Cool...I guess I'm going to be buying a mower and a snowblower myself here soon...will be my first time for buying either (never needed them before--I have a yard service in Phoenix and in Colorado I had an apartment then a condo).
-
Well, my 'toys' are about 90 miles away at the family farm ('69 Mustang and '87 Mustang GT)--my siblings and I inherited the house and land and each have 1/3 ownership (50 acres each). Nice dry barn w/ 10 cars there now.. (went through the probate adventure over the summer). I'll be sharing my garage w/ my sister's Chevy Trax (she's going to split her time between Phoenix, Cleveland and the UK for the near future)..

Nope, a 1960s suburban split level w/ 2700 sq ft, 2 car garage and a big backyard. Over twice the size and 1/2 the price of my Phoenix house.

Looking forward to some time off next week and the week after...the last month has been very, very busy with work and buying a house...will be closing on my house in the land of Lake Effect snow in January, pretty happy about how everything is working out..will be moving in late Jan/early Feb and working from home for my Scottsdale client.

I've enjoyed the 3 reboot movies. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the new series coming next year. I grew up watching TOS in the late 70s-80s reruns, still a fan of it, regardless of the cheesy special effects. Liked the 80s-90s movies, liked The Next Generation and Enterprise, didn't really care for DS9 and Voyager. Been a casual Trek fan for close to 40 years...

Been busy busy busy the last few months....was on a house hunting trip in the Cleveland area last week, put an offer on a house, waiting, as the realtor has had trouble getting a hold of the owner....if this falls through, will make another trip back after Thanksgiving to look at more houses...

Saw a Chevy Bolt for the first time today, a white one at an intersection..it had gear on the roof that looked like autonomous vehicle testing gear (spinny things like I saw on the Uber Fusion autonomous car I saw a couple months ago).

Weird little bit of randomness tonight...was ordering some product online, and the retailer's form had all the usual fields, name, address line 1, state, zip but one threw me: the usual 'city' field was labeled 'Suburb/City'. 20 years of web development and I've never seen that...

Would You Rather: Real or Imitation Edition
Robert Hall replied to Frisky Dingo's topic in The Lounge
Seems like a lot of work to create a fake...why not design a uniquely styled body for you homebrew car and not rip off Lamborghini... If I could afford a Lamborghini, I'd take a Miura or Miura SV...love the styling...the modern ones leave me cold..they just seem so cartoonish looking. -
Interesting that the two engine suppliers are also the only pace car suppliers..must be a correlation.. I've been to a number of Indy Car series races over the last 7-8 years, in Fontana, Long Beach, Sonoma, Phoenix and Indianapolis..usually get to 1-3 races a year.. it's my favorite overall racing series, moreso than F1 which has become so boring in the last decade or so..
-
Chevy has an exclusive long-term license with Indy Car for the 500, I would assume. Other Indy Car series races have used Honda Accords for their pace cars in recent years..

I've never had a reason for in-car nav.... I'm sure I will have a vehicle with one sooner or later, but it just seems like a pointless feature to me. I always have a smart phone with me and maps....even when I'm traveling and in a rental car, haven't needed to use one since I have my phone..

Buick News: Buick Announces Avenir is Coming... As A Sub-Brand
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Special and Super sound dated, i guess they wanted a new moniker... and the last few times Special was used, it was on base trim levels..not aspirational. -

Kind of like how they used 'Super' on the LaCrosse and Lucerne in the late oughts. -
Been battling a cold and the throat/sinus crud for the last week...first 'cold' snap (days in the 90s) and I got it...ugh...

I'm skeptical that FCA and Dodge will still exist by 2021. I can see Jeep and Ram continuing under new ownership, though.

Just seems like the AWD version would be pretty short lived, at least as far as the current generation...like a final year or two send off. Though given FCA's current situation, 2018 seems optimistic for anything new..

Those timelines don't sound right..an AWD Challenger for '17 then a redesign in '18?

Makes sense they would offer it as a baby brother to the Trax...ever size niche needs a CUV in today's market.

I'm originally from eastern Ohio....childhood home in Steubenville, Oh (about 35 miles from Pittsburgh). and the childhood family 'farm' about 50 miles west of there on a lake outside Port Washington, Oh near the Amish Country: (we always called it the farm, though we never really grew anything..was my Dad's hobby) I spent childhood going between the Steubenville house and the farm, and our beach house in Marathon, Florida in the Keys. After high school, I went to college in NE Ohio then grad school in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the U of M. Then over a decade in Colorado and 8 years in Phoenix. After my mother's passing 6 months ago, and all the messy estate stuff, my two siblings and I will be splitting ownership of the farm (50 acres each) and the various vintage cars stored there. My brother still lives there in the guest house and has his 10 cars and 5 motorcycles stored there. After nearly 20 years in the West, I'm looking forward to returning to the E. Ohio area...house hunting now, hope to buy something and move by the end of the year to the Cleveland or Pittsburgh area (both around 100 miles from the farm and with enough tech jobs to keep me employed).

Item: Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4
Robert Hall replied to Robert Hall's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
In my driving around Phoenix and Scottsdale I've put around 6k a year on the Jeep the last two years at my current gig, my least driving in a long time. I either take my sister's car or rent for out of town trips. Not sure if I'll try and keep it going or get something new when I move. Very soon though. -
Been there, done that... when I've been mega stressed and getting poor sleep I get sick, acne, and diarrhea.. when I've been in high stress I take a lot of Vitamin C. 6 weeks of 90 + work hours a week on a project death march back in summer 2011 was pretty rough..gained 10lbs (from catered breakfast/lunch/dinner at the client company). At least I had a good bill rate... but I really don't remember much of that summer. I took a week off after that and went to a resort and slept 10-12hrs a day. One guy on my team experienced kidney failure, and the project lead got shingles and eventually a couple of heart attacks....
-
That's not something to brag about...plenty of studies have shown negative side affects of a chronic lack of sleep. Color it brown and it would be reminiscent of an explosive diarrhea episode...
