  1. Only thing I've seen this weekend interesting was the clean white '62 Caddy 4dr ht that's in my neighborhood...was out Friday night walking a couple dogs, saw it cruise by, though it definitely didn't sound like I would think a vintage Caddy should sound--it sounded more like my Dad's old John Deere tractor..must have had a bad exhaust or blown muffler.
  2. Here's an unfortunate '60s Pontiac-- a firetruck fell on this guy's '69 Firebird that was parked in his driveway Friday. Denver Post article
  3. Here's a pic of a '68 Pontiac 2+2..hard to find a pic of the ht, or a stock condition one.. I like a lot of '60s Pontiacs, esp. '68-69 GTOs and the '69 Grand Prix, and many of the earlier ones.
  4. 'restore' is the verb, 'restoration' is the noun. Don't think I've seen 'restore' used as a the noun before...
  5. Not much in classic car shows here--that's more of a winter thing here, it seems. The biggest car-related thing I've done this month was watching alot of the 24 hrs of LeMans race on Speed this weekend, watched the Turkish Grand Prix last weekend, going to watch the British Grand Prix next weekend. Fun, but too passive and fattening--beer, wings, and racing on a big screen tv
  6. The Soul is a distinctive little car...I like the name of the Cube (since I work in a cube) more than the styling. The Rondo and most small Kias seem to be dreadful little turds, IMHO. The Venza hatchback is add odd but interesting looking little car.
  7. Not bad...may have to pick up the CD. Listened to the snippets on iTunes, I like.
  8. The problem is, up until recent years, GM's mass market FWD generics have been subpar and mediocre when compared to the competition (Toyota, Honda) that the mainstream public loves....25+ years of mediocrity got GM into to the trouble it's in now.
  9. I saw a black NSX the other day with the licence plate 'RCKTMON'.
  10. Go Penguins! With the Avalanche out, I have to root for the Penguins, since the Red Wings have long been the enemies of the Avalanche.
  11. 'Call it Stormy Monday'--Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Live. Awesome.
  12. It's advertainment..it's all about getting the brand advertisements to the eyeballs. One of the best descriptions I've read is to imagine dropping a bag of Skittles or M&Ms in a toilet and flushing...watch the brightly colored blobs go round and round..for 4 hours. I'm going to watch the 24hrs of LeMans some this weekend, but not the entire 24 hrs..at least there, there is a variety of shapes and styles of cars, and they go left and right..
  13. Don't forget Velcro and Tang OJ. Rob
  14. I've pulled in the wrong way when I'm in a rental I'm unfamiliar with (and don't check the gauges for an arrow) or I drive my '87 Mustang (which is on the right, while my Jeep is on the left).
  15. Meh..those suck because you have to bend over so far to reach them, and easy to spill.
  16. One could argue, though, that since they use a unibody FWD plaftform, they aren't really 'trucks'. Maybe a third forum category for CUVs and SUVs would the right thing to do..

The split screen would be great...I'd like to be able to watch 4 channels at once--- Speed for F1 in one corner, CNN or BBC for news in another, my current tiVo item in another, a DVD in the 4th panel, for example, and cycle through the audio. My biggest irritant with current HD TVs, though, is why isn't the aspect ratio of a widescreen TV the same as a widescreen movie? I hate the darn top and bottom black bars when watching a DVD..even on a larger TV it's annoying.

Agreed, f*ck 'em if they have been living under a rock and haven't been paying attention. This who 'issue' has been blown out of proportion by the media and made into a big deal that it isn't.
  19. 'Camping World'??? LOL. I thought the truck series was the Craftsman Truck Series. I haven't really paid attention in years, though.

Been ready for a while, digital cable and 3 digital TVs. Should have no problems. As far as home theatre gadgets, been on the fence about Blu Ray--still have regular DVDs. But I am thinking about upgrading from my current Series 2 tiVo to an HD one.
  21. Given the outdated technology (carburators???) and generic 'styling' of their cars that has nothing to do with the real cars, I can't imagine GM's investment being very much as it is, beyond the advertising of using the Chevrolet name on the cars. It's not like these cars use engines supplied by GM or something... I quit watching NASCAR when the did the whole lame effort of using the name and general styling of FWD production cars but with RWD race platforms thing around 1987-88. Before that, the 'stock car' idea was semi plausable, as even up until the mid '80s, the race cars actually resembled production cars...
  22. Looks like it's on the passenger side (right side). I've had cars with it on the right (a lot of Fords back to the late '70s have had it there) and on the left. On the left is slightly more convenient to pull up and fuel up. But either side works, and with gas stations with 8-10 or more pumps, it's easy enough to pull up on the correct side.
  23. The Venza is kind of in same space the Ford Taurus X/Freestyle was..a wagonish crossover based off a sedan. Something Venza-ish could be interesting for Buick, based off Epsilon II and slotted below the Enclave.
  24. Mmmm...cheetos
  25. Exactly.. Long live Mopar. I'm optimistic for the future. I've really interested in seeing how the NG GC turns out, and wouldn't mind having a white Challenger R/T sometime down the road...
