  1. well I don't think they are called GMT anything anymore.
  2. yes, both have been discontinued.
  3. I care more about GM turning a profit and putting out a car that sells well. I think the XTS could sell well like the SRX, another car that has been blasted around here, has. BTW, the "lame because it's FWD" SRX outsold the "new and wonderfulness because they're RWD" X3 and GLK by 1,000 and 1,600 units respectively again this month. When will people stop buying what they want and start buying what you want them to buy!?!?
  4. You think any of this matters to the some 50% of BMW 1-series buyers who think their car is FWD? Or how about my female friend, who's reply when I suggested she rotate her tires was "Don't they do that on their own?" Most people don't know what a platform is much less which way the engine is pointing. I forgot another obviously premium FWD platform.... EVERY SUBARU EVER!
  5. BMW Group U.S. Reports May 2011 Sales BMW X3 and 5 Series sales lead the way MINI sets the pace, sales up 46.3% - Year-to-date Woodcliff Lake, NJ – June 1, 2011… The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported May sales of 26,452 vehicles, an increase of 19.7 percent from the 22,092 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, BMW Group is up 18.7% on sales of 116,656 in the first five months of 2011 compared to 98,254 in the same period in 2010. "This month, BMW and MINI sales progress continues in what's clearly a yo-yo economy as consumer sentiment varies from optimism to pessimism month-to-month," said Jim O'Donnell, President and CEO, BMW of North America. "We believe it's having a steady run of new models as we've just added the new 6 Series Convertible to the new X3 and 5 Series to further drive BMW sales, and MINI is no different because of the new Countryman as well as higher gas prices increasing small vehicle focus." BMW Brand Sales Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 15.6% in May for a total of 20,651 compared to 17,859 vehicles sold in May 2010. Year-to-date, the BMW brand is up 13.0% on sales of 92,068 January through May compared to 81,450 sold in the first five months of 2010. In May, best performing vehicles included the new BMW X3 SAV. On sale in the U.S. since mid-January, the new X3 has sold 10,337 compared with 2,715 in the same period of 2010, a 280.7% increase. The BMW SAV segment (X3, X5, X6) continues growing with sales for the year-to-date up 43.9% - 25,204 in the first five months of 2011 compared with 17,517 in the same period of 2010. The BMW 5 Series continues its very strong sales growth with May posting an 83.5% increase over May 2010. Year-to-date the 5 Series has sold 20,922 compared to 11,981 in the first five months of 2010, a 74.6% increase. BMW Pre-Owned Vehicles In May, sales of BMW used vehicles (including certified pre-owned and pre-owned) totaled 14,773, a decrease of 1.2% from the 14,958 sold in May 2010. 12. Subaru of America Sales Rise Nearly 8% Year-to-Date - Subaru Outback and Legacy Record Best May Ever Despite Inventory Limitations - CHERRY HILL, N.J., June 1, 2011 - Subaru of America, Inc. today announced a nearly 8% year-to-date sales increase, with 20,036 units sold in May 2011 – resulting in total YTD sales of 112,255. However, while Subaru Legacy and Outback models experienced year-over-year growth, sales of Forester, Impreza and Tribeca decreased due to inventory limitations. "While we have had a very strong start to 2011, and demand for our products in dealerships remains at record levels, we are now experiencing a slowdown in deliveries following the disruption to vehicle and parts production in Japan as a result of the March earthquake and tsunami," said Thomas J. Doll, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc. "We expect this to continue in the short term while the production situation in Japan returns to normal. Even allowing for this temporary slowdown in deliveries, we still expect 2011 to be the second best year ever for the Subaru brand in the U.S." Subaru Legacy sales increased 1 percent and Subaru Outback sales increased nearly 11 percent from May 2010. The Subaru Forester and Impreza saw month-to-date decreases of 35% and 39%, respectively. <table cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td colspan="7" style="border-bottom:solid black 1pt; padding-right: 6pt; 19. Hot Sales Pace Continues for Ford's New Fuel-Efficient Vehicles and Powertrains Strong demand for Ford's new fuel-efficient vehicles and powertrains continued