  1. That DOHC 32V, Dual-VVT 6.2 L is mythical at this point, though..nothing in production currently like that from GM.
  2. Went out for some take-out Thai tonite and on the way home, saw a goregous '69/70 silver w/black top Olds 98 4dr ht cruising along...pretty cool to see a car as old as I am on out and about.
  3. My thoughts were purely speculative, but it sounds like Herr Bulger/PCS is one of CPF's henchmen, so he has a place in the future grand plans..
  4. For the same reason Lexus has a separate space? They are distinct brands..
  5. <speculation> Lutz is retiring sooner or later, and CPF is in line to replace him (or replace Rick Wagonner) ? Or GM Europe will be the central source of power in GM eventually, as GM NA dwindles from importance... </speculation>
  6. You can't really dust for vomit.
  7. Agreed..if you are going to play in the big leagues, you have to have the complexity. Audi, M-B, BMW, Jaguar, Lexus, Infiniti--DOHC V8s. Even Lincoln doesn't do pushrods.
  8. How about 4500 lbs to transport 225lbs of person to work every day? Works for me.. my Grand Cherokee is a comfortable commuter car with the features I like in a daily driver (heated seats, good sound system, power everything), goes through snow without a problem, and I afford to fill it up. I could drive a Mini to work, but it would seem a bit small (and I couldn't carry 5 people to lunch as I do on occasion, or have room for my weekend gear (the occasional skis, snowboards, bicycle). I have my V8 Mustangs and 6-cyl BMW for nice-weather weekends and the occasional drive to work.
  9. Who knows, maybe the NG Explorer will be unibody w/ a V8 option...there are SUVs that have V8 options that aren't BOF..
  10. Interesting...Toyota was the only Japanese brand in the top 10.
  11. Cadillac is the perfect place for Alpha...they can build a true 3-series sized competitor to fit below the CTS. Chevy does seem odd, but given the international reach of the brand, maybe a Chevy Alpha will be for NA and other markets...
  12. It will be interesting to see how it compares against the Highlander hybrid and Escape hybrid..
  13. Yes, but it was certainly nicer and more modern than the lousy W-body Pontiac has..
  14. I take a rational, scientific atheist view of things...when you are alive, you live, when you die, your are dead. No afterlife. Without proof of the existence of anything after death, I really can't believe in anything after death, so enjoy life while you are here...so I focus my effort on the here and now, and future..when I die, it's all gone..
  15. Probably on the right quarter panel... I noticed the lights on the camoed car..it's probably got some other headlights than production (i.e. cobbled together mule).
  16. Ah, just a little FWD econobox...I don't know how one could get too exited about such vehicles..
  17. I've heard this guy....this flight attendant is on Southwest...he was on a flight I took from DEN->PHX before Thanksgiving..
  18. Hmmm...a bunch of kiddies talking about Civic Sis? That's pretty lame...
  19. The reddish burl/walnut plood reminds me of some Sauder kit furniture I used to have...
  20. As PCS has hinted at, I suspect the secret strategy for forming the Pontiac-Buick-GMC structure is so it can become Buick-GMC eventually if it has to...
  21. Yes, adding the usual features expected of a modern vehicle results in bringing the weight up relative to a similar vehicle from 20 years ago...taking the weight out w/o removing content is expensive.
  22. I still see plenty of indifference towards US brands...I mentioned to a colleague about how GM was on the comeback with products new Malibu and CTS and he remarked 'GM? Don't they just make rental cars?'...the sad part is I think he was serious..
  23. From my experience and that of friends, BMWs are great as certified preowned purchases...too pricey new.
  24. I don't get the 'Civic' comparison..the 1-series or 3-series is a hell of alot more car than a generic Civic..
  25. Wow...almost 23k in options...the single biggest one on there is a $5200 wheel (and tire?) set..ridiculous. $400 for an iPod and USB adapter? Should be standard.. Some of the options are nonsense-- $780 for 'illuminated door sills' and $2400 for 'active cruise control'. BMWs have long been spendy with the options, though..
