  1. I remember Ponch's Firebird blowing up in an episode also. IIRC, Ponch's car had a Formula hood w/ a T/A hood scoop added. I haven't seen ChiPs in 25 years, probably..it and Rockford Files were some of my favorite shows of childhood. A couple years ago, I got back into Rockford Files and have been collecting the seasons on DVD...I enjoy the '70s vintage So Cal scenery, clothes, cars, hair styles..
  2. Saw some Pontiac Excitement!!! today--a brand new, first ever G3 in bright yellow, a white '78 Phoenix 2dr, a gold '77-78 plain Firebird in decent shape (Jim Rockford?) and a goregous pale yellow '67 Catalina ht. Pontiac was car.
  3. Got the Jeep back, had the oil & filter changed and a new battery installed. Went to a model car show & swap meet, picked up a couple sweet restorable 49yr old AMT 1:25th scale models--both '60 Buick Invictas--a ht and a convertible.
  4. Agreed..those are the only models that are relevant. Chevy can cover the cheap FWD market.
  5. Rockin in the Free World, Pearl Jam and Neil Young
  6. The Jeep is at the shop this morning, oil change & filter and getting a new battery (old one was 4 1/2 yrs old, but in AZ they normally last 2 years or so at most). Dropped it off and walked home (only a mile)...nice day so far. Going to go get a car wash later. Going to take it easy today, maybe go to a model car show and swap meet this afternoon.
  7. Ah, forgot it was a Buick thread..they just don't have anything as interesting as Cadillac currently, I'm afraid..
  8. I'd love to have a CTS-v...but I'd be happy w/ a regular 3.2DI/manual one. The only nits I have w/ the V (besides being out of my price range) are the front fascia and limited interior color and trim choices.
  9. FYI--2008 entry lux US numbers, from Edmunds.com: - BMW continues to dominate the entry-level luxury sedan and coupe category with sales of 110,371 3 Series. No surprise there, but note the resurgence of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (up 13.8% to 72,471) and the continued solid performance of the Infiniti G35/37 (64,183). The Cadillac CTS is also hanging in there well at 58,774 while the rest of the pack is still struggling to break free from the 50,000 unit range (Lexus IS - 49,432; Acura TL - 46,766; Audi A4 - 40,656).
  10. If you haven't paid attention, the Accord, Civic, and Camry have been in the top 10 in car sales in the US for years... so obviously, the public like their product..
  11. the 'American Business' album by Cubicle
  12. My experience has been the general public couldn't care less whether GM lives or dies..they are happy with their Accord, Camry or other appliance.
  13. Oh, please.. you think things would be better had McCain won? The Republicans couldn't care less about the American auto industry..
  14. Well, they have the strongest sales (most volume of GM's brands), and the truck market. I can't see them going under, at least in NA. I don't know how well their Chevywoo nonsense is doing in Europe, though.
  15. There have been rumbling for a while that Zeta is dead, though. And given the levels of incompetence GMNA has shown for quite a while with regard to Pontiac, I wouldn't expect them to do the right thing by the G8 (or any other model).
  16. I suspect the G8 will most likely dissapear completely... I would assume the Impala will stay W forever or be replaced by an Epsilon II FWD model in 2015-2020 or so..
  17. What I'm wondering is how quickly Pontiac will go away? No MY '10 models?
  18. And it's a '78 and also a 1 owner for 37 years. Someone can't do math, it seems.
  19. Chuck Norris Random Fact Generator
  20. I'll admit that back in the day, I thought the 6000STE was cool... also liked the Taurus SHO. Then I committed myself to RWD only (though there are some AWD cars I do like).
  21. Randomness--a Google search on 'car photo' turned up this Merc (amongst other random pics)
  22. Those look like Road & Track photos..the photographer probably has a favourite corner that he used often.
  23. Saving money by not buying a new one. Though I'm very tempted to buy a new car, but since I don't have an extra garage space currently (wouldn't want anything outside in AZ) coupled w/ the uncertainty of the economy, I'd rather keep my Jeep going another year or two. Going to go get an oil & filter change and new battery on Saturday (the first 100 degree days have weakened my 4 1/2 yr old battery).