in May Ford's all-new Fiesta and Focus combined for 29,423 sales – Ford's biggest small car month since May 2008 Explorer posts highest sales in 47 months; total sales up 135 percent; retail sales quadruple from a year ago Fusion and Escape continue record setting sales pace with strong demand for 4-cylinder engines; F-150's all-new V6 engines outsell the V8s Ford's May sales totaled 192,102, equal to a year ago; year-to-date sales totaled 878,600, up 12 percent Ford announces third quarter North American production DEARBORN, Mich., June 1, 2011 – Consumer demand remained strong in May for Ford's new fuel-efficient vehicles and powertrains, bringing significant year-over-year sales gains for small cars and Explorer. "Customers increasingly are demanding new products that deliver compelling fuel economy," said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. "Ford's new fuel-efficient products and powertrains arrived at the right time – just as fuel efficiency became even more of a consideration among consumers." Ford's two all-new small cars combined had sales of 29,423 in May, up 74 percent versus a year ago. It was Ford's largest small car month since May 2008. Fiesta sales were 7,120, and Focus sales were 22,303, up 32 percent versus a year ago. The Ford Fusion midsize car also has started 2011 strong – with five straight monthly sales records. In May, Fusion sales totaled 24,666, its second highest month ever, and up 10 percent versus a year ago. Eighty percent of customers equipped their new Fusion with a 4-cylinder engine, up from 50 percent when the car debuted five years ago. Sales of the Lincoln MKZ were up 24 percent in May and the MKZ Hybrid accounted for 22 percent of sales. Explorer sales totaled 13,318, up 135 percent versus a year ago. This is the highest sales for Explorer in 47 months. In the first five months of 2011, the new Explorer is setting a torrid pace, with year-to-date sales totaling 55,401, up 120 percent. In June, Explorer will surpass last year's full-year sales total of 60,687. Explorer has class-leading highway fuel economy of 25 mpg. Escape sales totaled 23,140, up 21 percent. Fifty percent of customers now equip their Escape with a 4-cylinder engine, up from 40 percent a few years ago. Truck sales were lower in May, with higher gas prices likely causing some buyers to defer purchases. Still, Ford's F-Series truck remained the best-selling vehicle in the U.S. with May sales of 42,399 (down 15 percent versus a year ago) and year-to-date sales of 214,461 (up 11 percent). The new 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine accounted for 41 percent of F-150 retail sales in May, up 4 percentage points from April. The total V6 mix, including the new 3.7-liter engine, was 55 percent – surpassing sales of F-150s equipped with V8s. Sales Summary - In May, total sales were 192,102, equal to a year ago. Retail sales were up 5 percent, and fleet sales were down 8 percent. (Commercial was down 1 percent, government was down 9 percent, and daily rental was down 13 percent.) Year-to-date, total sales were 878,600, up 12 percent. Retail sales were up 14 percent, and fleet sales were up 8 percent. 22. May U.S. Retail Sales Rise 9 Percent on Demand for Fuel-Efficient Vehicles Chevrolet Cruze retail sales surge 150 percent Combined GMC Terrain, Chevrolet Equinox retail sales rise 58 percent Buick and GMC retail sales rise for 20th successive month Cadillac retail sales up 16th month in a row; Chevrolet’s up for 9th consecutive month DETROIT – General Motors dealers in the United States reported 221,192 total sales in May, including a 9 percent increase in retail sales compared to May 2010. Retail sales for GM’s brands were again propelled by the company’s lineup of fuel-efficient passenger cars and crossovers. Total sales declined 1 percent on lower fleet volume. For the month, Chevrolet Cruze had its best retail sales since its launch as Chevrolet dealers reported 18,996 retail deliveries. The GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox, GM’s compact crossovers, saw a combined retail sales increase of 58 percent during the month. Passenger car and crossover retail sales also rose substantially, up 32 percent and 17 percent, respectively. "Customers continue to demand better fuel economy and our commitment to produce high-quality, fuel-efficient vehicles is paying off," said Don Johnson, vice president, U.S. Sales Operations. "We expect that fuel prices will continue to be volatile and we’re prepared to