  1. looks like a clay model.
  2. Besides the 500, maybe the Qubo will come...could be a competitor for the Cube and xB.
  3. What is going to be interesting is if we are going to see a 500 branded as a Fiat here or will it be the Dodge Micro or whatever they call a Dodge version? It's not clear to me if Fiat is going to bring the Fiat brand here also? And maybe access to CJD showrooms will accelerate the reintroduction of the Alfa Romeo brand here... Rob
  4. Huh?? What the hell does funding of museums--ANY museum--- have to do with a wackjob shooting people in a museum? You trying to make this some sort of political thing?
  5. To further confuse matters, fans of Chrysler Corp. cars often refer to them in general as 'Mopars'...i.e. there are magazines like Mopar Action, Mopar Muscle, etc for fans of muscle Mopars (i.e. muscle Chrysler products). I'm particularlly fond of the vintage Mopies--the '70-74 Cuda and Challenger, '68-70 Chargers, Road Runners, GTXes, etc.
  6. My high school had an '84 Caprice 4dr and an '85 Celebrity. Once I got my learners' permit, I logged a lot of hours out w/ my Dad in his '79 Dodge 4x4 pickup, '84 Ford Escort diesel (which became my first car, learned to drive a manual in that car), and his '84 Town Car. I took my test in the Escort in '86. Then a year later, I got my '87 Mustang GT.
  7. Who knows, can't be any worse than Daimler-Chrysler..some 'merger of equals' that turned out to be.
  8. This was broken Catera morning...saw not 1, but 2, gold Cateras parked on the side of two different freeways, then a dark red one on the side of a 4 lane street. What are the odds of that, in a metro area of 4.2 million people??
  9. That red one looks great...no vinyl top or side molding. Perfect.
  10. Outside of various oldies at car shows the last few years (124 convertible, X-19, etc) I can't recall the last time I saw any FIAT on the road... I occasionally see an '80s-90s Alfa. There is a rough, flat red Lancia Beta coupe nearby that I see once a week or so, though.
  11. Drool....I can never get enough Boattails..probably my favorite GM design of the '70s...so bold, brash, extravagantly sculptured...and what outlandish details--an offset rear licence plate and the giant rear bumper pointy..
  12. Saw a pearl white Escalade Hybrid (with at least 20 Hybrid badges and decals) followed by a white TrailBlazer SS in line at McDonalds. Saw a dark red '80 or so Lotus Esprit Turbo, very clean condition. Saw a new black Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Drool.. Saw a clean dark green early '70s Jag XJ6 sedan. Saw a black and yellow old VW Squareback (wagon) with 'Automatic' badge on the rear hatch.
  13. Well, they are probably on the fast track to 10% market share by 2011-2012. But profitable when?
  14. By that description, that sounds identical to the car I saw on the lot last week at Courtesy Chevrolet, with a 'SOLD' sign on it. Are those wheels dealer installed or a special factory option? I got a '10 Camaro brouchure yesterday, but haven't looked at it too closely yet.
  15. Yes, a Smithsonian Museum of the American Automobile on the National Mall would be a great thing to have.
  16. Yeah, I couldn't recall if that was '64 or '65 that set that mark..that # was for the whole Chevy B-body line (Biscayne, Bel Air, Impala)
  17. Some pretty significant ones I would think would include the '77 Caprice for the volume, kind of the standard bearer at it's time for American sedans, and the first downsized. Likewise, '65 Impala, kind of a high water mark from when GM was on top. Thinking strictly of design, I would include would be the '67-69 Camaro, '63-67 Corvette, '63-65 Riviera, '66 Toronado, '67 ELdorado.
  18. I think "Penelope" when I see "Cruz(e)".

Mmmm...barn. I'd love to have a barn. At least one that's closer than 2000 miles away.
  20. Two more I saw in the evening commute that were interesting-- a red '09 Challenger SE a gorgeous black cherry '67 Ford F-series stepside pickup--body color grille and bumpers, wheels, side mount spare on the left rear fender. At lunch, I saw a very clean lt green '77 Olds 88 4dr.
  21. This reminded me of an HHR I a saw yesterday---a black combi one (panel with regular HHR windowed rear doors).
  22. Strange times we live in. This whole situation is one that calls for this emoticon: Rob
  23. Since his movie career is pretty much toast, I wonder if GM can get Tom Cruise to advertise the Cruze..
