Would you let your kid practice motor sports?
Robert Hall replied to JulianWilliams's topic in The Lounge
I just wish I had pursued it myself as a kid, as I lived right down the road from a regional karting track, used to go to races there all the time... -
Anyone want to share the first time went toa NASCAR race?
Robert Hall replied to 57caddy's topic in The Lounge
First I went to was the '88 Daytona 500 (was in high school in S. Florida then), then the '94, 95, and 96 Michigan 500 (was living in Ann Arbor then). Since '08 I've been going to the spring and fall races here in Phoenix, and occasionally the Fontana race. I've been a NASCAR fan off and on since childhood in the late 70s, but I also enjoy open wheel racing (Indy Car and F1). That first one was quite memorable for me...the deafening sound, smell of rubber and gas..the huge crowds, brightly colored cars, etc...was quite an experiences for the senses...been hooked on racing since then. -
Saw a very clean '64-66 vintage light blue Ford F100 long bed last night..

When I was in grad school in the mid 90s a colleague of mine was going on and on for a while about getting an Alfa Romeo Spyder Graduate when he graduated...I pointed out that Alfa had left the US a couple years before, he was very dissapointed and wondered why...

The 159 had a bit of Acura TL in the profile...always liked the front end, the triple lights and offset license plate did it for me..so different than the typical sports sedan front. The dash was very nice also..I've seen these in person in Italy, really good looking in person..I liked the Brera coupe also.

I do have to laugh when people complain about rear seat space in a compact sports sedan; these aren't family sedans. They are for singles and dinks. If you need to lug around a family, get a minivan or CUV.

Electric Highway West Coast Style!
Robert Hall replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
I've really only noticed charging stations in some parking lots and parking garages around the Phoenix metro area. Haven't noticed any street or freeway signs. I'll have to keep an eye out for charging station signs/etc when I'm in LA next week.- 9 replies

The current A4 is 7 years old, nearing the end of its current generation, so the sales are down...

I wouldn't mind having a coupe again...I'm so used to 4drs, though..they are so much easier to get in and out of (shorter doors) and easier to put stuff in the back seat..

At dinner tonight, I saw a white Ferrari 458 Italia, a dark red Ferrari 599, a dark gray & silver Rolls Royce Wraith and a dark blue Phantom coupe, all in the same lot...never dull in Scottsdale..

GM News: GM's Mark Reuss Talks About Cadillac and Chevrolet
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
Maybe more so than a sports car, Cadillac needs some additional bodystyles in its current ranges, esp. a convertible. The one thing they are missing that all the competition has is a compact convertible, i.e. an ATS convertible. Not huge for sales but good for image... and maybe eventually a large coupe, convertible ala the BMW 6 series and Merc S-class. And a 4dr coupe like the A7 and CLS..- 17 replies

GM News: GM's Mark Reuss Talks About Cadillac and Chevrolet
Robert Hall replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
What if Cadillac did a mid-engine something akin to the Cien concept? Would give it some space from Corvette. But then again, I'm just dreaming. Who knows..if you believe the mags, Chevy is doing a mid engined Corvette Zora in the not so distant future..- 17 replies

Ideally before the end of the year...working through the logistics, spending a lot of time on Trulia, Realtor.com, etc scoping out neighborhoods in the Pittsburgh area. I went to a few open houses when I was there a little over a week ago...coming back probably in May or June to do more investigating...

The tan and brown interior was very pleasant...I've had enough black and dark gray interiors in my life, really liking lighter interiors... A light interior and sunroof is on my must have for my next car, especially as I transition from living in a hot, dry sunny environment to a colder, gray rainy environment...

A Cadillac sportscar would have to emphasize luxury like the Merc SL and have Cadillac styling.- 17 replies

Speaking of coupes, I'm surprised they didn't make a Cruze coupe..would have been a small investment compared to the 130R...Honda still has a Civic coupe, after all...but not enough market anymore, I guess...- 17 replies

It's too bad they haven't built the Wrangler based pickup like the concept from a few years ago..that was cool and stylish.

I've never seen an XTS limo or hearse except in an Autoblog article and here. Never seen any IRL...must be low volume or regional.

I assume a 4cyl version of the CT6 would be there for the same reason there is a 4cyl XTS--for fleet and mileage ratings. The German Big 3 have 4 cyls in their midsize but not in their full size models yet AFAIK, except maybe diesels? I assume they also will have turbo 4s as the base in their full sizers..

Saw 4 current Rollers in traffic--black and silver blinged out Phantom on chrome 24 inch wheels, white Ghost, dark blue and silver Phantom Drophead Coupe, and a dark red and silver Wraith (the oh-so-sweet fastback coupe). Also a white Aston Martin DBS V12 coupe. Also saw a white ATS-v coupe--first I'd seen--I like the looks. Also a dark gray CTS-v wagon.
