  2. 'SIM'?
  3. Speaking of...saw a dark green Avalon in traffic tonight..current style, with the personalized plate 'JBUICK' (Japanese Buick, I assume?)
  4. The Formula had the hood and rear spoiler, model-specific badging and some different interior trim, IIRC. Haven't seen one of those in ages...my brother had a '74 Formula 400 long ago...
  5. Sounds like the woman has dementia or another mental disorder and should be hospitalized. Or she hates her husband.
  6. Saw a '10 LaCrosse for the first time today....not up close, in motion across a divider on a 6 lane street. Looks great in motion, though...was a silverish-gold, probably not it's best color (too mild).
  7. Considering the 1st gen Volt isn't even in production yet, I'd assume it's a variation of it..
  8. Ugh. Toyota half time show. I'm content w/ either team winning, since I grew up a Steeler fan and have been a Broncos fan just the last 12 years...
  9. Yep. That's the solution to the problem for so many people I've known over the years. It may be dull, but it won't empty your bank account.
  10. 66 Stang's post is the best thing I've read today. I'd avoid 20 or 30yr old cars like I'd avoid STDs.. Old money pit cars are the car equivalent of STDs..a gift that keeps on giving. (old cars are ok as an occasional use toy, but I wouldn't trust one as a daily driver).
  11. Kickoff in 30 min or so. My favorite 2 teams in my favorite city. Augggghhh. The tension!
  12. Looking good so far...as far as the radio, maybe get a 'No Radio in Car' sign to use when parked (I've seen those in car windows in Big Bad City environments) and get a portable boombox and store it in the trunk when parked.

Going to keep my Jeep going for the time being. What I get for my next car depends a lot of what I do in the next 12-18 months, where I go.
  14. Probably..considering the Volt will likely be 50% more than the Prius.
  15. Cool..so this will be Cadillac's answer to the HS.

    I've never seen a '73-77 A-body wagon open, looks like a one-piece hatchback?

Ya...I also liked the updates to the B/C/Ds in '80 and the A/G coupes in '81, made them more aerodynamic and smoother..higher decklids and lower noses in general, more upright rear windows.

The downsized '78 A-body wagons had the lights in the bumper also, but with squared body lines compared to the rounded '73-77s.
  19. Kenosha has AMC roots. I'm leaning towards Eau Claire as like w/ LaCrosse, it sounds French. And for Canada, to go with 'Allure' maybe call it the 'Desire'.
  20. It's a local name for the local market, no doubt. A Chinese Buick shopper wouldn't know WTF a 'Skylark' was, but a Yinglang, on the other hand.. I assume the hatchback won't come to the US, but we will get only an automatic sedan which would be more fitting w/ the US brand image of Buick. Maybe for the US the compact can be called Skylark or another Wisconsin town name to fit w/ LaCrosse.

This is a random non sequitor thread, I think. Where's Pingas when you need him?
  22. I generally prefer covers of Dylan to Dylan himself in general--he's written some great songs. Though I do like some of his later work--the 'Time Out of Mind' album and the 'Wonder Boys' soundtrack in particular. In general, though, in the whole folk/rock/Americana space, I much prefer Bruce Springsteen...I never tire of hearing his mid '70s albums ('Born to Run', 'Darkness on the Edge of Town'), or his recent brilliant E Street Band albums ('The Rising', 'Magic', 'Working on Dream') and the rest... The best live performances I've seen in 25 years of concerts have been BS & ESB shows...
  23. I like the slate and tan a lot...nice contrast. My Jeep is dark slate all over inside...I wonder if I could two tone it.
  24. Nah, definitely not by myself. My buddy Craig from the U. of Michigan is a research scientist at Los Alamos National Lab. I've gone hiking in NM w/ him and his family several times since '97. I'm not much of a hiker, just a casual hike along established trails. Done similar hikes in Colorado w/ my buddies there. Rob
  25. Yes...beautiful area..
