I don't get who this ad is speaking to... the late 30's unmarried professional male currently driving a Camry can't be that huge of a target demographic that you'd need to devote a 2 minute spot to it.

I always will advocate for more wagons... especially Buick wagons...

The amount of carbon released into the air is directly correlated to the number of gallons consumed. Reducing the number of gallons consumed per 100 miles reduces the amount of carbon released.

There should be an "aggressive Eco" mode that allows for people to hypermile and add additional engine braking and a smaller battery reserve (some of the reserve is for battery health rather than performance)

I'm curious how this S-Class Pullman will be significantly different than the Maybach aside from the name (and price?)

All this focus on Rolls and for what? Until BMW took them over and they gained platform sharing ability with the BMW line, Rolls was predominantly unprofitable and notoriously unreliable. Maybach failed and Bentley was taken over by VW. Cadillac needs to tread lightly when entering this arena and make sure all of its other ducks are in a row first.

I think Pullman will be a trim level. It would translate to Brougham here. Do you want a Fleetwood or a Fleetwood Brougham? Do you want an S-Class or and S-Class Pullman? I'm kinda sad that an American company didn't snag that name to use on their cars. It is such an American name.

Cadillac could rebadge the S-Class as their own and the Germans STILL wouldn't buy it. With the exception of Ford, cars from brands not from that Continent are virtually non-existant there. The only cars Ford sells there are the ones engineered and built in Europe because Germany has adopted Ford of Germany as one of its own. Toyota and Nissan haven't been able to make a dent in ANY segment in Europe much less the super lux segment. Only through Opel and Fiat/Lancia do GM and Chrysler stand a chance there.

Scion News: Scion Misses Youth Market, Struggling In Sales
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
The Avenesis isn't "youthful" enough for Scion. It looks like a Corolla replacement. -
Fuel cell is about 2-3 generations away for a Volt. GM is actually ahead of the game here.

Scion News: Scion Misses Youth Market, Struggling In Sales
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Toyota
Scion is going to lose another brand loyalist real soon if my friend gets the job he is up for. He'll be trading his tC in for a BR-Z. -
If they can only get fleet in Germany, they're not going to do better on retail sales elsewhere in Europe. Germany has the money... no one else does.

No reason Cadillac couldn't do a really bomb Eldorado off the Omega platform instead of doing a Roller competitor. I support this notion.

Mercedes took 12,000 orders for the S-class in the past month, we'll see how the Pullman does. Mercedes isn't really going directly at Rolls and Bentley, but they will continue to offer cars in the $200,00 range because they have a loyal following and people that can and will pay that price for a special Mercedes. I don't think we can say the 3rd gen CTS has eclipsed the E-class and 5-series when it isn't on sale yet. The CTS is also prices $4,000 below the 528i and E350. The 5-series and E-class sell about 5,000 a month here, I don't think the new CTS can get that level. The 3-series outsold the ATS, CTS and XTS combined in June, 3-series sales were up 49% in May, up 62% in June, the ATS isn't hurting it, that car is hotter than ever. BMW inadvertently made it easier for the ATS to catch up to the 3-series in sales by splitting out the coupe into its own model line. Once the initial fanfare for the S-Class passes, the rest will go straight to the creame/beige paint line to be sprayed up as Taxis.

They're still putting zero marketing effort into Regal and throwing it all at Verano and Encore..... and wouldn't you, if you managed to convince people to pay ~$27k for something that costs roughly the same to assemble as a Chevy Cruze?

The S-Class is a fleet car in the rest of the world outside of North America. It's main advantage is that it can be used a taxi or limousine simply by changing the paint. At least Ford bothered to put a different grill and tail lights on their limos. Yet it is still the #1 selling large luxury car in the world, and has a higher price point than the 7-series, A8, XJ, or LS460. And Cadillac, Acura, and Infiniti don't even try to compete with it. Mercedes got 12,000 orders in the first month since the reveal of the 2014 model, looks like another generation of dominance. It maintains that title by having heavily subsidized leases, $15k off sticker, and fleeting to limo/rental/taxi companies. Look, you can even pick up an E-Class for $69 a day.

From my own obervations when traveling... Toyota and Nissan are BOTH fleeting like hell to the rental companies. Last time I was in Chicago, it was like a Nissan-Toyota dealer exploded all over the National Car Rental lot. A Gazillion Rogues, Rav4s, Camries, Corollas, Altimas, and Prii with just one 300C for me to drive.
