  1. Two more I saw in the evening commute that were interesting-- a red '09 Challenger SE a gorgeous black cherry '67 Ford F-series stepside pickup--body color grille and bumpers, wheels, side mount spare on the left rear fender. At lunch, I saw a very clean lt green '77 Olds 88 4dr.
  2. This reminded me of an HHR I a saw yesterday---a black combi one (panel with regular HHR windowed rear doors).
  3. Strange times we live in. This whole situation is one that calls for this emoticon: Rob
  4. Since his movie career is pretty much toast, I wonder if GM can get Tom Cruise to advertise the Cruze..
  5. Well, the Mayan calendar ends in 2012. Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Day After Tommorow) is coming out w/ an apocolytic film called 2012. And I'll be 42 in 2012, and isn't 42 the Answer to Everything in Life according to Douglas Adams? Hmm.....time to stock up on ramen noodles, I guess...
  6. Not a car per se, but I saw at a Circle K/Shell a tire air/water pump with a credit card slot in addition to the usual coin slot. Never seen one like that before.
  7. That Cutlass is the same color scheme as the worn one I saw in Ohio. I really like those cars, they were popular when I was in high school...lots of '78-87 A/G body coupes in my school... and in S. Florida, they had the same rust problems Ohio had.. Rob
  8. Different generation, but this reminded me of something I saw in Ohio over Memorial Day weekend-- a worn out silver early '80s ('84?) Olds 442... silver w/ red and black striping, big rust spots on the doors and rear quarters, rear decklid w/ a bungee cord holding it shut..pretty sad. Saw a beater '87 Grand National this morning on the freeway, faded black paint on the hood/roof/decklid, tinted windows, noticable dings and paint chips on the doors. Rob
  9. Saw a black G8 on the freeway this morning w/ blacked out windows and black aftermarket rims...looked very gangster (or gangsta? ). Rob
  10. Why not..great American city name on a great Australian car.. Rob
  11. Meh... I can't see that great city's name on a lame little Korean FWDer.. Chicago fits better on something substantial and all American, like a '91-96 Caprice. (I know, GM has no equivalent to that today).
  12. I think they just want to standardize on a single name worldwide for the new C-seg car...i.e. replace Cobalt, Lacetti, Nubira, whatever with Cruze. The world car approach for Chevy.
  13. Had to make an early run to the airport this morning. Saw a white Prius in City Aviation department trim w/ a roof light bar. Exciting. On the way there, saw a sharp gold '68 Camaro on the freeway...base model, it looked like.
  14. Of course, the reality is Prius and Insight are in production, while the Volt is still a long way off..thus, they are far ahead. GM can only wish the Volt had the cred and sales of the Prius. Then again, I'm not too interested in the Volt..the Camaro, CTS, and G8 are the GM products I'm interested in..
  15. Ya, and hopefully Ford willl make the next Focus something enthusiasts can enjoy also, as they have done w/ the European versions..
  16. Ya, the challenge for GM is to make a generic appliance as good or better than the competition, and to market it such that the Genericans will give it a try, as opposed to the obvious default choice of a Toyota, Honda, etc.
  17. Well, and they have to overlap the Malibu now, since the G6 and Aura are on their way out...
  18. The marketing geniuses somewhere figure Cruze works better than Cobalt? Who knows? Anyway, it's a new car, not related to the Cobalt, so they want to give it a fresh start...
  19. Probably because Cobalt is an NA only name...Cruze is going to be their world car...
  20. Nova would go well with Viva. And why not develop a uniquely styled coupe or 3dr off the 'Cruze' and call it Monza---to replace the Cobalt coupe?
  21. I wonder if in the interm until the Astra is here, maybe they will just rebadge the G3 and G5 (the 4dr version) as Buicks. Sounds like something GM would do..
  22. Well, their was talk of a SAAB version of the Theta/Epsilon. With SAAB's future unknown, maybe GM is repurposing that CUV...or maybe it's a version of the Captiva...
  23. Hmmm.... 'baby Enclave' could be a variation of the new Equinox/Terrain, something to fit between the Terrain and SRX.
  24. I think the bird(s) conspires w/ the neighbor's cats. They leave pawprints and scratches on my hood. Rob
  25. How about black w/ Sprinkles? Dark blue w/ sprinkles definitely is dirty (bird poo on my Jeep, like frosting sprinkles on a donut...but not in a good way).
