  1. Finally a Camino good looking enough to drive!
  2. If you're not wanting to row your own, definitely wait for the 2012 Cruze Eco.
  3. Congrats!
  4. In my area, you'd be looking at a $40 a month increase in your electricity bill. If you fall within the "average commuter" guidelines of the Volt and rarely use gasoline, that $40 would be substantially offset by gas cost savings. Best Buy will probably be doing a "free charge with purchase" type of deal. But even if they charge for a charge, it wouldn't cost more than a couple bucks. The Volt can only take 3.5 KW an hour of charging. Even at 15 cents a KWH, Best Buy is only looking at a 52.5 cent cost for an hour of charging. (that is only counting the energy costs, the installation of the charger is more of course)
  5. There was never enough product differentiation between Benz and Maybach. Just like this isn't an Imperial
  6. No one said it could not be done. A well trained driver and the Vette is not full less electronics. It may not be to the over kill extent of the Nissan which is good but the Vette has systems that can make a average driver a much better driver. I am begining to think this is high school again? There is 7 pages of posts in the other thread of people saying that the Corvette couldn't be competitive unless it goes DOHC. I also didn't say the Corvette didn't have electronics (however, it does have a competition mode that lets you shut most of them down.) The Nissan has 3 computer controlled differentials... that's a bit more computer intrusion... and the only way to get those numbers in the GT-R is with those computers. The Corvette + skilled driver performs better without. It's not highschool. It's proof that the "DOHC ONLY" drumbeat isn't all it's cracked up to be.
  7. Well it's not so much of a "which is better" discussion, because different people have different needs. This is more of a discussion about people worshiping at the alter of Steve Jobs, calling these upgrades great innovations, when in fact they've been available on a competing platform for a while. It's kinda like SMK praising BMW for coming out with heads up display, night vision, and automatic high beams.
  8. Opel should be Europe's Buick
  9. I've always been told that CIB is inferior in every way and that the Corvette was falling behind the likes of the GT-R and 911 Turbo. Next up: Complaints about how the Corvette's armrest isn't as soft touch as the Nissan's.
  10. While I don't know the specifics, I've never had a file on my iPod not play in a GM car and I have a mix of all sorts of file types.
  11. The proof is that a pushrod RWD sports car beat the Turbo DOHC AWD computerized wonder that does the driving for you so you don't make any mistakes.
  12. What the hell would VW want with yet another German brand?
  13. uh... DF you need to re-batten those hatches again.....
  14. It's the Subaru Toyotation lately. I agree that it was these little things that made a Subaru a Subaru. If/When they drop the H engines... they're done.
  15. And they are under contract with the U.S. Military to provide extra service.
  16. Do we care about where GM makes a profit... as long as they make a profit?! They got product placement in a historical drama of dubious accuracy....are you going to complain that they were heavily featured in The Matrix or Transformers also?
  17. Keep the politics down please. I doubt Dan Akerson had any prior knowledge of this. The CEO of GM did not know ?? Really Thats hard to believe http://nlpc.org/stor...communist-party Many of the top stories on there don't pass the laugh test... and you'll pardon me if I don't take anything from them with more than a grain of salt after I read who funds the NLPC, my hometown right wing astroturfer Richard Mellon Scaife, the man behind the push for Clinton Impeachment while the head of his largest property The Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Ed Harrell was busy schtupping young guys on the side. Edit: After I found the story you were trying to link (your link didn't work), Ackerson was clearly referring to the changed culture at GM and likening the size of that shift to the massive cultural shift in China. It was not a comparison of content but of size. Edit 2: However, I do agree with the part of the general Anti-GM-Anything tone of that whole website that Ackerson is unfit to be CEO of GM.... but for completely different reasons than what they cite.
  18. Dear Pushrod haters. Now what you got to say? Factory stock Corvette ZR-1 beats the 2011 Nissan GT-R around the Nurburghring by 4.59 seconds.
  19. Corvette Returns to Nurburgring New 2012 models eclipse previous-best lap times at Germany's famed testing ground <iframe frameborder='0' scrolling='no' align='middle' SRC='http://mediasuite.multicastmedia.com/player.php?v=w8a8i47o' height='215' width='280' allowtransparency='true'></iframe> DETROIT – Corvette returned to the world's most-demanding testing ground – Germany's famed Nurburgring – and recorded lap times that rank among the fastest recorded for a production car. As detailed on video, the 2012 Corvette ZR1 recorded a lap time of 7:19.63, more than six seconds faster than the previous Corvette-best recorded in 2008. A lap video featuring the Corvette Z06 will be released soon. "Testing at the Nurburgring is one of the important methods we have to validate our car in the toughest track conditions." says Tadge Juechter, Corvette vehicle line director and chief engineer. Measuring 12.9 miles (20.8 km) and including some 154 turns, the Nurburgring's Nordschleife ("north loop") is widely considered the world's most-demanding course. As was the case at Corvette's last test in 2008, the car was driven by Corvette engineer Jim Mero and was a full production model with no performance modifications. This test was to validate the car's added performance technology coming to production later this summer for the 2012 model year. Corvette's improved performance for 2012 begins with the new, optional Michelin® Pilot® Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires, which are available on the two highest-performing models, the lightweight, 505-hp (377 kW) Z06 and the maximum-performance, 638-hp (476 kW) supercharged ZR1. They are competition-oriented tires, optimized for warm, dry conditions to increase cornering and handling capability. When combined with the Corvette's exclusive Performance Traction Management (PTM) technology – which manages torque delivery for maximum performance – the tires set new benchmarks for Corvette performance. Engineers estimate an 8-percent gain in maximum lateral acceleration, to more than 1.1g, and improved braking distance. ------------------ DD - 4.59 second faster than the '11 Nissan GT-R,
  20. Keep the politics down please. I doubt Dan Akerson had any prior knowledge of this.
  21. China is communist in name only.
  22. I see no problem having both engines. More choice is always good.
  23. Tell him this about the Roadmaster. It's a great way to embarass his fart-can Civic driving friends. and someone already put pipes on it.
