Matsushita unveils 150-inch plasma TV
I'm wondering how much amplication and speakers I would need with one of these...serious wattage, 7.1, maybe some MacIntosh or Marantz gear.. if I had something this big, I'd be really interested in getting great audio to go with the picture.. (since my favorite use of HDTVs is concert DVDs, more than sports or movies)....

Death of the V8?
Heck, in the 80s I remember the death of RWD was also predicted (though for Chrysler and to a lesser degree, GM, that pretty much happened for over a decade..)

No pricing info released, but 'reports have put the 150-inch version in the $100,000 range' according to another article.

Matsushita unveils 150-inch plasma TV
Cool... the nicest TV I've so far seen is my buddy Steve's Sony Qualia 70-inch (a now discontinued model)..just incredible. This is more than twice the size...can't imagine one that big..would have to have a lot of space for it.

Northstar replacment canceled
Could be..not sure right off where the M45 or GS430 fall...

Update of cars owned (43 as I can remember)
Wow..43 in 19 years...that's a lot of cars. I've only had 6 that were mine in 20 years (oldest was an '84), (plus one inherited and several of my folks' cars that I drove at various times).

So what exactly is the big deal?
I would think they could have an exemption for commercial vehicles, so full size pickups could be sold for commercial use w/o restrictions..

Northstar replacment canceled
I suspect the European luxury makers will start offering more diesels...

Lexus SUV luxury will grow on you
Still obese...if they could loose 1000lbs, the mileage would be alot better...

Lexus SUV luxury will grow on you
True, definitely has a better suspension..and it's shared with the Land Cruiser...and the GMs are heavier still, aren't they like over 6000lbs in 4wd/AWD form?

Let it pick who you would vote for
My results: 1. Theoretical Ideal Candidate (100%) 2. Alan Augustson (campaign suspended) (85%) ( never heard of this guy) 3. Dennis Kucinich (81%) (I used to live in Ohio) 4. Barack Obama (80%) (I'll probably vote for him or Hillary) 5. Hillary Clinton (76%) 6. Joseph Biden (withdrawn) (76%) 7. Christopher Dodd (withdrawn) (73%) 8. Mike Gravel (70%) 9. John Edwards (69%) 10. Al Gore (not announced) (68%)

Lutz Talks Back IV - The Chevy Triplets
The Mini comes to mind...looks great, drives great..doesn't have the negative image that the Aveo and other tiny cars have..

End of Northstar, replaced by DI v6
That DOHC 32V, Dual-VVT 6.2 L is mythical at this point, though..nothing in production currently like that from GM.

January Car Spotting Thread
Went out for some take-out Thai tonite and on the way home, saw a goregous '69/70 silver w/black top Olds 98 4dr ht cruising along...pretty cool to see a car as old as I am on out and about.

Debate not yet settled, but Lutz thinks Impala will be FWD
My thoughts were purely speculative, but it sounds like Herr Bulger/PCS is one of CPF's henchmen, so he has a place in the future grand plans..

NAIAS 2008 Floor Plan
Robert Hall replied to Chris_Doane's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)For the same reason Lexus has a separate space? They are distinct brands..

Debate not yet settled, but Lutz thinks Impala will be FWD
<speculation> Lutz is retiring sooner or later, and CPF is in line to replace him (or replace Rick Wagonner) ? Or GM Europe will be the central source of power in GM eventually, as GM NA dwindles from importance... </speculation>

End of Northstar, replaced by DI v6
Agreed..if you are going to play in the big leagues, you have to have the complexity. Audi, M-B, BMW, Jaguar, Lexus, Infiniti--DOHC V8s. Even Lincoln doesn't do pushrods.

So what exactly is the big deal?
How about 4500 lbs to transport 225lbs of person to work every day? Works for me.. my Grand Cherokee is a comfortable commuter car with the features I like in a daily driver (heated seats, good sound system, power everything), goes through snow without a problem, and I afford to fill it up. I could drive a Mini to work, but it would seem a bit small (and I couldn't carry 5 people to lunch as I do on occasion, or have room for my weekend gear (the occasional skis, snowboards, bicycle). I have my V8 Mustangs and 6-cyl BMW for nice-weather weekends and the occasional drive to work.
