  1. So that it interferes with the Cruze? '87 Taurus is a mid-size, not a full size, so I'm not getting the point of this. I'm also having some trouble seeing how the 190 inch Fusion is on the smaller side of mid-size. With the Malibu shortening, is it going to drop out of "mid-size"? 190 seems to be about the average size of NA market midsize models. The Mazda 6 is one of the shorter ones at 187, and even the Avenger and 200 (which look like the smallest to me) are 190, as is the Regal and Galant. The last 3 generations of Malibu have only varied by a couple of inches in length, and are about the same size as the '80s Celebrity. The Luminas in the '90s were longer (197/200). The W-bodies were considered midsize, but I suppose the Impala is considered fullsize by interior volume.
  2. It was sad to hear of DED Jr's passing..I've been a subscriber to C&D since '77, and Automobile since '86..always enjoyed his insights and musings on all things automotive...I'll have to go back and read his book again. He was all over the place w/ car mags, in Motor Trend for a while and more recently Winding Road.
  3. A convertible Volt could be a nice addition to the line...high mileage cars can be fun also, not just sober and functional.
  4. Supposed to hit 99 here in the Valley of the Sun. Fun.
  5. Bright red '11 Camaro SS convertible, top down.. Hawt...
  6. I remember that, but I can't remember what the difference was. I know a lot of people have swapped MC noses on the Caminos... and there are a lot of ChooChoo parts out there... 25 years later, I can't keep 'em straight. IIRC, the El Camino and Monte Carlo front fenders are shaped differently at the leading edge, so the nose caps are different...not sure about the hoods...
  7. I like that also...and it's on the correct side (left). One thing that has long annoyed me are cars that had the model name on the left and the brand name on the right, so they read 'Charger Dodge' for example...
  8. wooo...spinning hologram thingy.
  9. Seems a bit thick visually..maybe take 4-6 inches out of the car vertically..interesting front and rear detailing..
  10. 4>2...the 2 headlights were a weak point on many '70s GMs, esp. the '73-77 and '78-81 A-bodies that used them, IMO.
  11. I refuse to believe anything until I see new Zetas on the dealer's lot.
  12. Interesting...don't recall ever seeing that concept anywhere, in pics or in person (I went to the NAIAS from '95-97).
  13. Interesting...never heard that rumor. I suppose it was nixed because Cadillac didn't want competition, since it had the Catera which had a similar origin (the Commodore being derived also from the Omega).
  14. Would be nice...Chevy needs something interesting in sedans besides more FWD appliances...
  15. Aren't the sales of those like 90% 4 cyl, though? And who knows, the next gen of each may follow Hyundai's lead and be 4 cyl only...for FWD midsize appliances like these, 4 cyl seems more than enough.
  16. My Mustangs are stored in my Mom's barn, 2000 miles away..they get driven maybe 150-200 miles a year..I drive them when I visit, my Mom and brother drive them to cruise ins and car shows (along w/ his 4 old cars and her 2)...got a bunch of trophies and plaques on a shelf from the shows, but I've only made it to a couple of them over the years. I need to resolve my geolocation and garage issues eventually, but I really don't want to move back to Ohio, been in the West too long, but I don't want to stay in AZ. Decisions, decisions....
  17. I wonder if it will be a rebadge or a new design based on a current compact Fiat like the Grande Punto or Bravo...
  18. I'd like to be geolocated w/ my old cars ('69 Mustang, '87 Mustang) but that's not likely to happen this year...
  19. That pic reminds me, I saw a dorked out current-gen Tahoe w/ a custom grille that had a center bar very similar to that Holden Cruze grille and an unfamiliar crest in the center (same badge on the rear tailgate). It had huge (22 or 24) wheels, riding really low in the rear but high in the front..
  20. itch
  21. Oh well, at least for the RX8 and RL the sales are already non-existent so this won't make a difference..
  22. +1..I'd like to see the Jeeps all offered w/ diesels, along w/ the Durangos and the LX cars. For small cars, Fiat's hyperefficient diesel Multijet and TwinAir engines would be interesting to see...
  23. Happy Birthday!
  24. what you really see nowadays is a large variety. I do know folks who put 20k+ miles on a year and there are those who don't. As an example a nice couple stopped by today to get maintenance done on their Aerio. 8 years old, 65k miles. Yes, I know a number of people that just have brutal commutes...100-150 miles a day or more...one coworker I had in Denver would get a new Accord every 3 years after putting 75k on one in 3 years... I did a 50 mile a day commute for over 2 years (4 days a week usually, WFH one day a week)..that got tiring..couldn't imagine doubling or tripling it... (I don't know if 100 miles a day round trip is worse than 4000 air miles a week, though).
  25. That thing is hideous, IMO...too many '50s designs are overwrought..now cars like the '53-54 Studebaker coupe, '56 Chrysler 300, '56 Lincoln MK II and '55-56 T-Bird I can appreciate...I like the look of a few finny cars, but just really never got into that era.. Anywhoo, back to the original thread, I really like the styling of the '71-73 B-body sport coupes..
