  1. You missed Tata... I expect as they finish digesting Jaguar/Land Rover (and that seems to be going rather well) they'll set their sites on a "regular" brand or 3. I could see them going after Isuzu for trucks and Mitsubishi for mainstream cars.... and then there are still the struggling French brands out there as well.
  2. Good point, having my son and daughter out of college and on their own, I forget about growing families that could see their needs change in 1-3 years. And in such a way, it's a good way to address those interim needs. The in-law's Charger, while reliable, has weird electrical gremlins like power door locks that won't unlock randomly and windshield wipers that stop working. The dad doesn't want the teenage daughter to be stuck somewhere with a car that does those things, but also knows that in two years, the needs will change again when she is away at school. Leasing a Leaf for 2 years is good solution for them and it avoids a big depreciation penalty. The car will also be under warranty, and most likely reliable for at least the 2 years they have it. Plus... no longer fueling up a Hemi for a teenage girl to drive.
  3. but, as they said in the statement, they don't wish to compete on price anymore.
  4. I hate to say it, but the fact that that recognized their own weaknesses, went back, regrouped, and are planning to try again tells me they might have some smart management and could eventually become formidable competition far faster than Hyundai did.
  5. It's also sometimes a good interim step. It's why I leased the Encore instead of buying it.... I'm fairly certain our needs will be different in 24 months.
  6. they got the logo upside down....
  7. I can't imagine the typical buyer wanting this much power in that size of a package.

    2015 Mercedes Benz GLA45 AMG

Mercedes releases pictures of the 2015 GLA45 AMG http://www.cheersandgears.com/_/auto-show-news/detroit-auto-show/detroit-auto-show-havent-you-wanted-a-mercedes-benz-gla45-amg-r2030
  9. It's a lease, they turn it in when they're done.
  10. It's a joke about the Toyota Tacoma Frame Rot Issue. Toyota was buying back Tacoma trucks multiple times over their blue book value or doing full frame replacements. A tenant of mine had the frame replaced on his Tacoma, but he said it was never right after that and ended up trading it in on a real truck, a 2013 Sierra quad-cab.
  11. A question for guys, is the Cheers and Gears: Garage important to you? There is a possibility that the the garage plug-in may not be available right away in the next software version of the site. If I have to temporarily disable the Garage until it is upgraded, will you be heartbroken?
  12. There are some people out there that don't need the same type of car you do. If it weren't for the need for AWD, my partner would do just fine with a Leaf as his primary vehicle on a day to day basis. My suburban-DC based in-laws are looking at a Leaf for Father/Daughter to share to replace an old Hemi Charger... he works from home 4 days a week and she is going to be a senior in high school. She'll take the Leaf to school 4 days a week and then he can drive his 50 mile round trip to work once a week. Their other car is a Suburban for family duty, but a commuter car that uses no gas is a perfect second car for them.
  13. That's nothing! Toyota will replace your entire Tacoma with a new one at 100k miles.
  14. You'll like the additional power over the Cruze, but it won't feel the same torquey low-end grunt that the 3800 has. Just be willing to wind up the engine and you'll be fine.
  15. I have a similar thing with my vision, but not as extreme.... but I'm also sensitive to bright light.
  16. I like'em. I was looking at a trailhawk for myself.
  17. Can you get an aftermarket one?
