  1. Happy Birthday!
  2. I found a bunch of new '11 issue Matchboxes, incl. the silver Caddy CTS coupe. Haven't found the red CTS-v wagon or blue early '70s Firebird Formula yet.
  3. Skylark and Skyhawk just sound so dated, not necessarly implying a bad vehicle... Maybe Verano Sport to link it to the Verano. Or GSC.
  4. When EVs have performance comparable to a normal car, can be driven at least 350 miles between charge ups, can be recharged in under 5 minutes (comparable to a gas tank fill up), when charging points are as ubiquitous as gas stations, and can be driven for under $50/week (a typical gas fill up for me), then I might have some interest...
  5. Won't go very far until it runs out of gas, though. Need something like Fred Flintstone's car..not dependent on electricity or fossil fuel..
  6. Because the J body was far worse the Odyessey or G20 (though the first gen of the G37 was really the G35, the FWD G20 is unrelated)....
  7. Interesting...first I've heard of Omega...maybe the successor to Zeta?
  8. Must keep it waxed and in the shade..doesn't have the usual AZ paint oxidation. I saw a black Maxima today that couldn't have been over 5 years old or so and the roof, hood, and decklid were mostly gray/white... Sits in the sun all day at work in the garage once home .... hummmm notice just one thing, it's not black, and I NEVER put wax on cars. I've seen oxidized white cars here also...

  10. Cool..that tray is very similar to the ice trays in my folks' '67 GE fridge, it lasted about 35 years...
  11. I can't imagine a scenario where I'd buy a subcompact, but I'd probably get a Mini over any of the more pedestrian models..at least it has style.
  12. Hmmmm...some sort of Frigidaire appliance?
  13. It just seems too young and sporty for Buick..doesn't fit w/ Buick's image of silver, comfort-oriented sedans w/ automatics. Could have made a nice little Pontiac.
  14. Though GM seems to have given up on 2- and 3-dr FWD models in NA, this car would be a nice addition to the Chevy line IMO...give it an identity distinct from the Cruze, maybe call it a Monza.
  15. Perhaps, but using which platform? Kappa was based on the Corvette's Y-body (at least conceptually) making it extremely inflexible. GM would require a) to develop or redevelop such a platform, or b) adapt the smaller RWD architecture (Alpha) for such a vehicle. I think that dynamically both solutions would work equally well, so the choice comes down to cost: where does GM get the biggest margin from? A small sporty coupe needs to be light, though...I doubt if Alpha (if it ever sees production) will be very light..(maybe at least 3500lbs?)
  16. I've only seen Jukes on the Nissan dealer lot...can't recall seeing one on the street yet.. Of course, GM once had a subcompact CUV--remember the Chevy Tracker? More conventional looking than the juke..
  17. Isn't it much smaller than the Rogue? More a subcompact CUV/WUV (wierd utility vehicle) while the Rogue is a compact CUV?
  18. Well, each his own. I would not abuse a $32K SUV any more than a $60K one. Well, I was living in Colorado..wanted to experience the offroading and trail roads..it's a lot of fun, and the Grand Cherokee is very capable. Part of having a Jeep in Colorado is hitting the back country. I didn't buy it to just drive to the mall like all the mainstream posers.
  19. In my neck of the woods, SUVs are only fun if you don't mind getting it all scratched up off road. Scratches and dents are part of the 4x4 experience...within a week of buying my Grand Cherokee back in '00, I had it on rocky and muddy trails at 12k feet, drove on a 50 mile washboard dirt road, got a few scratches from tree branches, etc.. Well I agree, and thats great if you have a $4000 SUV... its another thing if you have a $60K Escalade. Well, my Jeep was $32k when I bought it...it's probably worth $4000 now after 130k miles. An Escalade is inapropriate for offroad use, it's strictly for urban/suburban use.

  21. I would say '64-66 because of the cab...'60-63 still had a wrap-around windshield. Though a Google image search turns up '63s with both the wraparound and regular windshield... confusion.. Neat looking truck. Doesn't the dealer have the title and registration?
  22. Yaris, Versa, Fit, Fiesta, Sonic, Accent, XD, Rio... what am I missing Mazda 2. I didn't think of the x_D, but it's in there also...I didn't count the speciality 3dr models like the Mini, Fiat 500, or Smart.. And wasn't VW going to bring the Polo here also? So the mainstream brands currently out of the B-seg action in the US currently are VW, Dodge, Mitsubishi, Subaru and Suzuki (though Canada gets the Swift and SX4)..
  23. and I thought I was a masochist. Yeah, I love those early '70s lower, longer, wider boats..love the long hoods and sharply chisled angular lines...liked them since childhood in the '70s.
  24. The subcompact market in the US is getting crowded...8 models in the mainstream niche by my count..will interesting to see which end up on top in sales in a year or so..
  25. True enough...I've had a lot of fun on back country trails and paths w/ mine... and it's been comfortable and practical as a daily driver. I'd buy another Grand Cherokee w/o qualms, and would love to have a Wrangler for a toy.. If I had lots of garage space, I'd also love to have another type of 'fun' car--an early '70s land yacht for a car show and weekend cruiser...the ideal being a '71-72 LTD Brougham 2dr, or convertible, or a Marquis, or GM B/C/E body of the same era..
