  1. As far as Challengers go, the one I'd buy is a Challenger R/T w/ the Shaker package....the dealer had one in the showroom when I bought my GC a couple weeks ago, white w/ black scoop, red and black interior, manual. Perfect...maybe I'll get one for my midlife crisis in 3 years when I hit an age milestone...
  2. I like the Demon's looks. Over the top muscle car. The fender flares look great, a neat retro touch ala the Aspen/Volare Super Coupe package. Comparisons to the Tesla Model S are pointless; different types of cars for different buyers and different use cases.
  3. For wheels, I usually like an aluminum or titanium finish. One place I do like black wheels are on some performance cars like Challengers, Mustangs, some Porsches. But that's a performance look, not a luxury look.
  4. I have a coworker w an 07 Navigator w a cream interior and 3 kids under 10..it is trashed inside--cracked and ripped leather, mystery stains on the carpet and headliner, weird odors, etc. We try and avoid letting him drive when we go out to lunch.
  5. I like chrome trim, esp in restrained usage. Not a fan of body color/monochrome trim---that was an 80s-90s thing--looks very dated today, IMO. Blackout trim looks cheap to me, but the worst is the matte finish all over look, IMO. The Buick looks great as it is w some chrome--tasteful and elegant.
  6. That's similar to my Grand Cherokee interior. I have dogs, plan to get seat covers and Weathertech mats. I specifically sought out the light two tone interior as I was tired of the dark gray or black despair cave interiors.
  7. I like the interior. Though it seems more appropriate for a luxury marque than utilitarian Subaru. I don't see white leather in production; wouldn't be practical for a Subaru family trawler use case where the seats will be covered in food, diaper content, dog poo, etc.
  8. Commutes can suck. Here in Az most of my jobs have had commutes in the 6-20 miles each way range, worst was 27 miles each way for 2 years, mostly freeway. Worst commute I ever had was 68 miles each way back in '02 in Colorado, did that for 3 months until I moved a couple miles from the office then a month later changed jobs. Looking forward to when my Ohio move is done in a few weeks, then I will be working from home most of the time.
  9. In my work cube in Scottsdale. My temporary work from home desk in Ohio. Will build out my home office after I finish the move.
  10. Been there, done that. Drove my WJ JGC almost daily for almost 17 years, long after it was obsolete. If I were to do something like that again, I'd maybe pick a Panther. A late Grand Marquis or Town Car. Driven many as rentals, they were pretty low tech and obsolete 20 years ago, plenty of parts out there.
  11. They should have gone retro and mounted fog lights on top of the bumper like the first gen ZJ GC did.....
  12. Over the top, but I love it. I'm happy w/ my V6 Limited for real life use, though.
  13. Maybe the Eagle Vision? That was an Intrepid sister, but that was post AMC...(the Eagle brand replaced what had been the AMC brand after the Chrysler acquisition).
  14. Yes, I thought I read the '18 Insignia/Regal was on the longer wheelbase..but it has the same 111.x wheelbase as the Malibu. I assume the next Impala will be on the longer wheelbase, as it is currently only 111.x also (as is the XTS IIRC).
  15. The new Regal and Malibu have the same wheelbase, more or less the same overall length (the Malibu is about 1/2 longer).
  16. My coworker in the cubicle next to me bought a '17 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk in gray...very sharp. We were out in the parking garage with a bunch of our coworkers checking it out and my Limited which were parked side by side...noting the various commonalities and differences. One error on the Trailhawk (in that medium gray) is that the left side window trim is all black while the right side trim is all black except for the back quarter window, which has bright window trim like my Limited. A factory 'oops' I presume. Sharp rig, though..
  17. Is GM capable of 'creating a trend', though? They always seem to be following the leaders in each segment...
  18. Yes, but only .001 percent of new car buyers probably would want a regular wagon, so GM isn't worried.
  19. Yes, but without the cladding it doesn't say 'X'...i.e. a regular wagon which their studies say Americans won't buy---the cladding gives it the X factor (cross over) which studies show should attract Americans.
  20. Yeah, I think they think it needs the crossover wagon look to sell. Going for the Volvo Cross Country, Outback, Alltrack, Allroad, etc style... looks sharp over all..like the profile, front and the interior. Going the opposite direction---the classic American wagon look w/ fake woodgrain on the sides and white wall tires----probably wouldn't have worked except for a few nostalgia sales...
  21. Saw an interesting mix of old cars around Central Phoenix today... a very clean bright green base '70 Challenger, w/ gray vinyl top and luggage rack; a modified, raked black '56 Ford pickup; a silver '68 Cutlass convertible, rolling top down; a very clean '80 Turbo Trans Am--black w/ gold trim, tan interior, t-tops off; and a medium green '74 Caprice 4dr sedan w/ white vinyl top.
  22. Road trips are always a good way to get to know a car. Esp. random, spur-of-the-moment trips. Took a 250 mile jaunt around scenic parts of Arizona (from Phoenix up to Prescott then back through the mountains via Wickenberg). The Jeep performed flawlessly; drove like a new car. In the mountains over 6000 feet down to high desert then back to the Valley... Seemed familiar yet totally different compared to my old one. Had a great day...sunny and cool up north.
