  1. I wouldn't quite call it 'tiny'..over 1/2 million, slightly larger than Denver..2.2 mil in the metro area..I like that size of city, manageable...lots of tech jobs, lots of good local beers, pretty diverse restaurant scene, lots of outdoor recreation..
  2. That is a totally badass accomplishment...
  3. Makes sense in really dark rural areas...I drove w/ driving lights at night always in rural Ohio...
  4. That's what I assumed...reminds me of my experiences in London, Milan, Rome, Paris and Dublin...very easy cities to explore and enjoy w/o a car.
  5. As far as cities I'm fairly familiar with, Portland seems to be pretty nice as far as trains, livability and walkability in it's downtown core...I've been there for a few conferences for 4-5 days w/o a car with no problems getting around...great that they have light rail from the airport. Denver's downtown core is quite walkable, and has good light rail access around the city and into the burbs...lots to see and do downtown, and liveable..alas, the airport light rail line is still a few years off.. Phoenix's downtown is a wasteland for the most part..the light rail isn't used much and don't go very far...very much a spread out 20th century sprawly city built around the car...
  6. And that city is... a European city? Or are you thinking of someplace in the US?
  7. I suppose w/ some work a Caddy 425 or 500 could be fitted...that would be brand-appropriate, though I don't know if such a beast could be made to pass emissions. A Chevy or Olds engine just seems inappropriate.
  8. I don't recall my GM cars being able to do that... in fact, IIUC, its against the law to drive here in NJ with parking lights and fogs only. Keep in mind, I only use the fog lamps in... surprise... fog. And fog is fairly rare here. The best fog light related feature... on the '04 GP GTP, you have to turn the fogs on EVERY time you start the car... so its less likely that you are driving with the fogs on all the time. A pet peeve of mine. The fog/driving lights on my Jeep can work w/ the parking lights only, though I don't think I've ever used them like that. I use them occasionally, mostly on dark nights when I want more light right in front of me..
  9. You are talking tiny numbers here. America is still a nation on wheels. And there are the millions in large cities that ride light rail, underground, trains, taxis, all with wheels... And there are the business people w/ multimodal commutes--car to the airport, plane, taxi or rental car from the airport to a hotel...repeat every week...
  10. They can't go too high without getting into Cadillac's space...they have the bling lux market covered w/ the Escalade..(the Yukon Denali seems to be in the same space).
  11. Hmmm... I'm not sure if there is one and it just keeps popping up at different places all over the metro area, but I've seen one or more Lincoln Blackwoods over the last couple of years, every few weeks...I've also seen 3-4 Mark LTs in the last month or so. Another uncommon vehicle that I see fairly often (like once every 6 weeks or so) are Chrysler TCs--at least 2 different ones (a red one and maybe 2 different yellow ones)..
  12. Great color and lighting..I dig old brick buildings...don't see them very often out here.
  13. Wow...the years of driving required to accumulate that many miles on a Yugo...what a depressing, dire experience that must have been.
  14. Hasn't this already been debated on here dozens of times? It's a moot point--the world's automakers have long since moved on from pushrod to DOHC..there are only a couple holdouts..
  15. Saw some uncommon cars tonight... A biege denty Gremlin on the side of the freeway A well-worn white Lincoln Mk VII LSC...I used to really like those cars back in the day a black Lexus CT200h--first one I've seen on the road. Has the 'string of pearls' led parking lights up front..I thought that was a neat detail when the Audi R8 was the first with them a few years ago, now it just looks tired and played out, IMO a silver blue Lexus HS. Maybe only the 3rd one I've seen.. and the 'best' for last--- a homebrew late '80s Pontiac Sunbird 'El Camino'--4dr wagon w/ the roof hacked off at the b-pillar w/ a tonneau cover over the 'bed' area..wierd.
  16. can't have interest rates if you don't use money. UFP has 'credits'...don't know how that model is supposed to work, though..
  17. A nearby auto repair shop had a yellow '74-76 Dodge Dart 2dr ht in their lot and what looked like a green '73 Century or Regal in one of the stalls (just saw the rear end quickly)..
  18. Uh... the GXP G8 only comes with a 6-speed Manual, the GT G8 comes with a 6-spd automatic. They never made a V8 G8 with a 4-speed. Yup. There was no 4-speed on ANY trim of the G8. I was thinking he might have meant G6 GXP... but I don't think that ever had a 4-speed, either. Oh well, so much for credibility... ;-) Don't buy a Pontiac from his lot... its got a busted transmission. Probably meant GP GXP...the Grand Prix was offered w/ the same V8/ 4spd setup as the Impala SS..
  19. Yes...Chrysler has sufficiently differentiated the Charger and 300, GM *could* do something similar w/ Chevy and Buick were they so motivated.
  20. Funny how times change...in the mid '90s, Chevy, Buick and Cadillac all had RWD V8 flagships, and Hyundai had vile 4cyl FWD generics only...
  21. '00 Jeep, Patriot Blue '87 Mustang, Medium Canyon Red '69 Mustang, Wimbeldon White
  22. Happy Birthday!
  23. That is a subject that has been and will continue to be debated here endlessly...GM has the Zeta platform but seems unwilling to utilize it fully in NA..
  24. I assume once the Lucerne is dropped (is it around for '12?) the LaCrosse will be the flagship....
  25. Probably 5 years since I've watched the original trilogy..I have them in regular DVD format and VHS from the '90s reissues. Saw them in the theater on the original runs as a kid, and the re-releases back in the '90s when I was in grad school..
