  1. Ya...I've only had one pullover w/ suspicion of drinking..coming home from a party in grad school, w/ my g/f and a couple other friends in the Bronco, they were all totally wasted..I'd had about 3 beers....3 hours earlier. I did a California roll right turn, there was a police cop hiding in the darkness (it was about 3:30 am). I did the sobriety tests and passed, got off with a warning about the turn. Rob
  2. Me too...I like the '71 B-body coupes as much as I do the '61 and '65s. I esp. like the '71 Buick coupes. Rob
  3. Saw a metallic burnt orange Smart ForTwo Brabus on the road this afternoon. Totally badazz in a wannabe sort of way.
  4. Years ago in Ohio, I used to frequently drive a section of a 2-lane state route near my folks' place that was a known speed trap.. I always made a point of driving precisely at the speed limit---55mph...remember driving a few times w/ a state police cop behind me...he was just waiting for me to accelerate away in my red Mustang, but I stayed at a steady 55 until he got bored and passed me, or turned off to search for donuts.
  5. Ya, that is one seriously squished kitty. Rob
  6. So. Much. Rust. Somehow, I don't think in 40 years we will see yards like this full of Camrys, Accords, and other modern generica. They will all have been crushed instead. Rob
  7. The Cougars make me cry. Rust in peace. Rob
  8. I've been driving the '84 Merc 500SEL all week...probably has 180k on it now...not sure, because the odometer quit last year at 177,654 miles. Rob
  9. I wonder if it was a 4 lane and the jerk was driving slowly in the left lane.
  10. Well, the Wal-Mart shoppers want low prices everyday! Hyundai and Kia give them that. Rob
  11. Saw yet another '10 Camaro this morning, a black one on the freeway. In the last week, they really have started popping up everywhere. Rob
  12. That could be cool. One phantom idea I've had for years that I want to build in 1:25th would be an Olds F82....i.e. what if Oldsmobile had a '67-69 F-body? How would a Camaro/Firebird look restyled with Olds styling cues--maybe the '67-68 funky headlight treatment, or '69 split grille and vertical taillights? Rob
  13. When I first read this post, I read it as "..a Camaro with that sloping rear pillar and backlight". Got to thinking...I wonder how a '67-69 Camaro or '68-72 Nova 2dr would look with a '65-69 Corvair 2dr roof...it was similar to the bubbletop. Insane? Rob
  14. Here are some pics of a '56...only 1300 built apparently. Other than the front end, the metal all looks to be Chevy. 56 Pontiac sedan delivery Rob
  15. That's a beautiful Impala...love the color and Pro Touring build style. Rob
  16. Interesting factoid--there was a production '55 (and maybe a '56) Pontiac sedan delivery....in Canada. I've seen pics of one before in Collectible Automobile. Interesting car. Rob
  17. Today at work, I parked between an orange Honda Fit with a huge 35 MPG! decal in the rear window and a bright green Hyundai Accent. Was fun to park the nearly 5000lb 25 yr old panzer beast between them. It gets 15 mpg, maybe. Rob
  18. This thread reminds me of something odd I saw this afternoon...driving along at about 70 (65 mph limit), light traffic, in the middle lane, when a silver Genesis blows past me on the right, at least 85-90. On my far left in the HOV lane was a gray Prius, going just as fast, passed me at the same time. The Prius then darts over 2 lanes to run parallel to the Genesis...the ran together for a mile or more, speeding until they braked hard for the speed camera truck that was coming up. Wierd. Rob
  19. Some possible phantoms that would look interesting would be a '59-60 2dr ht with a flattop roof (i.e. like a 4dr ht). Or a '61 2dr ht with the 2dr sedan flattop roof. Or a '59-60 2dr ht wagon (Mercury had one, GM didn't). Rob
  20. Would make an interesting phantom, though. Likewise for an El Camino version. Rob
  21. Never heard of that..thought all Chevy II wagons were 4drs. Got a pic of one?
  22. Nope..would be a phantom. GM didn't have any 2dr wagons in the '60s except for the '64-65 Chevelles, I think. Rob
  23. I think if I were going to have a mild custom GM from the early '60s, I'd want a '61 bubbletop...my favorites probably being the Olds w/ it's skegs or a Pontiac. Keep the body work stock but custom wheels/tires, etc. I love this '61 88 I saw in Santa Monica a few years ago..
  24. A sedan delivery phantom based off one of the '61-63 GM compacts could be interesting (Tempest wagon, F85, Skylark) Rob
  25. Hmmm....'Hyundia' = Hyundai + Kia?
