::Road Trip Update::
Ah, the folly of Sixty8s plan has come undone.. if he had taken a Camry or Prius instead, the trip would have gone smoothly and with no problems.. Remember--- Toyota-- Moving Forward <tm>

Things that make you shake your head
Though we started the war on questionable pretenses, and took out Saddam, it's not our war anymore..it's a civil war within Iraq...the $h!es are fighting the Sunnis....let them fight amongst themselves... it's not worth the lives of our soldiers to try and settle disputes amongst a bunch of Muslim nutjobs that have been fighting amongst themselves for centuries.... The idea of trying to start a democracy in Iraq is noble, but futile...these are people that for generations have only known monarchies and dictatorships...again, NOT OUR PROBLEM.

20th Anniversary Edition Corolla
True, like the Cavalier..it was popular and a big seller for decades, but was still a $h!box. I guess this is 20th anniv. of the Corolla built in Canada?

Car Spotter check: What 'econoboxes' have you been seeing on the road
I saw an older Diahatsu Charade and an mid '80s Chevy Spectrum the other day...haven't seen either of those in eons..

Things that make you shake your head
Agreed... it's good to acknowledge the past and be aware of it, but don't live in it... I like living in the here and now and looking forward to the future, not living in the past...

Alpha intro slated for late-2010
As far as the Chevy large FWD/RWD issue is concerned, maybe they should keep the Impala FWD and call the Zeta RWD model Caprice...

Things that make you shake your head
How would something that happened over 60 years ago have any relevance today? Similar kinds of things could be said about Mercedes, Opel, Mitsubishi, etc..

Things that make you shake your head
I've never had a comment from others when I put $50+ in my Jeep, since more often than not the person at the pump next to me has a bigger SUV.. (Colorado has the highest concentration of SUVs anywhere, I think)..

maximum speed you ever reached
I've seen 140mph a few times...once in my M3, once as a passenger in my friend Steve's NSX, another time driving his NSX. I had my sister's Merc S-class up to 125 once, ran out of road.. I don't know how fast I've had my Mustang GT, the speedo only goes to 85.

Up Close And Personal Look At The New M3

Calif. considers bill requiring pets be sterilized
It's a good idea.. my pets are spayed/neutered.. doesn't make sense not to. Now if they would require this for humans, that would be even better, reduce the overpopulation problems..

2009 Honda Accord diesel to hit 52 mpg!
This sounds pretty cool, esp. if it will be offered with a manual.. I'm sure this is worlds better than my '84 Escort diesel was... I'd buy a diesel again, esp. if I had a longer commute, and if I could get one that's loaded..

LCD, PLASMA, or DLP/LCD PROJECTION?
Yes, those rear projection DLP TVs offer a lot of bang for the buck compared to LCD and plasma...I bought my Toshiba 62 inch DLP 1080p about 19 months ago...the price has come way down since then...still love it, though...

Man in wheelchair pushed down Michigan highway by semi
Sounds like someone had a wild ride...too bad he didn't have a video camera and make a YouTube flick out of it..

What is the strangest thing you've seen someone do while driving?
I was a light once and a suit in a 300ZX behind me was picking his nose so agressively it looked like he had his entire hand up his nose..
-
Is it strange?
I've thought of doing it..my '00 Grand Cherokee Laredo has almost 80k on it..thought about looking for a low mileage '04 Overland (top-of-the-line model, last year of the 2nd gen design)...

Tell Us Fly...
Cool land yacht, '68.. a buddy of mine in high school back in the '80s had a sweet '76 Electra 225 coupe--bright red w/ white 1/2 vinyl top and red interior...what a boat.

Got That Itch Again ...
I have the new car itch myself... and a new job starting in 2 weeks.. leaving the relative security of a corporate cubicle (with 4 weeks vacation, good salary, 4 1/2 years there, bored to death) for a hired gun 1 yr contract job at a higher rate that looks like it will be a lot more fun...(in a completely different vertical--going from insurance P&C software to aviation mapping software). So I'll put off buying something until I'm sure the contract is going to fly, then I may look at getting something else..(since I've had my Jeep 7 years and almost 80k miles, I'd like to have something new for a daily driver..not sure if I should wait on the '08 CTS or find something else).

General Motors India May sales up at 55%
Interesting...too bad GM India's products aren't spicy like vindaloo...

Finally! A Victory!...Sort of...
It's the same as when I got my '87 GT when I was a teenager...Mustangs are just plain fun, even at age 37 (which I will be in a few weeks). Great styling, plenty of power, relatively cheap. I saw a black '07 GT convertible w/ red & black interior on the local Ford lot Sunday...good thing it was Sunday, if I had test driven it, I probably would have bought it (I still would like to have another Mustang sooner or later)....and if I hadn't resigned from my job yesterday (starting a new contract gig in two weeks)...

Words that remind you of something else
I work with a lot of Canadians that are always talking about their hometown, Regina..they pronounce it such that it rhymes with a certain female body part...

The Regal made it "home"
The longest with an older car was in my Mustang GT which was 10 years old at the time with 45k miles--drove from Ann Arbor to Colorado Springs (about 1200 miles), almost 10 years ago to the day.. since then, I've taken a few road trips of some length, but only with late model/low mileage cars. I just don't trust higher mileage/older cars not to break, so I probably wouldn't take my Jeep on a long trip now (it is 7 years old, almost 80k miles).

WHERE IS CROC?
Looks like a kid with a goofy haircut...

Which generation do you fall under?
They say we (Xers) are one of the smaller generations, numbers-wise... And I've heard of Gen Y only going to 1998, and those born in '99 and after are 'millenials' (instead of Gen Z)... I don't know..

Which generation do you fall under?
I'm an Xer (1970), but having been raised by 'Silent Generation'/'Greatest Generation' parents and with two older siblings that are baby boomers, I've been exposed to stuff from past generations that I've come to like (movies, music, cars, etc), in addition to liking things of my generation...
