  1. This information could also be used to send a compliance drone after you... If I were paranoid, I would assume all this data will be gathered and analyzed by DHS, NSA, etc for finding pre-crime scenarios and tracking potential threats. It's inevitable.
  2. What the Hell is it????? That is freakin ugly, a Honda Element on Steriods. The local Chevy store has a row of them in their commercial vehicle area...it's the MV-1 from VPG. http://www.vpgautos.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MV-1 it's the replacement for the badazz Standard Taxi..
  3. Close..the Yugo was based on the Fiat 127...the 126 was rear engined, the 127 front engine/fwd.
  4. Looks like a Fiat 126 that's been cut & shut..I guess the operator entered through the rear hatch..
  5. Normally, I would agree with you, but the models released in this class over the last 24 months have really seemed to shift in the same direction, that is bigger yet lighter and more and fuel efficient in both hybrid and non-hybrid models. ... this goes for everyone except GM, who's car have gained or maintained weight while being reduced in size. (Chrysler doesn't count since they haven't released in this class in the last 24 months) It's also got to be dissapointing for GM as midsize is the class/niche, or at least it used to be, though I think there is movement towards compact becoming the most critical segment for cars..
  6. Looks good...like the roofline..the rear fascia is overwrought, but I assume the details will be toned down for the production...like the interior and wheels.
  7. There a few in downtown Tempe... I've seen Volts plugged into them.
  8. Odd that it would have been restyled in '59, the restyle doesn't fit with regular Cadillac '59 styling at all... too bad they didn't build the original in volume, a 2 seat Cadillac roadster would have been quite a halo car...I can only imagine what a coupe version could have looked like...
  9. Ya, the Scion iQ...at least we don't get Aston Martin version here (yet). Coming home from work one afternoon back in the summer I found myself at a light with a Prius in front of me, an iQ beside me on one side, a Smart diagonally in front, a Mitsu i behind me, and a Leaf on the other side...like being the odd man out in a green car peloton..
  10. Interesting comparing the appearance to the '54 Eldorado...appears sectioned and shorter, with a different windshield shape..
  11. Umm, CDs are digital also, and not crappy compressed mp3s... So the CD slot is in the glovebox? Weak...is it at least a 6 disc changer, or just one disc? Note the satire. At any rate, it still exists in the car so they aren't cheaping out. However, with mp3 players/smart phones becoming more prevalent, and the inclusion of Pandora built into the latest infotainment systems, CDs aren't the standard they once were, just like cassettes before them. I know...I have about 500 CDs from the last 25 years...but I've got everything on my iPod, in iTunes and on Google Play... though I still have about 25 cassette tapes from the '80s that I haven't listened to in ages. The Jeep and DTS have CD/cassette deck combos, my Mustang originally had a cassette deck but I swapped it out for a CD player about 15 years ago.

  13. The original front end looks pretty much the same as a regular production 1954 Cadillac as do the rear fins. I like the modified version except for the quad headlights which make me think of a Checker for some reason...
  14. The 500L is about 20 inches longer than the Panda....the Panda is only 6 inches longer the 500..
  15. Is it just the lighting, or the does the red trim in the ATS appear to be a salmon pinkish red?
  16. Whatever became of the Astra?
  17. Or his Mom got tired of it parked in her driveway..
  18. Went out for brunch today, saw some interesting cars.. At a neat midcentury modern style furniture store next door to the restaurant, there was a red '57 Chrysler Imperial coupe in the carport..in sold shape overall, some cracks in the paint and AZ fade (the hood was almost pink). Behind the store was a similarly solid and faded orangish '60s Volvo P1800 coupe. Also saw a couple of ATSes out and about around town this morning...a silver one and a bright red one. Hard to think of it as December w/ nearly 80 degree weather..

  20. I suppose it's all for marketing, to distinguish consumer Ram trucks from commercial vehicles.
  21. Agreed about the Impala...definitely could do well against the Taurus and Avalon. Portage Lakes, haven't thought of that area in ages...been there a few times about 20 years ago when I lived in Kent..went there w/ a buddy to look at a car once--guy had a rusty green '71 Grand Ville convertible for sale and a wrecked early '60s Jag E-type in his garage...
  22. Lots of interesting rusties in his pics, I found interesting he has not 1 but 2 '61 Catalina 2dr sedans...I thought the '61 B-body 2dr sedans had such a neat roofline...
  23. 2wd burbans sell well here and in Texas and Florida, I would think...the stripped down nature of this one makes it a hard sell, I would think.
  24. Anyhoo, back on topic....I wonder if this Impala will be as heavily fleeted as the current model, not at first I suspect, but it will be a lower volume car than the current one, probably.
  25. -There are some great back roads in Ohio, I drove many of them when I lived there--my favorite roads being in Tuscarawas, Holmes, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey counties..my old stomping ground...had a lot of fun there in the late 80s-mid 90s with my 5.0. One of my favorites was nicknamed Rollercoaster Road...used to bottom out my Mustang on that one by cresting hills too fast .I miss taking weekend fun drives in Ohio's green hills....just ugly desert out in the sticks here (some decent windy roads, though). But roads like those are for weekend pleasure driving, I'm talking about the daily grind to and from work...pretty much the same in most metro areas I've spent time in...congested roads in the burbs and cities...the commute takes the fun out of driving.
