  1. Is the Volt production fully ramped up? On sale in all states?
  2. I've heard today may be the last 100 degree day of the year. Woohoo! Cool weather is coming!
  3. Pretty low volume for an automaker in the US market.
  4. I used to have a coworker that had a mega commute (like 80 miles each way)..had a 2yr old Accord w/ about 150k miles, was filthy inside--dust on the dash, stains on the cloth seats w/ empty McDonalds bags, coffee cups, soda cups, juice drink boxes, dirty diapers on the rear floor...we only went out to lunch w/ him driving once..that was enough.
  5. Hey your an Ohio guy rt.? We swim in the 70*F don't you still? Yes, but 4 summers in AZ have messed up my sense of hot/cold, I think. Just got out of the pool, it's 84F in the water. BRRRR. (in July/August it's 92-94). Coldest I got in last season was 78, I think.
  6. Looking forward to cool fall weather. 98 here today. Today may be my last pool day of the season.
  7. Ugh... Speaking of car messes... I was heading home from Starbucks this morning w/ a tray w/ two venti (very large) Pumpkin Spice Lattes in the passenger seat (should have had in the floor). Slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a cat that darted across the street in front of me. Coffee went all over the passenger floor, lower console and lower dash. What a mess. The carpeted floormat caught a lot of it, washed it...sprayed down a bunch of carpet cleaner, still have a lot of brown damp on the charcoal carpet, still smells like coffee inside. Wasn't a good start to a Saturday...
  8. Supply and demand, I think..demand is outstripping supply for affordable used cars..
  9. Saw a very sharp pale yellow & white '56 Chevy Nomad, with whitewalls and chrome reverse/w baby moons wheels. Also saw a pair of derelict battered well-worn old Chevy regular cab long bed fleetside pickups puttering around--a '71-72 in primer gray and a white '81-87 w/ the '88-91 Suburban/Blazer/heavy duty style grille... later sightings: Another worn longbed fleetside Chevy truck--a '64-66 in two tone blue w/ a white roof. A pale yellow '62 Buick 4dr ht (saw from a distance, not sure if was a Le Sabre or Electra, both had 4 window versions then I think).. A sharp, clean '80-83 Lincoln Mark VI convertible, top down, dark red w/ red interior, whitewalls w/ wire wheel covers, rolling down the street...
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. Nice..I've always liked both generations Legend coupes..good looking cars. My sister used have a 1st gen ('91), was a nice driving car..so easy to see out of, lots of glass.
  12. More gears will probably result in more efficiency and smoothness..
  13. I figured this was inevitable. Cadillac needs to leap forward with a 12- or 15- speed. I bet BMW, Lexus and M-B will have 10 or more by 2015..
  14. Saw a really clean taupe (kind of a tan-purple-gray) '79-85 Eldorado Biarritz in traffic this morning. Haven't seen a nice Riv or Toro from that generation in a long time.
  15. I remember in '70s Ford compared the Granada to a Mercedes in some ad...absurd.
  16. Pointless. Cadillacs need to sell on their own merits, not contrived comparisons to random competitor models.
  17. One detail I like on vintage cars with long rear overhangs is the length of the decklids..nice to see a decklid with length measured in feet rather than inches. An eclectic mix. Sedan deckids today are trending towards the proportions seen in the mid to late '30s where the decklid is mostly vertical.
  18. As far Toyota, the Tacoma is US and Canada only--the global Toyota pickup is the smaller Hilux. Not sure about Nissan, IIRC the Frontier was sold in Europe as the Navara.
  19. Cool..lots of interesting cars there..that green 911 is a '72, only year that the oil filler door on the right rear quarter.
  20. At the gas station this morning saw a sharp black '80s El Camino w/ an '87 Monte Carlo LS front end (composite headlight style). Black rear bumper, 17 inch or so chrome wheels.
  21. It probably will have the skip shift thing like they have for years on Corvette manuals.
  22. 21 speeds like my bike would be cool..have 7 slots for the shifter, with a paddle shift to go up to 8-14 range and up to 15-21 range and down again...
  23. Did you read 'From a Buick 8'? 'Mile 81' is reminiscent of that book.
  24. So the driver can get out on either side.
  25. IIRC there is a annual national Matchbox convention in NJ somewhere. There is so many interesting events in the diecast, model car, and 1:1 car world that happen in PA and elsewhere on the East Coast...wouldn't mind being closer than a 4-5 hr plane ride..
