  1. What is sad about Second Life it that it has become a huge shopping mall of virtual products. Make whatever sells, not what's good design. It would be nice if GM would use Second Life as a source of concept ideas. Give land to people that want to build experimental ideas in automotive design, not what will make the builder the most money. GM might get some interesting ideas from a project like that.
  2. WOW!!! I love the cow hide!!! I think car makers should look into different seat materials in their HIGH end models (snake, alligator, etc.). Now, they could only put the skins in a handfull of expensive cars (because the price would be high), but it would put some new flavor in cars. The only problem I can see is some animal rights group would get involved........even though we have used cows for years.
  3. WOW!!!! That is the definition of concept! I agree that it is an intersting technology excercise though.
  4. Anybody think that GM has an idea in the back of their head that they can power a house with the same unit, especially with solar power involved? Just think if GM were the worlds top car maker AND the worlds top power generator! That could REALLY rain on Toyota's parade!
  5. Even if GM drops to #2 but keeps up with world leading designs and technology with the out of the box thinking, then GM will blow past Toyota in the future. I think when GM and Toyota hit the fork in the road, Toyota went the wrong way and GM went the right way. Keep it up GM!
  6. This might not be the most important news of the day, but it is very nice to hear. Since this will most likely be a pure digital connection (like the VW and BMW), the sound will be MUCH better than the current AUX jack on SOME GM models. Add the intergrated controls on the radio (again, like the BMW and VW), and I think this will be another one of those "on the fence" options. Given the staggering number of people who own these things, I think this will be a bargaining tool much like XM radio and OnStar. I think this is a good move for GM. Here is a link to the CNN article: http://money.cnn.com/2006/08/03/technology....reut/index.htm
  7. First, I would like the union leaders to realize that the world does not stop at union leadership. I have seen MANY customers leave GM dealerships for good because of strikes and lack of coroporation from the unions (just to line the pockets of the union member). This hurt MANY dealership employees! For every corporate CEO that gets the rope.........there should be two union leaders that get the rope.
  8. Yeah, I noticed that. Is it because there is no turbo, or they just wanted to cut costs? First off, there needs to be a turbo in ALL SAABS. Second, if they are just cutting costs, with the volume SAAB brings, that is not a prosperous cost cutting strategy (it can't be that expensive).
  9. I'm not trying to be rude but the only company I want to see GM partner with is............GM!!!!!
  10. My 04 GTO dings & pops up a picture of a park bench and a tree to tell me to rest when I have driven too long. Pretty funny and useless!
  11. Well, the way I see it, GMNA needs these cars to help their USA comeback!
  12. This case is a little different because they are making their car LESS safe than it was before. Add to this that they are making their trucks less safe in an area that does in fact kill kids. Kids do get their necks broken in even minor wrecks because of air bags. Maybe it does not happn often but it does happen. This is REGARDLESS to what the NHTSA red tape is.
  13. Yeah, the 9-3 should be in here. I could not tell you how many highway patrolmen and ER workers have come to our dealership because they experienced some people live through some absolutly horrible wrecks in a SAAB. That tells you somthing from the source!
  14. Lol, sorry. I was having a hard time deciding where to put the topic (Europe or Asia). That is where those 4 minutes went. I guess it is a sign of the times when a person has to actually think what country to put MG in!
  15. Found this on CNN's web site. Never thought this would be the first Chinese owned vehicle sold (and built) in the USA! http://money.cnn.com/2006/07/12/news/inter....reut/index.htm
  16. It very well could. I think that this move by Toyota will haunt them for years to come.
  17. I would not say every country (just the offenders), I do beleive that we should tack on a tarriff equal to the tariff of the exporting country. This should only be for companies who are based outside the USA. Unfortunatily, GM can't build vehicles here much longer, but it would not do any good if you tariff a GM built in another country.
  18. Very true. Even though they have to be built over there, GM needs to make sure to export American style so Toyota won't end up being the "cool" vehicle over there. A VERY low end version of the HHR would be a hit over there! Have quality, but just don't put all the bells and wistles in. The more Chinese people that can get into one of those (or vehicles like that), the brighter GM's future will be over there.
  19. Don't know why it is not posted on the site, but they have Hummer dealers there too (not many though).
  20. These vehicle designs make me appreciate Opel’s designs even more!
  21. If this is already posted, I apologize in advance. Found this on CNN Money, and even though I can sense an anti-GM stance, I found this atricle interesting mostly because this is the first time I have seen an article about this. On a second note, I remember reading an article about GM keeping a few EV1's alive for "research". If anyone knows where this info comes from please post it. Anyway, here is the link to the article: http://money.cnn.com/2006/06/23/news/compa...ybrid/index.htm
  22. I think that AWD needs to be an option on all the vehicles they build. Anyone think that this plan would be cost effective (and help sell more vehicles)? Kind of like an American Subaru (optional).
  23. VW is not last any more! Congrats to them! . Anyway, somthing interesting to point out is the terrible quality of the Germans! They don't build them like they did years ago. Although, if I did not buy an American car I would buy a German car, the Japanese cars (no matter what it shows on this list) are still last on my shopping list (along with Korean cars).
  24. I have to agree, don't get me wrong, I don't think it looks bad but it could look better (would buy one over a Camry or Accord any day though). The SS on the other hand...........HOT!!!!!
  25. There is ALWAYS going to be the advantage of being able to grow much of our fuel in our country, not get fuel from contries that genuinly hate us. There is also the economic benefit that our agriculture sector would experience. Of coarse, as long as Toyota is building the hybrid batteries in the United States, and as long as Toyota is pumping and INSANE amount of cash into the USA economy and not sending back to Japan.............oh wait..............