continue meeting the needs of an ever-changing market." Compared to last year, May fleet sales were 16 percent lower as rental volumes declined 21 percent. Deliveries to commercial accounts rose 19 percent – the 14th consecutive month of commercial sales gains. GM’s Newest Vehicles Retail Sales Increase 65 Percent in May Combined retail sales for vehicles launched since June 2009 – Chevrolet Equinox, Silverado HD, Cruze, Camaro Convertible and Volt; Buick LaCrosse and Regal; GMC Sierra HD and Terrain; and Cadillac SRX, CTS Wagon and CTS Coupe – jumped 65 percent during May and are up 74 percent for 2011. Passenger Cars During the month, total sales of GM passenger cars increased 13 percent. Retail sales of passenger cars rose 32 percent on the continuing strength of the Cruze, which was up 150 percent compared to the Chevrolet Cobalt it replaced. Also contributing to the gain were solid retail sales for the Buick Regal and an increase of 28 percent in retail sales for the Cadillac CTS. “The Cruze, Regal and CTS Coupe are attracting new customers to GM,” Johnson said. “These vehicles are a strong reason why we’re gaining share in key states like California, New York and Florida so far this year.” Crossovers Total crossover sales declined 1 percent, while retail sales were up 17 percent compared to last year’s May. GM’s crossover retail sales were the highest ever for the month of May and were driven by a 58-percent increase in combined retail sales for the 32 mile-per-gallon highway rated Equinox and Terrain. Both of GM’s compact crossovers set retail sales records for the month with Equinox retail sales up 62 percent and Terrain’s 48 percent higher than May 2010. “Customers love the 610-mile range that our compact crossovers provide and they get it without sacrificing capability or style,” Johnson said. For the year-to-date, retail sales of GM’s crossovers were up 27 percent. Pickups Total combined sales of Chevrolet Silverado and Avalanche, and GMC Sierra decreased 14 percent; with retail sales down 17 percent versus a year ago. For the year-to-date, retail sales for GM’s full-size pickups are up 15 percent, while total sales of 212,478 units represent a 13-percent increase compared to the first five months of 2010. 23. I don't know how people are buying the Juke at all. There is Zero back seat room. I couldn't sit in the back seat comfortably at all.
  24. it seemed to me the 2.5 just didn't have good throttle response, and it takes it own sweet time to build revs. I didn't find that to be the case at all especially with the transmission downshifting early and often.
  25. The Car isn't even out yet. You haven't seen any specs or anything other than the concept. Basically sit down and shut up until Cadillac releases some firm information. If Cadillac were to stay true to the concept's powertrain, that gives it a 350hp two-mode hybrid with AWD. That puts it squarely up against the A8 and S-class base powertrains in the U.S. I'm not saying that it will be able to climb into S600 territory, but it could easily counter the LS460 and base Germans. It is Epsilon II, though, isn't it? A mainstream FWD platform can't compete w/ the serious RWD Germans or the LS... Anyway, the XTS should be a nice competitor for the MKs and Lexus ES, which follow the same formula--premium brand model using a mainstream FWD platform...fine for volume, not good for anything prestigious or luxurious. The A8 is just a goosed up version of the A4... the entire Audi lineup is just mainstream FWD cars. I don't get what "mainstream" has anything to do with well... anything. The Zeta platform may not be mainstream here, but it certainly is in AU. It was running with the 5-series in handling. Is it's performance somehow lessened just because it happens to share a showroom with a Daewoo Lacetti? I'm not claiming the XTS is Cadillac flagship worthy, nor that there will ever be a V-series.... but the Buick Lacrosse is already an excellent FWD handler, just using that as a base and throwing more Cadillac technology like magnetic ride control and AWD will push the car well over the capabilities of most drivers anyway.

We rely on these to pay for server costs and vehicle reviews.  Please consider whitelisting us in your ad-blocker, or if you really like what you see, you can pick up one of our subscriptions for just $1.75 a month or $15 a year. It may not seem like a lot, but it goes a long way to help support real, honest content, that isn't generated by an AI bot.

See you out there.
