Looks about as small as a Sebring convertible w/ the top down (which has an absurdly tiny trunk w/ the top down with a massive decklid). I had one of those in Florida from Alamo last July.

Ya, the DTS does look better...the Equus is pretty overwrought. But, the hardware is much more modern than the dated DTS.

Saw a few interesting oldies yesterday---first was a goregous pink w/ white top (a pale pink, not obnoxious) '55 Cadillac 4dr ht, then later a very clean Glacier Blue '68 Ford Galaxie 500 4dr sedan and a bronze early '70s Mercury Comet 2dr. Saw a white G8 GT this morning, may be the same one I've seen several times in the last 6 months.

Some friends of mine are looking into maybe moving to Melbourne for a few years... he's in software, she's in inside sales. They went to OZ and NZ for their honeymoon in '07, they loved it....another friend, originally from Switzerland, lived in Australia 6 years (Melbourne) before moving to Denver in '02. Australia, NZ, and HK are all on my to-do list for that part of the world for vacations...still have a lot more of Europe to see first.

That sucks. Back in 2000, a week after I bought my Grand Cherokee, the wind pushed a cart into the side and left some scratches in a Target lot.

I've never been to many East Coast beaches besides S. Florida & the Keys....and a few trips in the late '70s-early '80s as a kid w/ my folks to Myrtle Beach, SC (was a popular vacation spot for Ohioans, we vacationed there before buying the house in the Fla Keys) and a few trips out to Cape Cod in the '90s. I'd like to see some Middle Atlantic beaches some day.

Some highlights for me from visits to So Cal over the last 8-10 years include the Santa Monica Pier (I've stayed at hotels near there several times), 3rd st Promenade in Santa Monica, CityWalk, Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollyood and the nearby Hollywood & Highland shopping area (some good restaurants there), Roscoes Chicken and Waffles, driving on Mullholland Drive and the various canyons of Beverly Hills (Laurel Canyon, etc), driving through BH and Bel Air and along Santa Monica Blvd is great for car watching... I've enjoyed seeing various landmarks also, like the Griffith Park Observatory, LA City Hall, and the Capitol Records building. The Petersen is a must for car fans, and the NHRA Museum out in Pomona is very nice also. If you like art museums, I recommend visits to the Getty, LACMA and MOCA. There is a lot to see... I've enjoyed the drive down the PCH through the OC beach towns, as well as up through Malibu and beyond. The Angeles Crest Highway is a great drive also, going up in the mountains. I always try and rent a Mustang convertible when I'm in So Cal, when the weather is nice. Had a 350Z coupe one time, that was a lot of fun.

This article was actually pretty good...pretty funny in places..maybe he should stick to social and political issues rather than car reviews.

Ya...I remember talk of a Chevy 'Stingray' a few years ago, there was even an illustration on the cover of Motor Trend.

You have to consider the source...the writer is a host of Fox Business Network and it's in the WSJ, both which have a conservative bias to their news. Shouldn't this be in the Politics forum, anyway?

One thing I didn't realize is those midsize W123 diesels were available w/ both 4 and 5 cyl diesels, in turbo and non turbo forms. Imagine if that had been a 220D (not sold in the US, AFAIK)--a 2.2 4 cyl diesel with a stonking 54hp!

I rode in an '80s 300SD once, nice big comfy car, similar to 'my' 500SEL, but oh so slooooooooooow...felt slower than my 52 hp diesel Escort did, but the Escort felt 'peppier' since it was small and light.

Cool..another diesel Merc... there are still quite a few of them running around here in AZ. It seems like any W123 (even the coupes) I see is a diesel..

Yes..it's got the faux-rugged, tough look on generic FWD hardware. Nothing wrong with that...that's just what it is.

The yellow phase on some lights here, esp. in Phoenix and Scottsdale, seem very short compared to what I'm used to in the Denver area. My # 1 intersection irritant in Phoenix are the intersections w/ turn lanes but no green arrows.

I don't believe that.. Canada has good gun laws and much less violent crime than the US, even taking into account the huge population difference. I've never understood the gun 'culture' in the US...I just don't see any reason (for someone not in law enforcement or the military) to own a gun.
