  1. That isn't the premise of the article... but the article is discussing the failure of E85.
  2. In 12 months or less, there will be a sufficient number of Tesla SuperCharger stations that offer 30 minute recharges such that you will be able to travel coast to coast for FREE.
  3. So a properly "defanged" 3.6 will probably be about 280 lb-ft @ 6000 rpm 280 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm. Which is about the same result as you'll get with the Camry or Accord engines if you simply add Direct Injection and crank up the compression ratio by a point or so. That's actually already pretty close to the 3.6 in the Traverse. 281 horsepower @ 6000 RPM / 266 lb-ft @ 3400 rpm
  4. Because I am just gathering ideas for an article
  5. The Tesla Model S has a longer range than our 2004 CR-V
  6. Name: Buick Encore (2013) Date Added: 21 August 2013 - 09:55 AM Owner: Drew Dowdell Short Description: None Provided View Vehicle
  7. I may use comments from this thread as quotes in an article and by posting in this thread you grant your consent for me to do so. Thought/Reasons why E85/Ethanol hasn't taken off?
  8. beetle has been around for longer than Eldorado... VW should kill it.
  9. I understand that you would eliminate pumping losses, but there is still a large change in overall effort there. And why not just use Start-Stop at idle instead of using the electric motor to keep the diesel engine spinning?
  10. Wouldn't that engine shut down technique be rather jerky... particularly in a diesel? I mean, if I can feel the A/C compressor kicking on and off through the gas pedal on lower powered cars, the drag of spinning a dead diesel is going to be felt too. Also, diesel engines don't really like being shut off and then back on again often. It's bad for their health, and they are noisy and jerky about it.
  11. NYC 2014? NYC is mostly for production vehicles though. ATS was Detroit 2012 CTS was NYC Show 2013 Escalade is OCT 7 in NYC 2013
  12. Two brand new and one completely rebuilt Toyota dealers have gone up near me. SCION is but a corner in the new dealerships. The dealership that was rebuilt booted Scion out of its building on the same lot and used it for the Toyota brand while the Toyota building was flattened and rebuilt. At the end of construction, the Scion building was flattened to make room for more lot space.
  13. Happy Birthday old man!
  14. The thing is their previous perception. For a previous Subaru owner, that would be a big step up in luxury and they would be thrilled with it. Coming from just about any luxury make, the more economical underpinnings of the car and the car's interior will show through.
  15. Apparently, the Rover name was not sold to the Chinese as I had thought.... Tata owns it as part of the Range Rover marque/..... hmm
  16. Maybe they need a sub-brand instead. It's a shame they couldn't get the Rover name back.
  17. ... so about that hot new Cadillac coupe concept.... (nudging back on topic)
  18. I'm trying to imagine what Audi 's or Jaguar's grille would look like in that case...
  19. Well, that's what I've been told, but I also hold his passport in my safe, so...
  20. I have AAA also because I drive a 32 year old vehicle.
  21. I can change my own tire. I have AAA so I don't have to.
  22. Specifying a size is not a shortcut. You're not going to fit in a Corvette either, but that is by design..it wasn't Chevy taking a shortcut
  23. No. Longitudinal engines to NOT mean that Audi has a 55/45 weight split. The Audis have MORE engine in front of the front wheel center-line than any of the transverse mounted engined cars. Have you seen the schnoz on an A8 lately? The XTS AWD is 58/42.. not that different from the Audi in balance... but the overall balance doesn't tell the whole story. Audi can relocate the battery and a few cinder blocks to the trunk of the A8, but that doesn't negate the fact that you have 90% of the weight of the V8 hanging out in front of the front wheels. The XTS's overall balance may be further from the 50/50 ideal, but the engine's center of mass is closer to the middle of the car and not hanging cantilever out in front of the front wheels.
  24. In the US, aren't they more like 99% AWD? It doesn't matter if the Cadillac SRX has a 100% AWD take rate nor does it matter that the Cadillac XTS can send something like 75% of its torque to the rear wheels when the computer tells the AWD system to... they are still FWD. Audi isn't FWD because they have longitudinal engines... even though they are driving the front wheels just as much as the FWD Cadillacs do. </smk mode>
  25. Yea those. Memory failed me.
