  1. MSNBC just called Florida for Obama. McCain is conceding, his fanbois are booing. McCain would be wise to say, "We dont need you to boo, we need you to go back in time and make me run a better campaign."
  2. Olberman just called Obama the political Neil Armstrong, equating his victory to man landing on the moon. The AP reports McCain just called Obama to concede.
  3. I'm so happy I could cry. Jill, on the other hand, is so happy she is crying. I'm totally going to make fun of her.
  4. Fox just called it as well.
  5. Its nice to have an election end before 1am.
  6. Yup, CNN is reporting it right now. California just closed. President-elect Obama.
  7. Florida seems to be leaning blue. Exit polls suggest he's doing quite well among Cuban-American voters.
  8. I've been going between MSNBC and Comedy Central, so I've been missing it. Is it like Princess Leia?
  9. I'm coming up with 338-200, but I'm giving McCain the benefit of the doubt in North Carolina.
  10. Guys, take a step back and think about this: In the morning, the President-Elect of the United States of America is going to be an Arab, Muslin, terrorist socialist. And longtooth, those Bulls teams were fantastic. MJ is, without a doubt, the best player in league history (I dont care what kind of numbers Kobe or LeBron put up, they wont touch MJ overall) but MJ also had a good surrounding group. Pippen and Kukoc and Horace Grant and BJ Armstrong and Steve Kerr. None of them were superstars in their own right, but they were the guys who made those championships possible. It just took Jordan's greatness to put it all together.
  11. Nah, McCain backers are going to have all the liquor drank by 10:00.
  12. My Gen. Tsao's was awesome! MSNBC keeps going to shots of Grant Park in Chicago, and I am jealous, I'd love to be there. I've been in Grant Park when there were a million people packed in (the Taste as well as one Bulls championship celebration) and this looks a million times better.
  13. On the bright side, we wont have any "hanging chad" crap this time around. No need for the lawyer armies in a landslide. MSNBC just called Arizone "too close to call" with 0% of the vote in. I'm enjoying flipping between channels, watching results come in, eating Chinese food, drinking some beer. I just dont know what will occupy my time after tonight.
  14. Its required by law if a certain percent of voters in the district speak a language other than English. Missouri has a law on the ballot today to make English the official language of the state, I'm not sure if it extends to ballots, since I think they're covered by HAVA.
  15. I worked the polls today, and it was an interesting experience. There were people in like at 5:30, by the time the polls opened at 6:00 the line was roughly 100 people long. It took roughly an hour and a half to get things settled down, but nobody had to wait too long (I heard someone say 40 minutes, and they were near the back) and after the initial rush, it was easy going.
  16. I'd be more comfortable with a one time increase than with rolling increases, but I do favor the idea. Once OPEC cuts production because worldwide demand has been dropping we're going to see higher prices again, so we need to do something to encourage investment in alternatives. Offshore drilling would be like pulling a Band-Aid off slowly, raising the gas tax would be more of a tug. As a counter for truck drivers and others whose job relies on their car or truck, would an increased mileage credit or fuel subsidy make it more palatable? A person who drives 30,000 miles a year while averaging 10mpg would pay an extra $1500/year (or about $29/week) due to a $0.50 increase in fuel tax. A $1500 tax credit would offset this, would it not? Some things would have to be juggled around, but it evens out for the taxpayer and the government gets the benefit of people finally seeing the need for alternatives.
  17. Palin was a pander pick. McCain was trying to bring in the Bush-loving base and Hillary voters, while creating a buzz around his campaign. It worked for a little while, until Palin opened her mouth.
  18. Probably not long before its replaced with a Pontiac π (or whatever they call their Cruze clone) clone.
  19. your mom
  20. I found a white with wood, early-90's Roadmaster wagon (with rear sunroof) for $1300.
  21. I find it amazing that nobody expressed single party concerns in 2002.
  22. Sounds like one angry old man voting for another.
  23. If you drink enough alcohol, you're not going to be walking anywhere.
  24. Well, it could be, if enough people voted for Gene Amondson.
  25. McCain is on MSNBC right now, his tone and body language dont match his "We're going to win" speech. Its like he knows its inevitable, I wouldn't be surprised if he endorses Obama by 3:00 Tuesday afternoon.
