  1. My experience has been the general public couldn't care less whether GM lives or dies..they are happy with their Accord, Camry or other appliance.
  2. Oh, please.. you think things would be better had McCain won? The Republicans couldn't care less about the American auto industry..
  3. Well, they have the strongest sales (most volume of GM's brands), and the truck market. I can't see them going under, at least in NA. I don't know how well their Chevywoo nonsense is doing in Europe, though.
  4. There have been rumbling for a while that Zeta is dead, though. And given the levels of incompetence GMNA has shown for quite a while with regard to Pontiac, I wouldn't expect them to do the right thing by the G8 (or any other model).
  5. I suspect the G8 will most likely dissapear completely... I would assume the Impala will stay W forever or be replaced by an Epsilon II FWD model in 2015-2020 or so..
  6. What I'm wondering is how quickly Pontiac will go away? No MY '10 models?
  7. And it's a '78 and also a 1 owner for 37 years. Someone can't do math, it seems.
  8. Chuck Norris Random Fact Generator
  9. I'll admit that back in the day, I thought the 6000STE was cool... also liked the Taurus SHO. Then I committed myself to RWD only (though there are some AWD cars I do like).
  10. Randomness--a Google search on 'car photo' turned up this Merc (amongst other random pics)
  11. Those look like Road & Track photos..the photographer probably has a favourite corner that he used often.
  12. Saving money by not buying a new one. Though I'm very tempted to buy a new car, but since I don't have an extra garage space currently (wouldn't want anything outside in AZ) coupled w/ the uncertainty of the economy, I'd rather keep my Jeep going another year or two. Going to go get an oil & filter change and new battery on Saturday (the first 100 degree days have weakened my 4 1/2 yr old battery).
  13. 30s Plymouth (or Dodge)? 54-55 Olds 70s Datsun B210
  14. How about a bodykit w/ wing like this..and a fart can muffler, single yellow wiper..that would be rad.
  15. Even better, have each one driven off the roof by a board member or other GM exec. It would be fitting.
  16. Yes...GM's enemy has long been itself, going back to cretins like Roger Smith and the infinite # of look-alike, mediocre FWD models of the '80s.
  17. Well, if they hadn't gone for the assistance, they'd already be dead, most likely. This is just postponing the inevitable.
  18. Yeah, it's all going to go down between now and June 1, I think.
  19. Probably best not to read any news related to GM for the rest of the year....liable to get messy.
  20. I've never found the WSJ to be that compelling in terms of articles or the opinion articles, I much prefer the NY Times..read articles on there every day.
  21. Agreed...these companies get government bailouts, yet the 'leaders' that led them into bad shape are often keeping their jobs. They need to be held accountable for their incompetence and corruption.
  22. This was one of those things that has seemed inevitable the last few years, GM has largely ignored Pontiac and invested very little in it. GM may end up just Chevy and Cadillac before all is said and done. The market has moved such that it seems difficult for automakers to have middle brands between their entry-mainstream and premium brands. Mercury seems barely there; Plymouth went away and Dodge moved down sort of. And in the US, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, VW etc have no middle brands--just broad mass-market brands and premium ones that start at the top of the mainstream ones. Oh well...what will be, will be.
