with a V8 is a good thing, IMO...
  18. Was behind one on the road the other night..they have a great taillight pattern...
  19. The LC looks great in brown...(everything looks better in brown, IMO).
  20. I've rented trucks and vans from uHaul a few times over the years when I needed to move content from the house to storage and vice versa. Cheap and effective. As far as services like ZipCar, I could see using something like that if I lived downtown in a large city and didn't drive very often, had access to public transportation, etc. I would probably use Uber a lot in such a context. Out here in the burbs I don't need such services. When I lived in Phoenix, I did frequently rent vehicles from my neighborhood Enterprise for weekend getaways to San Diego, LA, the mountains, etc. since my previous Jeep was old and I didn't trust it on road trips.
  21. Invalid analogy. The CTS-v is a trim level of the CTS, while the LS and LC are two different models. The LS is considerably larger than the LC...the LS is V6 only, the LC is available w/ a V6 and V8.
  22. That's an LS500. The full size 4dr.
  23. It's a really stupid idea, IMO. Since I work from home, I don't use my Jeep every day, but I wouldn't want some unknown rando driving it. It's as stupid an idea as airbnb; I wouldn't rent my house out either. What's mine is mine; it's not community property. If I want to rent a car, I go to Hertz or Enterprise...
  24. I like the idea of a 2dr Range Rover, since the original was a 2dr. But I think they should have made it available across all the same trims as the 4dr and at the same price points rather than an exclusive halo vehicle.
  25. The CTS-v and ATS-v always seem to have dour black or gray interiors... haven't seen any with this much color.
