Jeep News: Next-Generation Jeep Wrangler Not Going Full Aluminum
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Jeep
I could see the body incl. hood, fenders and doors being aluminum, as they aren't structural (the Wrangler is still BOF, right?) -
Honda Civic. Cheap, reliable, good gas mileage, manual available, popular w youths.

Hasn't the Avalon been reliable? I would think a Toyota would be as reliable as anything..I'd focus, keep the Avalon till it's got 200k or more and save money towards something else...I'd rather drive a boring reliable car and focus on the big picture and not waste time and money chasing every fleeting whim..

Chevrolet News:Meet the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Did they make the side windows even smaller? Are side view cameras included? the sides seem very thick and the chop top look even more pronounced than the 5th gen... -
BMW News: BMW Gives the 3-Series A Refresh for 2016
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
Maybe I'm getting old ( or blind), but I think it has a more classic look to it. BMW and M-B have generally done evolutionary design...not radical changes between generation of existing models. At least they aren't going for the violent robot styling themes that some car makers have embraced (like Lexus)- 21 replies

Not the British..they seem to buy any cheap junk that comes to their market...Proton, SsangYong, Lada in the past, etc.. and the German luxury makes outsell Jaguar and Land Rover in the UK, I believe..

Traffic was oddly light this afternoon...maybe everyone started their Cinco de Mayo partying early. But I did see a very clean '77-79 Lincoln Continental sedan in dark red w/ red vinyl top, a clean white 60s Merc SL w dark blue top (pagoda roof style), and a very clean silver early 4th gen Camaro Z28.

The reason I inquired is my sister is thinking about a Beetle as her next car..she likes the Fiat 500 and Mini also, but i figure the Beetle would be the most reliable.. she's had enough of old Mercedes and Cadillacs and their upkeep.

Not to distract from your flavor-of-the-moment truck, but what did you think overall your last flame, the Beetle? Would you recommend one or consider buying one again?

My folks had an '85 Chieftain, 33ft. Took many family vacations in it, and for the annual trips from Ohio to Florida in August and back to Ohio in June (spent the school year in the Florida Keys). I always enjoyed trips in it, took a few trips in it in the 90s also when I was in college. Looked like this one, a lot like the one in 'Spaceballs' (without the mods, of course)

I've had a personal iPhone 5S for about a year now since my Motorola Droid Razr bit the dust. The Droid had been flaky for a while--it was periodically locking up and the mute/speaker functionality worked intermittently. One night last spring, Verizon ads started autoplaying while I was sleeping, couldn't get the volume to go down, so I threw it against a wall--cracked the screen...I then smashed it into small pieces with a hammer (it was too big to fit in my shredder). No more Android junk for me. I've been happy w/ the 5S though the battery life could be better. Got a year to go on the contract, will probably get an iPhone 6 or whatever their latest model is then.

Saw a derelict but still running '89-ish Pontiac 6000STE, was a silver blue/darker blue two tone, had surface rust on the hood/roof/decklid, tatty bumpers, and likely non-functioning A/C (people don't drive on 100 degree days w/ the windows down here unless their A/C is shot). Haven't seen one of these in ages....

G-Class Quality, Lettuce Count the Ways
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Mercedes-Benz
It's kind of unintentionally retro. The Land Rover Defender is the same way..unabashedly old.. -
I think they are getting rid of the old D3 platform and building this an the '16 Taurus on a variation of the Fusion platform...
