  1. I cleaned up the extra posts, it wasn't unexpected.
  2. We had a site outage today for about 8 hours. Our host had to restore us from backup. About 30 hours of posting were lost. Sorry for any inconvenience.
  3. HTC One has one problem that made me cross it off my list instantly. No replaceable battery. When I go to the auto shows, I carry 2 spare batteries with me because I use the phone so much for tweeting, facebook, coordinating where people are.... the last few shows I've been nearly crippled due to the Sprint network (or lack there of)... I'm not going to get into that situation with batteries.
  4. Battery life so far has been substantially longer than my SII but that's because the battery size is substantially larger. Supposedly they've made the screens more energy efficient. Feels thinner than my SII Get a case, the dang thing is slippy*. *Local Pittsburgh dialect.. don't hate.
  5. ... agreed on the less equipment. If this is supposed to be a drivers car, why does it have automatic parallel park?
  6. I prefer my cars to be as quiet as possible with little road noise or tire slap. That precludes almost anything from the eastern hemisphere. Verano would be my first choice, Jetta TDI would be my second.. if on price, I would step down to a Sonic but with more equipment.. and preferably the gearing of the RS.
  7. Not my cup-o-tea, but as long as you're happy with it.
  8. While I like the SS.. I fail to see how this is a better business case than a new Avalanche.
  9. Just got a Galaxy S4 on Verizon... finally dumped sprint.
  10. Impala drop was to be expected. Sonic, Spark, and Cruze are doing their jobs. Cruze and Equinox each are looking at over 200k for the year. Someone needs to be fired over the Malibu... I vote DA. GMC is rather alarming too. Their entire numbers are propped up on Yukon XL and Sierra with everything else being down... a lot. ATS cooking right along. CTS at the end of its model run... last ones of current generation have already been built or will be rolling off the line this week. Regal and Lacrosse both at the end of the current body-style... hopefully those will pick up, but GM needs to market them again. They market the hell out of the Verano and Encore.. and oh gee wiz! Sales! In other news. Congrats to the one new Chevrolet Aveo driver in May.
  11. It's not a matter of reliability today on a 2009 Merc. You said you would keep it 10 years.. that means in 5 years, in 2018, you'll be driving a 10 year old Merc... and that is when they get pricey to maintain.... if not before then. A friend of mine is the VP of something or other at Federated Investors... he's not a cheap person... but he's already sworn off Mercedes after just one of them. Just getting basic stuff done outside of maintenance contract/warranty is pricey. He's got the dough... so if he complains about it.. it must be pretty bad.
  12. I didn't realize the low resale values on the first generation CTS... I figured they'd all be up in the very high teens to low 20s still... for not much more, I could get the 300. At $13k for an '07 CTS with 35k miles...... I got time for that. If you think an out of warranty Aurora is expensive to maintain... just wait till you get into an out of warranty Benz.
  13. No no.. those two buy/lease new.
  14. While that may be true Poncho... it is still more interesting than a CR-V or RAV-4 and hits closer to home for them too.
  15. I guess everyone didn't like Infiniti's new model names...
  16. Cubi got it - 1st or 2nd gen CTS. I've found large numbers of the former and a few of the latter, in the $13k - $17k range, with absurdly low mileage for the price/equipment. There is a familiarity factor here which makes it an easier sell at home. Mine was rock solid for the 48k miles I had it, so finding them out there with 32k - 36k on the clock is reassuring that the next few years with the car would be mostly trouble free. One piece of info I may have left out is that this is only intended to be a 2 - 3 year car for me. So if I trade it in 24 months, don't be surprised.
  17. ... those of you who know me well enough should see the hint I'm giving with the "I'm already familiar with..." line.
  18. Well remember, I'm not aiming for an S-class here. It's just gotta be solid car, big enough, and have some basic premium options. You're getting warmer.
  19. Is it a 2003 Buick Regal Joseph Abboud or early 2000s Park Avenue Ultra? Think younger, both in model year and perceived image.
  20. I'm actually enjoying the guesses. :-) but yes, you're disqualified Camino ;-)
  21. I assume they use a console parking brake lever because it's cheap...nothing 'fashionable' about it..and a console pull lever is what the standard control is world wide in cheap midsizers.., since this is a world car, they standardize such controls. Now they have one console for the whole world rather than a US-Spec and an Everyone-else-spec. One design is cheaper than two. Remember, they sell this with a manual transmission in other countries.
  22. You could spend $10k less than that and still get a DTS with just 35k on the clock and loaded to the gills. Buick Lucerne? Those have to sell for dirt cheap on the used market. But there is a reason for that. Looked at but no... couldn't do it. You're the warmest so far though.
  23. It's not one specific car exactly... it's a make/model that that I already like but appears to have rock-like depreciation. It won't be the most popular choice here..but it is one that wouldn't suprise any of you and I already know it is one that would suit me. That said, I'm really all over the place on this... I got back to thinking about small trucks again... but I couldn't do a Ranger or Colorado/Canyon (hate the interiors on all 3) or Tacoma (You guys would string me up after the frame broke) or any recent Dakota (ditto the other domestics) or Ridgeline (I'd have to sell C&G).... so that leaves me with... Nissan Frontier and Suzuki Equator
  24. So far... I'm not a fan of this new face... that's why I said that.
