  1. Worse than AZ, IMHO. I generally dislike the South and SW (except for SE Florida and the Keys).
  2. Yes, like Arizona.
  3. Saw a Terrain for the first time yesterday. Looks better in person than in the pics, though the grille seems overwrought. I wonder how it would look in states that require a front plate.
  4. Well, no Rockies in the series, but I got to support the Phillies..anyone that's against the Yankees..
  5. Haven't seen too many Avalanches w/ caps. I've seen at work a white Ridgeline w/ a tight fitting matching cap and gold trim..at a quick glance, I thought it was an SUV until I realized what it was...
  6. Is that one of those funky ones with a V engine stuck on the nose?
  7. Yeah, in 9 years of ownership I've driven it a lot, but never done much myself on it...washed and waxed it a few times, but usually just go through the automated wash. Other than swapping flat tires, changing bulbs and wiper blades, it's gone to the shop for any regular maintenance. I'm a software guy, hardware has normally been out of my depth.. Rob
  8. Ya, wagons of any sort aren't too common these days.. Saw what looked like an Aspen or Volare wagon on the side of the freeway last night...
  9. I'm sure some people that kinda know Novas are thinking, 'did Chevy make a 2dr Nova wagon'? And others are thinking, 'oh, that's one of those rare 2dr Nova wagons'..
  10. Saw an oldie of a GM truck--an early '60s Corvair rampside pickup, missing the ramp on the right side. White.
  11. That's what it was...normal rear wheels, but the wider, squarish taillight..didn't recognize it at the time for what it was.
  12. Yeah, can't recall when I've had a car with those (besides my '69 Mustang).
  13. I wouldn't mind having another older car to tinker with, not a money pit, but something nice...but I'll usually always prioritize my disposable money for vacations before another car. I don't have enough garage space either. A few years from now, though, once I have a bigger house w/ more garage space far, far away from AZ, then maybe I'll have time for another 1:1 toy..
  14. I'll study them and look at the shop manual DVD. I've been proping the hood open lately w/ a snow brush to check fluids. I miss having an old style prop rod, those never broke.
  15. Think I'm going to go for some sushi tonight.
  16. That Firebird looks pretty rough also.
  17. Not sure what Pelosi has to do with the Bay Bridge.
  18. Interesting, but where was the Lexus IS-F? The Merc AMGs (C63 or E63s)?
  19. I emailed a couple fiends out there, one lives in Concord and the other in Walnut Creek, and commute to SF. They are taking the BART instead of driving this week. One couple I know there have lived there for over 10 years, never commuted by BART, only by Suburban/Escalade previously.
  20. Next challenge: replace the hood struts. A few years ago, I had them replaced at my then-regular shop. But I figure I can do it myself now. Picked up a pair of new ones for about $25/w shipping on eBay. The seat has held up well the last 2 1/2 months, no problems. This DIY approach is kind of fun.
  21. Since college I've mostly dated slightly older (anywhere from 2 years to 8 years) women, usually academics or in business (always technology related; I can't relate to people not in the tech world). I really can't relate to someone 10 years younger than myself. Never married, though I've been engaged (unsuccessfully) myself. I have no interest in having kids and the normal suburban married w/ kids lifestyle, though I would consider marriage. My own immediate family has had a mixed track record for marriage--my folks were happily married 51 years, and they were 10 years apart age (father 10 years older). My sister, married and divorced 3 times, no kids. My brother had a kid out of marriage then married a single mom w/ 3 kids, they had one, marriage ended in messy divorce. Has no relationship w/ the kids. Has had a couple live in GFs since then.
  22. RP is Rectal Prolapse, what my dog had last month. People can get it also. What's supposed to be inside ends up on the outside. Not good. Not enough fiber in the diet can be a cause. (having pets is probably alot like raising children. You become aware of a lot of rather gross things and after a while become immune to it...just deal w/ the poo and other stuff..) Thread answer: MRI
  23. This morning was truck morning.. Saw a current style Silverado w/ a stake bed this morning.. Haven't seen a stake bed on modern truck in a while, kind of neat..reminded me of a '60s farm truck, bright red cab w/ black bed. Also saw a red current style Silverado that had every side body panel dented/mashed in, from the front bumper back to the taillights, and the tailgate was also denty. Also a previous gen (GMT800?) Silverado with the right rear fender completely cracked out..some was still there around the taillight, but the outer fender was proably 80% cracked out..didn't realize they had plastic fenders. Also saw a really clean lt. green and white two tone '73-75 Chevy longbed pickup.
  24. RP (though ED is the current trendy 2-letter disease/disorder name, RP is pretty bad also)
  25. Well, the Civic is the target of any mainstream FWD compact, isn't it? Got to aim at the market leader and try and surpass them. I assume the Euro 3rd gen Focus will also be here in a couple years, and Chrysler will have a compact Fiat sooner or later. The Sentra, Corolla and some Kia and Hyundais are out there also in this space...
