  1. After 3 weeks driving a Passat, this vehicle is now on my radar...may have to go take one for a test drive..seems like it would make a nice NE Ohio year round car...
  2. True. I've long liked SUVs, am warming to CUVs. Practicality is winning. So many cars are just too impractical with their tiny trunks and lack of space.
  3. Stromboli
  4. I can see the Bolt leading to a EV sedan for Chevy, and maybe an XT1-E CUV for Cadillac ?
  5. The current gen Accent sedan also has that silly black C-pillar trim also....looks like a cheap afterthought...why not just put a small window there?
  6. Don't think I've ever seen a Corsica described as 'gorgeous'..thought of them, but decided that was too long ago..vehicles GM did 20-45 years ago aren't relevant to the thread.
  7. I wasn't thinking of old cars..thinking modern era. GM hasn't had any US market midsize hatchbacks that I can think of in recent decades except the goofy looking Malibu Maxx..
  8. I could see considering an Alfa for a lease for a few years instead of the more predictable BMW 3-series if I were in the compact premium niche..something different and distinctive...wouldn't want one after out of warranty, of course.
  9. Keep in mind, though, Mercedes and VW are international companies (with many brands in VW's case)..Cadillac has very limited sales outside NA, so they don't need as big of a budget...
  10. Buick and GMC give Cadillac dealers volume to try and compete w/ Chevy dealers across the street...
  11. The current Euro Passat wagon is a really good looking car...saw a brown one in Scottsdale last year.
  12. Finally feeling back to normal at work (after 3 weeks in Ohio), the time difference and poor sleep have been plaguing me. And it's easy to get distracted checking my Ohio home alarm, the motion sensors, cameras inside and out, etc from my phone.
  13. Yah, Mazda 2.0. 52hp. Long time ago...
  14. My diesel Escort easily got over 55mpg highway, but it was probably 1000 lbs lighter than today's compact diesels ( and pretty basic and stripped down).
  15. They already tried Chevrolet in Europe, it failed. Opel/Vauxhall have been the European GM brands for so long that I couldn't see them changing names..
  16. I couldn't imagine a compact diesel with an automatic...but they have to do that for the stupid Americans that can't drive a stick.
  17. Was behind a Bolt EV autonomous out testing today. I've seen a lot of autonomous vehicles testing in Scottsdale.
  18. I like the fastback style hatches like the A7 and Mondeo. The more vertical hatch works better for a wagon or CUV.
  19. Several. Not US GM, but midsize hatches are common in Europe..such as the current Mondeo, Insignia, etc..Audi A7 and Panamera are two big ones in the US, for example.
  20. Turned it in Saturday....back in Phoenix for a few weeks to pack up and move. First time I'd had a rental for 3 weeks since 1999 when I had a Chrysler 300M for 3 weeks. It was a good drive overall, had a mix of suburban, potholed city driving, freeway driving, a bit of winding country roads, and winter weather (snow, sleet, rain, gropple, freezing rain) to deal with. The tire pressure warning light seemed a bit flaky, I checked the tires a couple times, but once it came on, it wouldn't go off. All in all, a decent midsize sedan, lots of interior storing cubbies, big trunk, practical and pleasant. The thing that stuck in my head (don't know why) is that I was driving in Ohio in a Tennessee-built German car with a Florida plate, with my AZ driver's license and CO cell number....
  21. I'd like to see a Malibu hatch...it already has a fastback roofline, a hatch could make it more practical w/ the same styling..
  22. looks like the offspring of a Juke and a Veloster.
  23. It's a distinctive design...the front is definitely evocative of past Alfas, and it's not the usual boring, predictable trapezoidial giant grille too many cars have today...and I like the offset front license plate instead of the usual, boring predicable centered plate. The side profile is less distinct, showing strong BMW 3-series design cues though...how Alfa will be received in the US market is a good question, it's basically an unknown new brand to anyone under 40 or so.
  24. I think the black bowties are weak, but that's just my opinion..
  25. Meh...the blue oval has been the blue oval for so long, wouldn't make sense in body color...brand logos have very specific colors and fonts, using arbitrary colors would violate every rule of design and branding. Chevy bowties need to be chrome w/ gold or blue...
