  1. Not sure what Pelosi has to do with the Bay Bridge.
  2. Interesting, but where was the Lexus IS-F? The Merc AMGs (C63 or E63s)?
  3. I emailed a couple fiends out there, one lives in Concord and the other in Walnut Creek, and commute to SF. They are taking the BART instead of driving this week. One couple I know there have lived there for over 10 years, never commuted by BART, only by Suburban/Escalade previously.
  4. Next challenge: replace the hood struts. A few years ago, I had them replaced at my then-regular shop. But I figure I can do it myself now. Picked up a pair of new ones for about $25/w shipping on eBay. The seat has held up well the last 2 1/2 months, no problems. This DIY approach is kind of fun.
  5. Since college I've mostly dated slightly older (anywhere from 2 years to 8 years) women, usually academics or in business (always technology related; I can't relate to people not in the tech world). I really can't relate to someone 10 years younger than myself. Never married, though I've been engaged (unsuccessfully) myself. I have no interest in having kids and the normal suburban married w/ kids lifestyle, though I would consider marriage. My own immediate family has had a mixed track record for marriage--my folks were happily married 51 years, and they were 10 years apart age (father 10 years older). My sister, married and divorced 3 times, no kids. My brother had a kid out of marriage then married a single mom w/ 3 kids, they had one, marriage ended in messy divorce. Has no relationship w/ the kids. Has had a couple live in GFs since then.
  6. RP is Rectal Prolapse, what my dog had last month. People can get it also. What's supposed to be inside ends up on the outside. Not good. Not enough fiber in the diet can be a cause. (having pets is probably alot like raising children. You become aware of a lot of rather gross things and after a while become immune to it...just deal w/ the poo and other stuff..) Thread answer: MRI
  7. This morning was truck morning.. Saw a current style Silverado w/ a stake bed this morning.. Haven't seen a stake bed on modern truck in a while, kind of neat..reminded me of a '60s farm truck, bright red cab w/ black bed. Also saw a red current style Silverado that had every side body panel dented/mashed in, from the front bumper back to the taillights, and the tailgate was also denty. Also a previous gen (GMT800?) Silverado with the right rear fender completely cracked out..some was still there around the taillight, but the outer fender was proably 80% cracked out..didn't realize they had plastic fenders. Also saw a really clean lt. green and white two tone '73-75 Chevy longbed pickup.
  8. RP (though ED is the current trendy 2-letter disease/disorder name, RP is pretty bad also)
  9. Well, the Civic is the target of any mainstream FWD compact, isn't it? Got to aim at the market leader and try and surpass them. I assume the Euro 3rd gen Focus will also be here in a couple years, and Chrysler will have a compact Fiat sooner or later. The Sentra, Corolla and some Kia and Hyundais are out there also in this space...
  10. Apparently not. The UK model has a 1.6, 1.8, and a 2.0 diesel. No 1.4.
  11. For a rear window, I'd use superglue and glue the window in place. I almost never put them down...
  12. Yes..here's the Cruze configuration website on Chevrolet UK, for example.. Chevrolet Cruze
  13. A Sky coupe w/ a greenhouse similar to the Corvette could have been interesting.
  14. I still haven't seen one in person. Began to question if they really existed.
  15. I've seen a convertible in a bright green w/ white interior and black top. Can't recall the last time I've seen any '74-76 Pontiac full size besides the derelict '75 wagon I see occasionally around town. Some sweet cars in this thread, though the Mopar hood scoop on the '74 LeMans is a bit naff..
  16. Thought you hated Holden. Why would you bring one home? You seem to constantly contradict your past positions..
  17. Isn't it the same in the US with any non-US spec cars? I think the US has a 25 yr rule. Other than gray market Motorex GT-Rs, the only RHD cars I've seen in the US are old British cars and the occasional vintage Aussie (seen a couple sweet '70s Ford Falcons and a Monaro).
  18. How about constant peer pressure to buy a Toyota and to go out and run/exercise in 110 degree heat? I got an earful constantly from coworkers about company lunchtime exercise and 'fitting in' by driving a Toyota at a startup last year...
  19. current Toyotas (except for the FJ and 4Runner). It just amazes how much Genericans like Toyotas.
  20. slack
  21. Saw a new Lexus HS for the first time..was in the lot in front of my office building when I came out this afternoon. One of those cars that looks uglier in person than in photos, dreadful proportions, worse than the average FWD generic, IMHO. But I'm sure affluent Genericans will buy plenty of them, since it has the coveted 'L' badge. Saw a gray late model 5 dr Fiesta on the freeway, and the best sighting of the day, in my neighborhood, was a gorgeous pale blue '63 Olds Starfire ht...don't recall when I've ever seen one...pretty rare car, I think..
  22. Or Geo (Asuna for the Canadians). Best to leave them off, leave it to the traditional 5+1.
  23. Mmm...France. Makes me think of great wine, cheese, baguettes, Film Noir crime movies, unique car designs.. thread answer: Citroen
  24. In the pre mass FWD era (70s-80s), I'd say my preferences were: Pontiac Oldsmobile Buick Chevy Cadillac GMC in that order In 2010, Cadillac Chevy Buick GMC in that order. For me, I can think of many models from all the GM brands that I find interesting from about 1960 to 1980. A smaller number in the '80s, and only a handful in the '90s and the '00s. Too many appliances from GM (and other makers) in the last 30 years, IMHO.
